evermore is my favorite TS record yet and Midnights has aged well for me, so to hear THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT be described as their child is very, VERY exciting. I’m gonna miss the midnight release, and won’t be able to listen likely until tomorrow evening as I’ll be busy all day, but I really can’t wait to hear this album. I’ve seen the In Summation epilogue she wrote (first time she’s done an epilogue rather than a prologue, I love it) and was thoroughly gagged. I just know this album is going to HIT.

The reactions and descriptions I’ve seen are literally so all over the place at this point, that I’m far far more confused/unsure what to expect now than I was pre-leak when we had virtually nothing to go off of lol. Honestly, I think the most common takeaway I’m getting is this isn't a very mainstream album, with next to no obvious hits. So that gives me Folkmore expectations more than anything. I will say I’m not loving the lyrics I’ve seen though. That Charlie one… no way I’d think that was real if so many weren’t saying it is lmao.

My top 5 in no order: "loml" "The Tortured Poets Department" "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" "But Daddy I Love Him" "Down Bad"/"Clara Bow" So hard to even whittle down as they're ALL so close. I totally feel you. I'm obsessed with the album. I think these are my top 5: "So Long, London" (my absolute favourite) "But Daddy I Love Him" (I think this will be the buzziest track from the album—the fan reaction to the lyrics will ben nuts) "loml" "The Black Dog" (how this isn't on the standard I have no idea) And I agree "Down Bad" and "Clara Bow" are tied. I'm a ballad girlie, as you can tell. {Spoiler} Also shots fired @ Olivia at the end of "Clara Bow" lmao. She really went there. The lyrics on this album are SO unhinged.

So to those who have heard the leak… thoughts on Fortnight’s hit level potential?

So to those who have heard the leak… thoughts on Fortnight’s hit level potential? "Fortnight" is gonna be tricky. It's not instant which a lot of successful singles kinda need to be, but it most certainly has a hook that gets in your head after a few listens (so it's a grower). Will be interesting to see it play out. Reminds me of "Dreams"/"Flowers" with it's casual, understated, chill, dated (without as vocal of a chorus) vibe. Very one note the whole way through.

I remember a distinctly muted response for Midnoghts as well and now people claim it's one of her best eras so... Also seen a lot of stan fights on Twitter. Ariana, Beyoncé and Taylor dropping so close to each other I guess... I was going to say this as well because I definitely recall people not feeling that album when it first was released. And this might be a generation thing/me becoming an old codger, but everyone using the term “mid” to describe something just immediately flags themselves as likely Gen Z and therefore less likely to be someone I agree with (in terms of taste for something), so maybe there’s still hope for the new album in terms of my personal opinion lol. Edited to disclaim that all that is not to say that their opinions are any less valid than mine, but rather that it’s different, just so nobody takes offense. I also wonder how people can decide so quickly a conclusion on how they feel about an entire album. Granted, there have been albums I've listened to where I knew right away I'd love them - but there have been more albums that took multiple full listen-throughs before they clicked. Even Taylor's own Lover album, which I love start to finish, took me a couple listens all the way through before anything besides the singles (which I was already familiar with) started to leave any sort of impression. Carly Rae's Emotion album - aka, the most perfect pop album of the 21st century - I was determined and it took me like 6 or 7 tries before I got it lmao.

It’s her first for me where I neither adore the whole album nor absolutely love at least a few songs. “Florida!!!” is as good as it gets. It plays like a 1989 TV vault tracks expanded edition, with the songs on 89 TV being the singles and these the album cuts. I fear I'm not going to like this album. I listened to Midnights last night and so much of it is eh in terms of production, and I fear this is going to be the same, especially if it's being compared to the average 1989 vault tracks I have no use for the 1989 vault, think Midnights is her 8th strongest album and LOVE THIS RECORD. So maybe you will too because you have #taste.

They probably are going to use Post/Taylor fan bases just to at least launch at #1 hot 100 and then I'm sure withe the iheart plays etc and being a new taylor lead it will easily sail into top 20 at WORST and then they can just drop it and move on to something else if needed. At the end of the day, it will be another #1 for both of them and a decent (especially for recent Post efforts) CHR peak at worst case.

Getting off-topic but I so feel that on Emotion! One of my favorite albums ever that for a long while at first I was mostly just listening to due to the hype and was like “it’s nice” (except RWM was an instant all-timer for me). Honestly, some of it didn’t really click until years down the line for me (I think my All That infatuation started sometime around Dedicated’s release). So I’m all for some albums needing time. Though I think you can typically know if you dislike an album fairly soon, at least for me. With Emotion for example, I never had an “I don’t care for this” sort of reaction.

Yes. And I don't know why people point to one lyric to keep maligning this woman's songwriting as if there isn't an entire album of better lyrics they're ignoring. It's most certainly a hater move. Smh. It's also not from "Fortnight" like keeps being misreported.

Lol, that’s exactly what I was referring to in my earlier post about not believing something could be real if it didn’t appear to be so.

I like the sound of the clip, I haven't heard it before yet.
Idon't understand what the very last line means lol . Is that what people are questioning? I've never heard of that saying or a mix of words before

Initial impressions…I agree that this could be considered a love child of evermore and Midnights. I like it a lot, but not better than either of the other two parent albums. At least not yet. I think the obvious single choice is I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. Possibly also single potential with the title track. I can’t say I’d consider Fortnight a song with hit potential, even though I’m sure it will be. I do like it though.

I assumed this was fake because of the sudden tense change and, just, the nonsense of it all.

I haven't heard 'TTPD' yet but I will not stand here for the hatred of 'Midnights'. I must be one of the only ones who loves the album because all I am seeing lately is hate for it.

I've never heard of that saying or a mix of words before Golden retrievers are associated with easy-going loyal natures… though in this case comparing someone to a dog is almost surely meant to be an insult haha. Basically that he’s mindless and easy to figure out.

For that alone, I’d say they should avoid release lol.
