Welp, it looks like Kanye's gonna receive his first #1 since ET and first lead credit #1 since Stronger. Personally I feel like this thing can run long enough to make the YE Top 10.
Though, I don't know what that says for society in the long term, considering we allowed a man who applauded Hitler and said he's going to go DEFCON3 on Jews to reach #1 again... but then again, we let Morgan Wallen dominate 2023, allowed a pro-lynch anthem to become the #1 song in the country, and let a song made by a guy that looks like a caveman dweller which also included an Epstein joke reach #1 in August for two weeks. So...

People have to realize the cancel audience usually has to actually have some overlap with the artist's demo. Kanye, Morgan, etc's audience is mostly straight men. They don't care about cancel culture. The people who were outraged over them were majority people who rarely (or absolutely never) listen to their music to even begin with. Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift doing something like what they did would have a different effect simply because their fanbase is more concerned with ethics/politics and those artists have made their brand about being 'good/kind people'. Lizzo is the only artist who has noticeably been “cancelled” - and still barely, her streams are down but she’s still presenting at the Grammy’s etc despite her vile sexual assault accusations The only reason hers is mildly successful is because her audience for her h&m empowerment music is upper class white women, the only sizable demographic to really care about this stuff. Seeing how her your grossed over $100,000,000, I highly doubt that Lizzo has a cancellation

I said a few days ago that Carnival is going to grow into a monster, usurping Beyoncé, because the song is legitimately a great song. I heard the song inadvertently, and the song instantly became transfixing. I knew that people, primarily straight guys, outside of his spheres who heard the song would go insane for it. The fact that it has been ensconced within the top two of streaming for weeks now really says everything

Question… Kanye released a Carnival EP that is now no.1 on iTunes album s charts. The EP solely consists of carnival remixes. Will that count towards the hot 100 or 200?? Definitely not the Hot 100. The versions included there would need to be sold separately. Regarding the Billboard 200, I'm not sure. I don't recall there being an EP that consisted of remixes of the same song that has charted. Drake's Scary Hours EPs which had two and three different songs didn't chart, so my guess is it won't chart in the Billboard 200.

We have to laugh!

I'm genuinely curious, is there anybody on here who's casually streaming Carnival? Like somebody who isn't a Kanye die hard and is just streaming Carnival while ignoring the rest of the album? Since at this point those are the people making it such a big hit and I don't get it at all, I genuinely want to understand why this song became such a juggernaut To be posting these consistently massive streaming numbers for weeks now, clearly it's general public not just Kanye stans. Radio and digital sales are keeping Beyonce above him. If he releases a music video, he's probably getting the #1. That's what I'm saying, I just don't understand why the general public is going so hard for this song while nothing else on the album is remotely as popular. I genuinely want to figure out why cause it's baffling to me
