I have a hunch she’s going to drop a Fortnight (More Postie) remix next week to secure a second week. I wouldn’t mind a sped up version either.

I think "But Daddy I Love Him" is about all 3 in order. First Joe, then Matty and Travis in the end.

I have a single edit of BDILH. You cut immediately from the “I don’t cater to all these vipers…” line in the bridge right into “there’s a lot of people in this town.” Then there’s an easy 15-20 secs that can get chopped at the very end too for a fade out. That’s like a 4:30 edit, which just gets in under the cuff of what radio will play. I actually almost think that bridge sounds better with the edit too, almost like that was the initial bridge before she added a whole extended bit to it…

No one expects Billie, Lana or even Ariana to switch up their sound Tbh it's been an issue this year for me. Ariana's album served zero new stuff and I ended up gravitating to older projects of her within a week. So you do expect Ariana to switch it up, no? Anyway I think "Clara Bow" is the real highlight of this project. "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" is the most obvious single to me. Speaking of that one, I am surprised more discussion hasn't been had here about how Swift seems to be complaining about her her fans attempting to control her private life. Nah but even within her genre of R&B infused Pop I found myself thinking "man, she's done this song before so much better" with eternal sunshine.Like, all of Lana's album fit into a very nice collection of the same genre and I'd say her last one was still one of her strongests projects even if it didn't reinvent the wheel. It's tricky.

Some of you need to stop speaking for anyone but yourselves Maybe you need to stop replying all offended at every single comment that isn't a 10/10 rave lol. Especially when a huge debut does not tell the story about current material, it's a reflection of goodwill built by your catalogue. Legs tell the real story there and we're way too far from that at this point. Like I believe it already broke some Spotify records in terms of 2024? That's just people checking the album before any sort of impression is formed. And tbh I'd be way more surprised if she didn't break records (her main competition she's about to outsell 3 to 1 worst case scenario. No one else is on Taylor's level at the moment).

Every song on this album sounds the same.Kind of boring. At least on the 1989 album she changed it up with the upbeat, Shake It Off, the Power Ballad Blank Space and the remix of Bad Blood. Taylor will get the streams and the sales in the first week due to the massive hype but will it have longevity? I guess we will find out soon Ah yes, the big power ballad of 1989..... Blank Space?

Even if this fares comparatively poorly at radio or doesn't have the streaming longevity of Midnights ...it won't be long before R(TV) is released. You know radio will latch onto DBM or a vault track.

I laughed. Heart's "Alone" is a power balled. "Blank Space"? 😂😂 Apparently TTPD has already smashed through Midnights 184 milli first day record on Spotify (and that's not including the 2nd disc of the album).

You know radio will latch onto DBM or a vault track. I feel like we're setting ourselves up with DBM and it's gonna be another Enchanted where she doesn't even acknowledge it when the TV drops. I also honestly feel like if they had to go back to the old songs, Getaway Car has more potential? DBM is so resilient and big on streaming I feel like a lot of people outside the fanbase already know it so it wouldn't have as much room to grow.

Wait… BDILH is the only one that’s both Jack and Aaron??? Wow, mind blown now because that song is such a highlight and breath of fresh air on this album, and now it kinda makes sense why. Especially since it does feel like an amalgamation of sorts of a lot of her signature sounds. If she is really married to the two of them at this point, they need to become a happy thrupple moving forward.

Beyoncé beyonce'd all over country and to me it was kinda boring. I have zero expectations for Dua or Billie to drop career bests either. I don't know why but I feel like none of our current stars are innovating in any way that connects to me (but it's more than likely it's also a me problem) Gaga coming to shook you with her PRINCEss of darkness era just watch Nah, she's rihannaing us all right now and she knows it :'(

I feel like she has been stuck in the same general tempo and "feel" since Evermore and Folklore and I know most don't feel that way and I do know that the last three cds have had differences despite being in the same lane in other ways. But, releasing 31 songs that are along the same tempo and "feel" is definitely a choice, lmao. Like, it just seems to emphasize the fact that she needs to maybe experiment or change it up a bit now. Or maybe she doesn't, because people still adore it and go crazy for her and are already calling this her next AOTY winner, so maybe its just a sign that my own personal tastes have moved away from her for the time being.

I'm up to "So High School" now and this is the sound I was hoping for from this album. Can Aaron take the first half of the album and remix them all pls?!
In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to revisiting the album in the coming days and weeks because I know there are some gems in here once I get familiar with them on an individual basis. But "So High School" is the first immediate highlight to me so far.
Ditto "ThanK you aIMee"
Is "Peter" the "Champagne Problems" of this album? Mayyybeee

My personal guess is that this is hitting people a lot like folklore did at first. I think it’s going to take some time really sitting with and digesting the music to fully appreciate it. I certainly remember myself saying that all of folklore sounded the same and that it was a snooze fest I would not return to. It later became my favorite album, only to be surpassed by Midnights later. While as of right now, this is not sitting near the top of her discography ranking with midnights, folklore, evermore, or 1989, I think it easily could get there the more I listen to the music. She’s really telling a complete and heartbreaking story here. I don’t think the intention is for it to be digested as a collection of singles or track highlights. Regardless of how it ends up settling with me, I think it is an impressive feat.

There are so many stand out songs to me I’ve barely seen mentioned, I feel like I’m in an alternate reality.
After just one straight through listen, these are the ones I truly remember:
Fortnight But Daddy I Love Him Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me loml I Can Do It with a Broken Heart The Black Dog The Albatross I Look in People’s Windows Peter The Manuscript
The second “album,” if you will, is VERY evermore. I do agree that the first part of the first album feels very same-y and hard to distinguish. But on something like this, on first listen, that may be to be expected. I remember parts of folklore feeling that way at first, until the songs all gained their own identity.
I’m really pleased and can’t wait to live with some of this.

I think people being "bored" with her current sound only illuminates further the points she was making in her documentary where people are constantly expecting female artists to reivent themselves and shake up their image/sound over and over and over again to retain some "newness" and "excitement". I mean she's had several pivots in her career musically speaking and people are always wanting something different. Something more. It's a bit unreasonable to expect an artist to forever keep switching sounds and finding new musical territories to cross while maintaining some semblance of a fluid identity, but at the same time I understand in today's society attention spans are dwindling and interest is harder and harder to maintain. I think it's a collective issue and idk how artists moving forward are going to deal with it all honestly. Like genuinely what new sound is she going to do next that people would be happy with? Midnights was different than Folklore/Evermore. Lover was different from Reputation. 1989 was different from Red. Red was different from Speak Now. She's even rapped at this point. Now I'm not dense and I know people could be referring to simple instrumental changes, but again, there are only so many instruments and sounds to play around with at the end of the day. I don't envy her position at all. It can't be too samey, but it needs to be cohesive. It can't be too cohesive and needs to be varied. It needs to be different than her last, but not so different it's off-putting. It needs to sound fresh and new, but like the Taylor we know and love. Needs to be better than her last or she's slipping. It must be exhausting. lol She can switch producers, but at the end of the day, the songs are still going to remind someone of something she's put out and that's what happens when you're 15 years and over 10 albums into your career.

After listening through a couple times, these are the 12 I really enjoyed/will be adding to my playlists:
"Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)" "The Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" "So Long, London" "Fresh Out The Slammed" "Florida!!! (feat. Florence + The Machine)" "Guilty As Sin?" "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" "The Smallest Man Whoever Lived" "imgonnagetyouback" "How Did It End?" "So High School" "thanK you aIMee"
Would've made a great shorter album. I prefer the first half of the album to the second half. Hoping "imgonnagetyouback" and "So High School" get the single treatment

I do think after some criticisms of this album, knowing her (look at how she course-corrected after Reputation) her next album is likely to be much more upbeat and a "return" to high-gloss, radio-ready, sing-along choruses and high production, especially given she's in love. With that said, part of me wants her to kill the people pleaser part of herself and just continue doing what she wants at this point. She's earned it. I know this record had to be so cathartic for her. 🥰
