Not happy for Tay this week, my respect for her has really decreased. The way she has these vendettas and tries to push down other artists, even if the slights are only imagined, is really disgusting.

Drake and Kendrick are beefing to push theirs singles up the chart. Billie is releasing 300 variants & bad quality vinyl's that are still bad for the environment, while complaining about everyone else doing it & Taylor is showing her merciless capitalism, and competitiveness.
I'm just going to enjoy music. People can buy and consume whatever they want. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything. Nobody is "better" or "worse" or owes anyone anything, and they're all massively rich.

Regardless how this pans out, wouldn't Billie's numbers put her at like the third biggest debut for the year?
A number 1 is nice, but at the end of the day; the sales matter much more.

I'm sure it'd be a different story if, for example, Adele decided do surprise drop her 4th album on Reputation or Lover day - WWIII. For who? Certainly not me. I know her (or any artist) placing at #1, or #2, has absolutely no bearing on my life whatsoever. I like to watch charts and keep up with stats, but my mood isn't dependent on where the artist I like places or how they perform in general. I stopped letting my emotions be affected or dictated by such trivial things years ago. Taylor nor any other big name is harmed or hurt by a singular week's charting. Billie's album will still go on to do big things. Billie isn't going to fall into a deep depression because she debuts at #2. I doubt she even cares a lot about placement (and if she does, she can continue to fight it, as she has been). Taylor's album will still sell like hotcakes and the world will go on. They'll both still be filthy rich people who won't even care that people are fighting their battles. lol If anything I understand the criticism itself (as I criticized her for trying to torpedo Katy Perry when she dropped Witness by releasing her entire back catalog to Spotify on the same day) just think the level of vitriol is a bit much. |

The jump from clinging to the top spot to wagering war on all women is a bit much imo.
For instance, I'm, according to several metrics, one of the highest performing teachers at my school. I have historically had the highest test scores, do well on formal observations and other formal evaluations, and have assumed several additional responsibilities over the years as recognition for my hard work.
I'm also an instructional coach and department chair. I adamantly want all of the teachers I work with to improve their practice. Get better results. Help more children. Etc, etc.
But at the end of the day, I also strongly desire outperforming all of those teachers on formal metrics. That doesn't make me a villain. I want them to succeed... but I'm not laying down and playing dead. It's possible for everyone to "win".

Right now everyone’s on the hate train again because she’s so over saturated and because no one can keep her name out of their mouth. The crazy thing is how people continuously try to villainize her for literally the smallest reasons. “Oh God, Taylor’s jet fuel is astronomical” not even in the top 10 of users. ”Taylor is trying to block my fave” it’s literally a business/music industry and she has every right to release what she wants, when she wants. If people had selling power like her, they’d do it more often too. I’m glad Taylor has learned not to listen to the opinions of sheep, otherwise she would be miserable. Her attending football games caused an uproar, which is just proof that she can’t win with some people. She could cure cancer and people would find fault in it. So I’m glad she’s finally said “fuck it” and just does what she wants. You have *certain artists* cheating with other people’s husbands but Taylor is a villain because she releases special editions on someone else’s “release week”… entitled much? |

As far as I’m concerned Taylor IS my favorite artist of all time, she has shown up as my top artist for every single year I’ve had Apple. However, I can admit when her practices are wrong and should be called out. It’s not a vendetta and the problem lies in the fact that many people here refuse to think she can do anything wrong. Will this cause me to boycott her forever, Absolutely not. But am I disappointed that she went out of her way to steal another female pop star’s spotlight this week? Yes.

I'm not sure if I live for or loathe Taylor's pettiness, but I do wish Taylor would go full tilt into the petty/vengeful/spiteful/unforgiving/darker side of her personality in one album. I know we've caught glimpses beyond her very carefully constructed persona, but I wanna see her completely shed the last ounce of care she has for public perception (cause people are gonna sh** on her regardless) and just embrace who she is completely, warts and all, with some cockiness thrown in and people would likely respect it more. I think she's headed that way if TTPD is any indication (as some songs aren't flattering to her at all), but I don't want 65% of her truth anymore. lol
