Okay after listening through several times, I definitely think it should have been split into two albums ala folklore/evermore. I’m sure she’s gunning for a 2+ million debut and so 31 songs is the key to that, but two separate albums would have been a bit more palatable to me.
So Long, Lover (Album 1) 1) How Does It End? 2) The Albatross 3) I Look Into People’s Windows 4) I Hate It Here 5) Fortnight 6) The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived 7) The Black Dog 8) loml 9) The Alchemy 10) Guilty as Sin? 11) Whose Afraid of Little Old Me? 12) I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) 13) Fresh Out The Slammer 14) imgonnagetyouback 15) But Daddy I Love Him 16) Clara Bow 17) The Bolter 18) So Long, London
Tortured Poets (Album 2) 1) The Tortured Poets Department 2) My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 3) I Can Do It With a Broken Heart 4) Florida!!! 5) Down Bad 6) So High School 7) Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus 8) Robin 9) Peter 10) Cassandra 11) thank you aIMee 12) The Prophecy 13) The Manuscript
This album is definitely evermore tier for me. Not quite folklore tier but on par with evermore.

I don't hate this album. It's a fine listen, but it did all kind of run together for me. Nothing really stood out on the first listen. The only thing that came close to was "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys." Had to take some breaks listening to it because I got bored and was zoning out.
I'd rather her just take more time to craft a 13 quality song album than a 31 song album of medium quality songs.

Do y’all think there will be a second single? I can’t imagine anything would do too well, but I’m sure Fortnight will be a good indicator (I’m guessing top 5 will be its peak)

Because it will be #1 on hot 100 lol and of course there will be a second single. There are plenty of hits on the album. The label is currently testing Down Bad as one of the potentials

There are surely some elements from midnights, 1989 ,etc. but I think Aaron/Jack/Taylor still brought plenty of new or lesser used songs. There were like some straight up western country saloon vibe song on the album. A few had some real guitars going on as well. Again, I've only listened one time at 12am but there was more variety than some are giving I'd say personally

I think the standard edition 16 tracks is really what she meant to put out for the masses/general public to listen and the real core of this album. But with the world we are living in which people like to leak songs, I think having the other songs that are not in any physical media is her way of giving the middle finger to those leakers. (Basically it is a way of her to say to them I still have tricks in my sleeves!) Also it gives her the opportunity to maintain the surprise, hype and joy to her fans by holding back some tracks as "vault tracks" and having her fans experiencing them that at the time she intended them to be listened. The casual fans may not like this but I believe the true/core fans are actually happy to have more songs to listen than less songs.

I Wonder how she will add This to the Tour. Will it have 2 sections or Just one?

Because of her doing this twice now, if she does not continue to do 2am / 3am editions moving forward, people are going to riot! lol.

I’m in the minority it seems but I’m obsessed with this album, and this is after Twitter really did convince me I would hate it. I can see the critiques by everyone, especially for the Jack tracks, but this is honestly the music I’ve been wanting from her in a whole album for a long time. I was listening and quickly realized a lot of my favorite TS songs sound very similar to this so while it’s not an adventurous sound from her, it is the sound that scratches the right itch in my brain. And then this damn double side… we practically got the third folklore/evermore sister and I could not be more thrilled. It’s definitely dense but I’m excited to just consume it slow and appreciate these lyrics.

Good news/bad news. Good news is the standard edition is indeed growing on me and I think I may end up liking it more than Midnights. Pretty sure this will not be top tier of hers for me though. Bad news is I’m really not here for this Anthology mess at all. These tracks sound like the most “for hardcore Swifties ONLY” music she has ever put out. Not for me. And I can’t with some of yall screaming for “more Dessner!!” going forward. No to the thank you lol.

I'll have to give the Anthology tracks another listen but as is, they do not differ enough from each other for me to really appreciate them. I like the cohesion but they were a little too similar as times.

I am only 6 tracks in and this is thus far much better than I was fearing. It feels pure stream of consciousness thus far and, to that regard, a double lengthy collection seems somehow fitting.
But Daddy I Love Him and Fortnight are both excellent. The others didn’t stand out as much. But Daddy I Love Him is wow.
Also, this is pure headphone music. It’s atmospheric as hell, and I’m all about that.
I keep reading in places that this is just a commercial grab etc. No way. This is not a safe record to release at the place she’s in.

I heard "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart" on the radio earlier and it sounded amazing! Would love for that to be the next single.

I think she might just be too enveloped in her own brand right now. She's on what's basically a GH tour and periodically releasing past material repackaged. Constantly looking back, constantly performing past material. Over years. It's been a few years since she didn't have something pre-planned on the horizon and I think she needs space in front of her to progress. That's not a Taylor-specific issue, it's just life. Perfect description of the situation. The reality is she'll never be able to write another song the way she did before she was "Taylor Swift," the entire music industry and the most famous artist on the planet.

Tbh it's been an issue this year for me. Ariana's album served zero new stuff and I ended up gravitating to older projects of her within a week. Beyoncé beyonce'd all over country and to me it was kinda boring. I have zero expectations for Dua or Billie to drop career bests either. I don't know why but I feel like none of our current stars are innovating in any way that connects to me (but it's more than likely it's also a me problem) Gaga coming to shook you with her PRINCEss of darkness era just watch

No one expects Billie, Lana or even Ariana to switch up their sound Tbh it's been an issue this year for me. Ariana's album served zero new stuff and I ended up gravitating to older projects of her within a week. So you do expect Ariana to switch it up, no? Anyway I think "Clara Bow" is the real highlight of this project. "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" is the most obvious single to me. Speaking of that one, I am surprised more discussion hasn't been had here about how Swift seems to be complaining about her her fans attempting to control her private life.

Disc 2 of The Anthology is the best album of the year, argue with the wall.

But Daddy I Love Him is about Matty…. But I’m going on a limb and saying it’s about Travis. She even starts with a “Sunday” reference, and the way we all knew he had a dating show and the idea of dating a pro athlete. I especially think so cause she says about how her parents now love him. Plus I don’t think she would refer to her fans in such a way as she is because of their concerns when she dated Matty. It’s pretty scathing. And it was only fans concerned about Matty. All of a sudden with Travis, the whole world had opinions of them/her. People who didn’t care about her before.

I'm trying to listen to this, but I can't get through this (disc 1). I have no problem with slow or midtempo Taylor, but this all sounds like 1 long song, it's boring. Folklore/evermore are slow but still have their magical moments. This? none. I'm glad that she wants to make her fans sleep well at night, but what was the point of this release? Casual listeners aren't gonna listen to this. After a huge first week sales (provided that bad reviews won't hurt them), I'm afraid that this will not perform well at all. Even if it's Taylor. I'm pissed. I'm seeing her in a month and this makes me not wanna go. I know I come across as quick to judge, but it really feels to me like a self sabotage. Would you want to hear her next offering after listening to this, if you were a casual listener? She's worked so hard only to get to this point. I pray to be wrong...but I don't think this will end well.

I am surprised more discussion hasn't been had here about how Swift seems to be complaining about her her fans attempting to control her private life. Given many fans were definitely overstepping boundaries and were completely out of touch thinking they had the right or were entitled to decide/have a say in who she's dating, I'd say her response and feelings are more than justified, so I'm not sure what they could say. lol Those who do complain about her taking issue with them trying to control her personal life need fresh air and a life of their own to handle. but what was the point of this release? Casual listeners aren't gonna listen to this. Do veteran artists release music for casual listeners or moreso for their fanbase? The reviews that are overwhelmingly positive?

Every song on this album sounds the same.Kind of boring. At least on the 1989 album she changed it up with the upbeat, Shake It Off, the Power Ballad Blank Space and the remix of Bad Blood. Taylor will get the streams and the sales in the first week due to the massive hype but will it have longevity? I guess we will find out soon
