They might save the Post song to see how after the song with Taylor and Morgan does. We sill don't know what Taylor is going to do for her lead single yet either so maybe it is the one with Post? But both of these Beyoce tracks are solid, they can both be big CHR hits

Post’s team would likely be aware of that, and communicate now isn’t a good time for Levii’s as such. Will be a damn shame if they skip at least a pop push for that song this era though, she will be hard pressed to get another song as surefire CHR hit as that one again.

She has a big hit with Texas Hold ‘Em’ this go, and I think she realizes she needs to play the game if she wants the stupid prizes. Proper singles = visibility and era legs outside of the hive AKA Grammy voters.

Welp, here we go. I'm personally optimistic on its chances at pop and hot AC. Lets go Milyonce!

I still don’t get the hype about this song. I like it, but have many more songs from “Cowboy Carter” that I like better. It’s nice and they both sound great it’s just not a favorite yet. (Whenever I right a post like this within a couple of weeks I always have a change of heart).. lol Given it seems CHR is toying with letting THE stall in the lower top ten, I think this song would be a pretty massive mistake to send next to the format. It’s far too country. I don’t see how it could do better on any format than THE besides country, which is going to be incredibly dicey for her no matter what they push. I think if they kept building momentum with another big hit or two, then send this at the end of the era with an event video… then maybe it can be a big hit. Otherwise I’d see this stalling around #20 on CHR and it’s not gonna get the surprise urban/rhythmic etc support this time. Levii’s Jeans is the very very obvious hit as far as the poppy formats go. It's already almost top 30 on CHR before even being sent for adds. You really think it'll miss the top 20...?

Good, it’s not my favorite from the album, but I think it could perform decently on radio. But imo Bodyguard is the real smash from CC, it’s giving me late summer/early fall type vibes. Then you also have Levii‘s Jeans, and Tyrant could be huge on Urban Radio.

Well, I hope to be wrong. This will be the most country sounding song to go top 10 on CHR if it does… maybe ever? I think people overlook how stuff like Last Night and Fast Car are straight up pop songs sung by country voices. This is straight up country sung by poppier voices, idk if that will work. Even Taylor had to make pop mixes of most of her early country singles to get CHR on board. Texas Hold ‘Em is the extremely rare unicorn song that is pretty much equal parts country and pop, that’s why it was such a brilliant play to lead the era.

I dunno about this one, I like it, but I think this is the kind of song that really needs live performances to sell it. If Miley and Beyoncé stepped on a stage and did this, it would probably fly to #1 based simply on the hype. But let's be real, that isn't happening.
On it's own though, it feels like a harder sell than the Post Malone collab. A song being bigger out of the gate isn't always a good indicator of what's necessarily the best single. Hope I'm wrong though!

I do really like this song, but am kinda disappointed with it being the second single. I agree with others that there are other songs that seem more pop friendly. I was hoping for the Post Malone collabo to be the next single, but I get that it isn't if he's apart of a number of other singles.
I'm still rooting for this to do well here and other formats. And hoping there can be more singles as there are a number of potential smashes on this album.

On it's own though, it feels like a harder sell than the Post Malone collab. A song being bigger out of the gate isn't always a good indicator of what's necessarily the best single. Hope I'm wrong though! It’s my absolute least favorite part of the streaming era tbh (the way the labels have just conceded that most streamed song on album release = best next single). What bugs me is they seem totally oblivious to how the most streamed songs are almost ALWAYS the biggest feature on the album (aka this) or the first 2-3 tracks on the album. That can really have nothing to do with actual hit potential honestly. I also am old school in thinking picking singles is an actual art and talent. Sometimes whatever the fans are latching onto on the album at first is not what I think would actually be the biggest hits on there at all, and I used to be proven right about that all the time back when labels didn’t just follow the streaming pick so much. And we still often see how the streaming choice ends up underperforming as a single. Any song that’s a “grower” is often going to get overlooked at first on streaming, yet those tend to be your biggest hits with an actual push to increase awareness among the public. I think Levii’s Jeans has that grower effect where the burn rate feels non-existent and it just gets more and more stuck in your head, hence why I’m adament about its release. And lbr, anything after the 3rd single has become high risk for being irrelevant in the streaming era no matter what, so it really needs to be released next or she flushed a huge hit down the drain imo (bigger than THE on this format id say).

...so then explain the adds haul it's gotten over the past two weeks and the fact that it's now charting on multiple formats (including top 30 on Pop already!). "Not the second single", my ass.

Probably preemptively covering their butts in case it hits a brick wall. "It wasn't actually a single!"

well.. Beyonce or columbia said nothing about second single tho. also no impact date yet. but they're clearly pushing this as upcoming single.
#32 debut on Australia Radio and #21 debut on New Zealand Radio.

Agreed with a few others in the thread that they're likely testing the waters before officially declaring it as the second single, since it's a bit of a risky single choice and pop often isn't kind to slower songs.

Looks like radio is clearly willing to play it. It's collapsing in streaming though which is concerning.

so... this being second single was fake news To provide some clarification, that account wasn't supposed to share any DM screenshots. Basically, we got the confirmation from someone at Columbia and then a day later they reached out asking us to take it down because they haven't decided on an official date yet. I was in touch with this person yesterday and he never mentioned anything about another single choice.

I think radio obviously wants to play it.... the label and those involved maybe haven't decided it seems? But radio is going to play it because people are asking for it. Not sure why they wouldn't just push it? A great music video and live performances could really do wonders as well. Beyonce needs to get out and promote as well.

I was told it was serviced, but what seems to be up in the air is whether or not they're going to give it an actually add date or if they will end up going with a different single choice which I don't see happening.

I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time CHR has hopped on a buzzy track with good streaming after an album release… the thing is that doesn’t always = hit on the format. It’s not that hard for this type of high profile collab to get to the top 20 range. Miley is still hot on the format, as evidenced by how high they took the dreadful UTBY with almost no streaming support. It’s after top 20 that stuff can start to stall if it’s not the most “CHR friendly” song, and I really don’t think this is tbh. But I do want it to smash.

Try as I might I still can't get really into this. When it comes on I don't often skip it, but it's middle of the pack as far as the album is concerned.
LEVII'S JEANS or TYRANT seem like infinitely better single options, especially heading into summer.
