Yes it's been known for years but the deniers think "patriarchy" was too ahead of its time for 2012 1950s shit indeed I am the biggest Taylor Swift fan I know in my personal life and even I have the lingering suspicion that lines like “fuck the patriarchy” and “did the twin flame bruise paint you blue, just between us did the love affair maim you too?” were for sure later edits. I became a fan around Speak Now and to this day I tell people I became a fan because while some of the songwriting was juvenile, there were glimmering moments on SN where I said “wow that was terrifically said - let us leave her alone and see where she goes as a songwriter, because she has a wild amount of potential” and since SN she has obviously grown into the songwriting wonder she is today. Red was early days and I just don’t buy that she was capable of this level of songwriting back then. It’s too folklorian. Note: I think the Red album is gorgeously written for the most part, so it’s not a knock to that version of Taylor. The songwriter that she is today is just in another stratosphere. I also believe most of the ATW10MV we got was written back then, but she just altered and I think that’s fine? It can be both-and. Thanks for sharing your stanning story <3

It can be both-and. “Fuck the patriarchy” is actually the line I am least suspicious about since it’s pretty awkward in the song. It isn’t him saying “fuck the patriarchy” but the bf having that phrase in a key chain and throwing the key chain to the ground . That’s something that would make sense to have considering the circles Jake traveled in even through the phrase wasn’t super popular yet. It would definitely be something that Taylor would take note of the irony in and be good song fodder. Before the recordings, I think Liz Rose mentioned that there was swearing in the draft version No opinion on the second phrase. Taylor wrote similarly poetic lyrics on og red but I can also see it has a later revision.

I kinda wish she wouldn't have announced this album because if you aren't going to release a single or snippets - it is excruciating to wait. I know the only reason she announced early was for the vinyl sales. However, the waiting is killing me haha. This week we have The Eras Tour movie with additional scenes on Disney Plus and that's it for this month. Taylor has been doing this since Folklore so the album sells itself and I'm sure there will be a focus single on release day. Not having a lead single builds mystery and leads to more first week streams from Swifities and curiosity streams from casual listeners.so it works both ways.

Me saying she's killing the hype and then realizing she gained 900k followers on Spotify in the last 7 days

Yeah she wants the hype to be for the whole album not just a lead single. Once we are a week or so from release, she will do actually promo to reignte hype. hype right now is pretty pointless.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we Swifties are just incredibly spoiled.

I watched the new songs for The Eras Tour film on Disney+ last night, and while I appreciated they inserted "Wildest Dreams", "Long Live", "The Archer" and "Cardigan" into the film itself, they put all the acoustic songs after the credits and repeat "Our Song" and "YOYOK" during that set too (also available in a separate collection in the Extras on D+). Why they couldn't have just inserted all of the acoustic songs into that portion of the film like they did the other additions is beyond me. Oh well.
"Maroon" made me tear up a bit though, not gonna lie. That might be my favorite song from Midnights.
I'm glad to have it in 4K with Dolby Atmos & Dolby Vision in D+, but I'm holding out hope for a physical 4K UHD release later this year.

They didn't want to mess with the flow of the actual concert. Cardigan, The Archer, Long Live and Wildest Dreams took their respective places in the setlist. The acoustic portion is meant to be 2 songs, not 6, which is why they did them as their own separate block. I much prefer it the way they did it.

August also joins the club of billion songs that were not an official single which is even more impressive even if it did go "Viral"

Rumour has it that the eras tour live album is on the way. 👀 A three hour album (assuming she doesn’t include all the surprise songs too)? I wonder what currently holds the record for longest album to chart

Hopefully she releases 40 different variants with secret songs at places like Kroger, Wal-Mart, Krispy Kreme, McDonald's, etc

Anyway, I'm sure the live album (and its varients) are eminent. While I've seen plenty of clips of the concert, I'm still on the fence about watching the movie before my show in August.

Taylor continues to serve music. Can you imagine if she decided to put music on back burner and focus on, say, a clothing line?
If she released a line of her *greatest* clothing styles and Era outfits, she'd probably be cleaning up like RiRi!
Some people would be upset because those thigh high boots, skirts and tops come in six different color *variants* and part of the line would be exclusive to Target.

Why is this so good?
YouTube has served me lukewarm fan remixes, AI vocal substitutions, and mashups the last couple months, but THIS is something fresh and actually good.

Once the Taylor’s Versions are over, she should absolutely release an Eras Tour album that includes every surprise song... so basically her entire discography and then some. It would never leave the Top 10.

Not to overstep my boundaries and backseat moderate……but this was all highly unnecessary and you should be ashamed at this high school ass mentality and blatant attempt to derail the thread (which I will admit I might be guilty of for even deigning to take the bait). We addressed valid points and your counter-arguments were heard, and there was no need to bring it up unprovoked as everyone had finally moved on. Do better.
Anyways, to try and keep it all on topic, I’d be so down for an Eras Tour-themed Target (Taylor’s Version) moment. I’d snatch up as much of the merch as I possibly could. And yes, an Eras Tour live album would be awesome to have…I have to wonder how she’d go about the physical formats though, especially the vinyl.

It would never leave the Top 10. That would sabotage the chart runs of all her albums through and cause them to leave the chart. Weeknd's greatest hit collection as a been a mess for that reason. It's better to have all of her studio albums except debut chart instead of just having one.
