i'm surprised people seem to be going for this because this strikes me as SO stale and rehashed -- like not only does the instrumental sound like the first result you'd get by searching "eminem - without me type beat," but it reuses the *exact* same "guess who's back" intro ,,,, yes i know it's an intentional callback yadda yadda but the least he could've done is called back to a song of his he isn't also jacking the beat from or like. at least change a couple words of it or smth
im not saying lyrical miracle staccato eminem is much better but he has made songs in that style that are worth listening to (with darkness off his last album being a genuine career highlight) and at minimum i genuinely believed that was the style of music he wanted to make ,,,, this on the other hand reeks of him not knowing what to do next, then remembering that cycles of nostalgia last around 20 years and cashing in the easy hit. not saying it's AWFUL, but we've literally heard this exact song before. predicting a fast rise and fall

It’s working though. It could give him his first pop hit in years, which may or may not matter, but in terms of getting certain kinds if attention and press (ie, VMAs, etc), it helps. Plus, the narrative around it does work. The whole death of Slim Shady bit. At the very least, this would be the last time he’d ever do these types of songs.

Glad they are not waiting too long but letting Houdini still build a bit. It will be interesting to see if they launch a "Big" 2nd single that week. Feature with Jelly roll? Rihanna? Ed? Megan Thee Stallion?? LOL I almost wonder if she was in on that "diss" in Houdini because she didn't even comment on it. Eminem isn't some nobody and she went off on less in the past. It would be pretty hilarious if they did a song together.
also really hoping to get a Kendrick or J cole feature. Even post malone or the weeknd would be sweet also

People have been crying for the past ten years about wanting the "old Eminem back". Slim Shady is the dark cloud that's followed him post Recovery/MMLP 2. I think this whole album concept is brilliant and makes total sense for him. And going by those early albums, he always had a silly/commercial single to launch the era with the albums always being darker/more serious.

That is why I was initially worried if this would go past top 20 on chr! But I am still being hopeful with the positive updates and hopefully they will get on board asap. |

It's probably gonna hit a brick wall when it gets between #15 to #20. I see the song peaking between #10 to #15 on Pop. Ageism is the big factor that will prevent this from being a huge Pop hit. |
