Moving album releases because of a single doesn't really make sense though. If she was releasing the album tomorrow, then maybe I could understand it but she said it was coming until next year. She's never said anything was coming at any point, where did you see that? I do think it is a little silly though that fans think she's still dropping a re-record this year. She's not going to let something compete with the Anthology vinyls. As much as I want something this year, she's definitely going to wait until the spring. We were referring to Lady Gaga's single release tomorrow (and her album that is scheduled for a February release). Most artists wouldn't move a release because of a single so some people thought maybe Taylor would release instead.

I’m sorry to ask this random question:
- Did anyone aside from the Swifties like Fortnight?
I feel like I have absolutely no idea how the public feels about this song, and it has almost 700 million streams.
I could not give you ANY seemingly anecdotal opinion non Swifties have.

This question seems pretty impossible to answer to me. But I think the best way to attempt it is that it doesn’t matter? “The swifties” account for such a large percentage of the overall audience, that the song will reach some milestones regardless. It’s possible/likely that she’s just at a point where she can release whatever she wants, hit potential be dammed, and achieve her goals.

I love ‘Fortnight’ tbh - it was a tune and I saw the vision. It just wasn’t the showstopping moment the first single of TTPD should have been.

I was there! What a night. I got to see the Eras tour in Dallas - stop #2 of the tour, if I remember correctly - and again for N2 in New Orleans, and wow! The tour is different, and not in a bad way. The changes that came as a result of TTPD aside, there was a whole different energy. It just felt so much more special. It absolutely didn't hurt that New Orleans is a haven for costuming and dressing up, which most did (whereas Dallas really didn't throw down re: lewks). Sabrina as the surprise guest was exceptionally well-received. Folks lost their minds and loved it (it's me, I am folks). Thrilled to have gotten to experience this tour twice. Best day of my year, without a doubt.

We were sitting on our hotel room a half mile from the 'Dome watching the live stream and I thought my daughter was going to throw my phone when Sabrina came out. Oh well. N1 was just as magical for us!!!

I have to say I *love* autumn because the folkmore albums get spun as if they are brand new. I feel like I’m noticing subtle things about every song I never noticed before this year. Absolutely sublime career moment for her.

Surprised no one else posted this, but puts the 'only successful because of variants!!!!' argument to bed.

^ People never should have even surmised (given they had any discernable knowledge of sales) it were variants that were largely responsible for Tortured Poet's success anyway, as, at most, they padded the album's 6 million total by 250-300k units collectively (outside debut week). If the usage of variants could shift millions upon millions of copies you'd see a lot more album totals bolstered by their implementation. It's reminiscent of the same misinformation as those who argue the album is "only liked" by hardcore fans, as if only hardcore fans are purchasing 45k copies weekly of an album released 7 months ago. There will always be those who try to discredit her success in whatever fashion they can.

Listening to Evermore tonight and it kind of made me sad because the whole Folklore/Evermore era was such a special once-in-a-lifetime moment that at the time was so special. We'll never have another moment like those 6 or so months again.

We'll never have another moment like those 6 or so months again. I agree, but I quickly snap out of that because I think part of why it was so special, was because we were legit in the middle of a pandemic. Those albums were legit lifelines for people. As much as I loved the moment at the time, I am glad we are out of it.

I think it emphasizes the significance of a good album (or in this case, series of albums) has on particular instances in our lives, either personal or in the case of these, the pandemic, which was a collective experience. Maybe that's what made Folklore/Evermore difference was because it was a collective experience that was tied to something we all experienced. But yeah, beyond that element, there are dozens of albums I have that are direct reminders of specific points in my life that are special or significant in one way or another. Great methods for time travel in that sense. :)

Sales are over 6 million now for TTPD. After they add in the Anthology sales, by the end of this year, she would be pushing closer and closer to 7 million in the USA. Those numbers are just astounding.

They keep doing ticket drops for Toronto but only for people who receive a text and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind who is getting them. I keep seeing Americans post about getting texts and tickets. So frustrating, just let me in pleeeeeease!!!

For me, Red will always be my autumn album. So many red and orange leaves near me at the moment and having Red playing loud in my car is *chef’s kiss*
Spring: Fearless Summer: Folklore, 1989, Lover and Speak Now Autumn: Red, Midnights, Reputation Winter: Evermore
I’ll have to wait for a full year to pass to choose how I feel about TTPD. I haven’t listened to Debut in full more than once or twice yet either

Oof. Why the Gracie collab nod smh. This may be a year where she goes home empty-handed IMO.

^ Agreed, I thought she was a shoo-in for Music Film but they didn't even nominate her there for whatever reason. Her best bet is Music Video but nowhere near locked.
Still wish they had submitted Cruel Summer (Live) for Pop Solo.

Yep. They most definitely should have submitted "Cruel Summer" live. It would have given her a much stronger chance at securing a win. Also agreed on music video being her strongest shot.
Personally I'm still irked about her having no SOTY win under her belt (particularly the loss with "Lover"). Given she's this century's best female pop songwriter (maybe aside from Lana), certainly the most prolific. I'd figure she'd have at least one in her collection after a near 20 year career, but she's certainly already been more than blessed so I can't really complain and she's not exactly owed anything, just would be nice to see her strongest talent specifically recognized by the academy.
She's sure to be disappointed this year at the results and I'm sure her potential snub will make headlines, but at least we'll get a (hopefully) incredible look and (possible) performance, which is great given they're so rare! What am I saying, she ain't blessing us with no performance. lol

I'll never understand what the criteria for Best Music Film are cause I always notice big/obvious contenders get snubbed for niche options. Probably more technical.
Her best bet is indeed Best Music Video and I agree that "Cruel Summer (Live)" could've at least gotten the Pop Solo nod that "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" couldn't get.
It's pretty interesting what happened at Pop Duo/Group Performance cause it looks like "LEVII'S JEANS" received more votes than "Fortnight", thus becoming Post Malone's entry and cancelling out "Fortnight". If an album cut (granted by the Grammy's favorite artist but still) beat out Taylor's overpromoted lead single, it pretty much indicates that this won't be a big year. And I'm fine with that. She was overrewarded last year with Midnights so I'd like her to have another big Grammy's year on a future, stronger project than TTPD.

They don't even give her song awards anymore for her big hits so Fortnight is an even longer shot. Her best bets are the video or Pop Vocal Album and even then I wouldn't say she's a favorite this year.
Cruel Summer would have been a safer bet but I get she wanted Poets to have it's moment.
