I think the previous week was its best chance at #1 with his album being released. While radio for it has yet to peak for it, streaming for it needs a second wind. If Taylor manages to release a song that can manage to stay at #1 for a long stretch, it would need to wait that out and for Too Sweet also to drop below it. It is a relatively young song in the Hot 100, so, I still think it has a chance, but probably an outside one.

cant speak for billy or others, but its definitely the correct and perhaps only move for taylor at this point. she has done many different genres and created a fanbase that stretches from all these genres. so if she were to drop a single, regardless of how good it is, and how regardless of how many fans from one section of her base who are now happy, there will certainly be  equality as many who will complain and proclaim how "meh this is not my cup of tea" and potentially skip the album altogether or even cancel their pre-orders. 

so its much better and safer for her to keep everyone in the dark and have them all tune in day 1, and break records while doing it.

Generally, most songs from those album bombs haven't managed to stick around the top 10 for long after debuting them. Those random Tik Tok songs have good streaming but little radio airplay support which makes it hard for them to reach the top 10.

no. 05/04 week will be 51st week for CS, so the #26-#50 area is still a safe zone for it. That will change 2 weeks from the TTPD release (week 05/18), and once it falls out of the top 25 it'll go recurrent.

Probably not because thankfully, the week TTPD drops, CS will be in its 51st week, so as long as it can stay in the top 50 (all but certain) as well as stay in or rise back into the top 25 after 2 weeks, it's good.

Agree that I think it was chosen strategically. It gives an extra week buffer in case the album tracks manage to hang on and crowd the top 25, it's the launch of spring break for schools in NY (not sure about the rest of the country) which may have a minor impact on streaming, and it's the last of the major album bombs for awhile. Meaning there won't be a ton threatening to push CS off the charts after her own bomb.

She's a mastermind.
