On the subject of the services, I checked users info. I thought Apple Music would have caught up to Spotify more than it has, though Apple Music not having free accounts (as far as I know) doesn't help. Is Apple Music even offered in every country? More than a third of its overall user number comes from the USA.
According to recent info, Spotify has 574 million users globally, with 100 million+ in the USA (226 million premium subscribers globally), while Apple has 88 million worldwide and 32.6 million in the USA.

I'm surprised Brenda didn't perform better on Spotify post-Christmas given her playlisting... on another note, did her videos make much of a difference on YouTube, HolidayGuy? Brenda seems to really struggle there which is shocking.

David- the first "Rockin'..." video has 20 million+ views; the second, with just Brenda, hasn't had many views (less than 200K at last check).
"Rockin..." still led holiday tracks on Spotify post-Christmas, so not sure how much better it can do. Not like it would have a heap more streams than the other holiday mainstays at this point. Most users just stop listening to holiday music of any kind.

To be expected in a week like this when Mariah's airplay and sales edge gets shaved but the shortened Christmas period in the tracking week. That playlist gives Brenda such an edge on Spotify as streaming increases year over year. We'll see just how much the streaming pie increases next year.
I'd still expect some sort of split at the top between the two of them next year with Mariah taking the week or two prior to this equivalent tracking week. What'll be interesting to watch is if the tactics employed to get Brenda to No. 1 around Thanksgiving will be relevant next year or if Mariah will have more of an edge during that time.

I actually expected Christmas songs to decline 5-10% instead of rising again this week. Due to the leap year, in 2024-5 this tracking period will be 20-26 Dec. So it'll probably have the highest point average of the year by a solid margin.

Well, looks like the fork has been stuck into the 2010s Christmas songs making the top 10 this year, though at least we have some mild spice with Dean Martin’s major rebound to beat the pandemic year peak, the continued pacings up for Elvis and Sinatra, and the absolutely unexpected blast up for Eartha Kitt.

i think everyone will be checked back in next week 💀😭 I don't know, "Cruel Summer", "Snooze", and "Last Night" surging back up the Hot 100 isn't much more exciting than the Christmas tracks. Hopefully there will be some excitement with "My Love Mine All Mine", "Surround Sound", "FTCU", and some other newer songs. Agora Hills top 10 will probably make some noise, as well as "official" new peaks for Greedy (robbed of a #2 peak) and Water. |

The song is the 7th song on each of the two biggest holiday playlists on Spotify - 'Christmas Classics' and 'Christmas Hits.' I don't know if it's always been that high on both or not, but that's surely helping. |
