I dont see anything else beating out Kendrick and he might have a second week at #1 if he keeps up with these insane numbers. Post/Morgan and Tommy Richman might be competition though. Chart watching is finally exciting again!

Recently I found it very exciting to see how many spots Taylor would take over before anyone else showed up on the chart.

Taylor was nice to see, but it kinda was nothing new as it was expected that she would smash once again regardless. What is really more interesting are the number of songs that are actually SMASHING. Songs like Espresso, Million Dollar Baby, A Bar Song, Like That, Too Sweet, and Not Like Us (just the Kendrick/Drake beef in general), these are new songs that are all doing over 200+ points a week which would’ve been a rare occasion to see just a year and a half ago.

"He Knows" is catchy. It should be another top 40 hit for Camila Cabello and Lil' Nas X. This is much better than her last song "I LUV IT".

Kendrick and Tommy numbers are abnormal right now. Sabrina holds very good too. So Post/Morgan debut in 4-7 range would be a good result.

I think it should still be in the running for hot 100 #1 then ? especially if Kendrick starts to slip.   Post will have huge airplay on multiple formats along with downloads and streaming will be solid as well.

^It should be. It remains to be seen how well Not Like Us can hold up in streaming this week. For both songs, that will be the most important component in terms of weekly Hot 100 points. Although, I Had Some Help being played at radio one day early will probably end up with slightly lower weekly numbers, given that radio audience for the first day won't count toward this week, resulting in a drop in its rolling cumulative weekly audience for next Thursday.

^No chance, since radio airplay doesn't count enough. Tucson Too Late according to HITS' Hot 100 prediction had over 28M in radio audience and was only at #91. It still managed about 2 million streams.

I think it can easily move up past "Family Matters" but the challenge will be moving up from there.

We had a big discussion about this in regards to expresso last week.

Spotify has a feature called autoplay where the algorithm choose songs to play after an album or playlist ends.

Starting in January 2023, Spotify implemented a feature where labels could pay for songs to get boosted placements in the algorithm. Boost usually kicks in the beginning of the second week and last a few weeks and is pretty significant. second week  autoplay boost doesn't occur for all hit songs.

too sweet and expresso were recent beneficiaries.  some past songs that were heavily boosted on autoplay were nonsense, flowers,  greedy, houdini. i don't track rap songs but like several used the feature.

no idea if " not like us" is getting that paid promotion but  paid autoplay is just another way labels promote songs.

Oof that all time top ten has so many mid songs in it and the fact that the only female song is 'Dance Monkey'? Tragic. But we know charts aren't about quality, etc.

I didn't realize that the Post song is his with a Morgan feature. Does that make a difference? I dunno. Either way seems pretty palatable and could have a lengthy run, including at the top spot. But it is one the most crowded markets in recent memory which is so fun.

That's not how autoplay on Spotify works. They don't just put whatever song is #1 on everybody's autoplay.

Autoplay is meant to generate similar songs to the song/playlist/album you've just finished (basically to try to guess music that you will like so you keep listening without turning it off or manually having to change the songs). It takes into account what songs, artists, genres, languages and time period you normally listen to, and also takes into account the genre, language, decade, etc, of the song/playlist/album you listened to and also takes into account songs that other people who listened to the song/playlist/album you just finished like to listen to.

If you're listening to obscure 80's Swedish electropop music, and have never listened to a Hozier song, and hardly every listen to modern alternative music, then Hozier should not be coming up on autoplay, and if he is, you know something is wrong.

A lot of absolutely massive hits have never, ever, not even once, come up on autoplay for me. If it's a feature you use every day it's very noticeable when a song is being artificially boosted in the algorithm.

I'm not actually that bothered by labels trying to boost their songs. I understand why they're doing it. They want to try to get the mono-culture hit songs back again, which I completely understand (it essentially mimics the days when the public were forced to keep hearing songs on the radio and eventually they become super well-known and can grow on people). And you can just skip or block songs that you don't like, so I can live with it. But this practice definitely will give a big boost to certain song's streams.

I'm actually mostly bothered by people denying that it is happening tbh, because it genuinely is happening and I don't like being made to think that I am going crazy or making up lies when I'm not doing that.
