This is so strange to follow, specially on streaming where it's HURTING to even make most top 100s. I wonder what went wrong or if it's just the usual streaming killed post-album singles fever.

Wasn't this the top streaming song aside from the singles and intro within the first month or two of release? I think its a mixture of post album release singles struggling in the streaming era and it going viral so early on.

it's still early to tell, but I think the TBIM moment came and went, and we all expected that - it really needed a remix to revive the song (with SZA, Tinashe, Normani, Doja, Summer Walker...idk). Also, it couldn't live up to its full potential on TikTok because Ariana's music was banned from it at the time. The MV is fantastic tho!

Makes sense. I wonder if they filmed additional scenes for an updated music video of the remixed version.
2/3 singles having feature remixes (3/4 if Supernatural f/ Troye is next) feels a bit extra but kind of necessary in the streaming era.

If Brandy/Monica get credit on Mediabase/ this would be there first appearances since the early 2000s? I can't remember. I don't think either of them charted since 2010 though? Not sure

Monica's last appearance was the week of 10/1/2004
I actually thought Monica was a bit later with that song she did with Dem franchize boyz but I guess it never made CHR.

My dreams came true 😂 Don’t Wanna Break Up Again was SO underwhelming on first listen, but I can’t get it out of my head. The Boy Is Mine is slickkkkkk. Just begging for a Brandy & Monica remix. The rest of the album is alright. It’s kinda the perfect “friends are over having a few drinks and sharing the mirror doing makeup, before we head to a club because the main character girl broke up with her boyfriend 6 days ago” record. |
