Who would’ve thought Taylor would get dethroned on Spotify & Apple after 1.5 weeks by two different songs. That’s not even a jab at her, it just shows that the streaming ecosystem is *really* competitive right now. Just as how nearly the entire top 20 on US Spotify was doing 1 million daily even without her album bomb.

Seems like this year is about to pass even 2018-2019 streaming for hits.

"Say So"? Doja herself had several hits that sounded like it before she sorta ditched that sound just when it was at it's peak. It's understandable people gravitate to it. Just like "Nonsense" was a hit bc it sounded like exactly the type of Ariana song everyone was craving then. I don't need Ms. Sabrina to reinvent the wheel if she's gonna serve fun bops, especially when Taylor Swift crawled back to the folklore forrest for some reason and Beyoncé ditched Dance for Country. The market needs basic bops from time to time and it seems like the C-Lister generation of Ava Max, Zara Larsson and Bebe Rexha aren't up for the task at this moment.

I wish what you said was true that autoplay deals would only last a week or 2, but that isnot true proven by benton boom's Beautiful Khia. it was going up for a whole month straight, from 3M all the way to 8M. looks to me like autoplay can be kept on as long as you are paying. 

taylor should just pay a new Khia and their 1:59 min soundbite autoplay every week so as to deny the hack from the current Khia. 

Taylor has always been the one pop girl to pull AM numbers comparable to Drake or Future, is this a serious argument?

And I don't know if you use the app but Beautiful Things was everywhere on TikTok. The 8M figure is huge but also in line with the huge numbers every Spotify hit has been pulling this year-- just before TTPD the top 5 cutoff on global Spotify was WCBF with 6.4M, while exactly a year ago it Kill Bill with 4.3M.

Never. Because "autoplay" does not mean "hit song I don't like" it refers to the autoplay mechanism on Spotify.

I'm just glad Sabrina finally got herself a hit and is a possibility for having the song of the summer, whatever album she releases will have a lot of eyes on it and it's nice to see her extend her fanbase because she has a lot of talent (imho)

Espresso dethroning Fortnight on Spotify in both the US and Globally is surprising to say the least but im not that mad about it. The song is pretty good and oozes “song of the summer” (though frankly i think i like Feather a little more lol)

Hope both Bar Song and Espresso can nab at least a week at #1, insane achievements for both if they did! Though I wouldn’t rule it out yet for Espresso to dominate the entire summer proper season at the top of the chart. Is the last such bubblegum pop multi-week hot 100 #1 Carly’s CMM? Having a hard time remembering others, it’s not like that kind of pop tops the chart all that often.

And just saying that this week basically proves my point that my “qualifying week” proposal would in fact work for eliminating so many one week wonder high peaks. Even the mighty Taylor would have only pulled out 1 top 5 and 3 top tens under such rules, meaning basically everyone else wouldn’t be getting multiple top tens with album bombs anymore. And no I don’t need to be told how some don’t agree with me that flash in the pans need to be mitigated on the chart more these days, yall have made that very clear. Just saying it does indeed take care of one week wonders taking over the prestige spots of the chart is all.
