I totally get what she’s saying, and it’s absolutely not okay how people may have treated her, there HAS to be boundaries, but she’s one of the biggest success stories and come-ups of this decade. What did she expect would happen if she became popular? That people would just magically leave her alone?

We’ve all seen how some of today’s pop girlies have had to pivot when it comes to how they interact (or actually don’t) with their fans due to how toxic social media has become (Ariana and Taylor come to mind, in particular). I hope she takes a breather for herself, enjoys the success that has so suddenly but deservedly come her way, but also become friends with a veteran pop girl or two who has some wisdom on this kind of thing to send Chappell’s way to help her cope with the negative aspects of fame.

She is a treasure.

I have to agree that I don’t think Chappell expected to get so big so quickly and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to adjust to that new life. I'll always be impressed with how levelheaded 16 year old Lorde was when she got a huge #1 hit and how well she seemed to handle sudden fame.
It helped that her more chill personality and music probably attracted the like.

Obviously the gen Z leaders Olivia and billie had fanbases for years before their debut albums so they'd had time to adjust.

It really sucks that people can't just stan normally. When I stanned, I just bought music, played it, and bickered with fans of other artists on the internet lol.

That is really creepy behavior and not acceptable at all. I’m glad Chappell is setting boundaries. At this point, it’s about her safety and the safety of her family and friends.

I totally understand Chappell's frustrations and her requests are perfectly reasonable; people are totally out of control in a lot of respects when it comes to famous people. With that said, she's not going to handle being famous or a "main pop girlie" well at all because she's gonna be essentially taking on a fight against the whole stan culture world and very few people are even going to see what she's asking, let alone take notes, or respect her wishes. I'd suggest instead she tighten up security and have her family change their numbers and take into account/prepare for her fame going forward as it's much easier to alter things yourself than it is to ask the world to change. I know she wants to be treated no differently than she was before fame, but we are far from a society in which that's going to be genuinely possible everywhere she goes.
