As the months have passed I think this is my favorite on the entire album. I love when she writes about things that are seemingly fictional (big "The Bolter" fan too). And I disagree, I think this one sounds phenomenal on the radio. There are multiple hooks, despite being pretty low-key and dark.

How do I like this more than the original? It highlights the hook of the song much stronger.

The acoustic version does a really good job of highlighting the hook. At a concert this is the version I'd like to hear. On the radio and my playlist I want the original. The beat takes me back the 80s (a bit) and is infectious. At times I wonder if the original could be improved if the tempo was slightly faster. This has been my #1 streamed song since its release!

I think what makes the hook stronger in the acoustic version that we're noticing is there being a clearer separation between the verses and chorus via the production, whereas in the original, the production remains too similar throughout blurring the verses and chorus together, which is why Post's bridge always stuck out in a good way, because it acted as a break from the homogeneity. In the acoustic version the verses are more stripped and pulled back and when the chorus hits the production builds and highlights the catchiness of the hook beautifully.

The monotone production and slow pace were always the flaws of "Fortnight" for me, which now I know could have easily been rectified by stripping back production in the verses a bit and speeding up the tempo throughout 15%. The song would have been so much more appreciated with just the slightest of tweaking.

I find the acoustic bland and that it does *not* serve the hooks of the song like the original does. The original is fantastic. I agree that it could have been a slightly faster tempo but the whole point of the song is that it’s a drone.

I think Jack works fine with Taylor.. it's just about them working together to make something a bit more upbeat along the lines of Cruel Summer. I think TTPD is a masterpiece but the next album should be 80% upbeat.
