Girl just log onto Spotify and stream away! I tried, and it takes me to like 5 other songs first. I’m not playing that game. In fact, I used up all my skips before the song actually played. Fuck Spotify! It sucks. I don’t know why it’s so popular. You have to pay for a Spotify subscription ($11/month before taxes) to select the song you actually want to hear. Otherwise, the free account acts kind of like Pandora where it plays an online radio selection based on the song you selected and includes ads.

Fuck Spotify! It sucks. I don’t know why it’s so popular. Are you serious? If you want to play songs without it making you shuffle or listen to ads, you pay for Spotify Premium. Spotify's free version is the only platform besides YouTube that actually lets users listen to music for free without the radio format like Pandora. Every streaming platform is a subscription where you pay and get access to tens of million of songs. Spotify is no different from Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, etc. I mean this is the kindest way possible but I would've never expected someone on a music forum didn't understand how music streaming services work in 2024 lol. Not saying you need to use one, just more so how it works. Spotify Premium is the way to go imo. The layout is kind of meh, but their features are what keeps me there. The generated playlists for every mood, automated playlists, Discover Weekly, EOY Wrapped features, connecting with friends, easily playable to other devices, last.fm connectivity, etc are all great. So much good stuff they're doing now, my only gripe is the continued unnecessary changes to their layout. Not to try and sell you on Spotify, but why not be able to play any song any time you want for essentially the same price as one album a month? No radio involved like Pandora, where you can't really choose what you want to listen to. I couldn't imagine choosing that over Spotify these days, I guess I've been on streaming for about 7 or 8 years so that's probably why it's shocking to me. I'd love to hear your perspective.

When honesty is confused for nastiness, LMFAO. I SWEAR...Pulse is so wild! I'm sure when the album flops into oblivion, it will be like "Wow, you H8RRRRSS just couldn't give great music a chance!!11!"

Yea I figured that’s how it works. I guess I just don’t care enough about new music, or really any music to justify adding another monthly bill. I have SiriusXM, and that’s mainly for Howard Stern. I listen to those stations on there, Hits1, BPM, etc. I’d say 80% of the time I’m listening to nothing tho in the car. I like silence these days. I have my Pandora stations for the gym, and I buy my favs albums on iTunes for the gym also, and that’s about it. I’m way too bogged down with work and my YouTube channel to be obsessively listening to new pop artists. I was never an album listener anyways. Dont have time for that. I say bring back the Shuffle! lol And when I say I don’t know any of Kendrick Lamar’s music it’s true. I just don’t listen to music like that anymore.

It’s weird that this didn’t receive a single spin from pop radios. I mean not even a curiosity spin? On the first day it came out KIIS-FM played it 2 - 3 times but other than that I'm not sure

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about the quality of the album on Friday, I'm hoping a few songs are the level of Cry About It Later, Hummingbird Heartbeat, etc. so we'll see.
Also streaming for $9.99/month has existed since at least the mid-2000s. In high school, my friend and her mom paid for Rhapsody (I think?), which was essentially what Spotify and Apple Music are, and as a music lover it blew my mind that I could just search for any song and play it instantly or listen to albums that I had on my wishlist. It was not hard for me to convert to streaming instead of shelling out $12-20 dollars for new CDs.

Gotcha, glad to see someone else's perspective on this subject. One thing is you wouldn't necessarily have to listen to new artists. You could listen to whatever you'd like. It's all there so if you wanted to listen to your favs or some other stuff it's all available. Feel like that would be a money saver over buying albums on iTunes. Although for me, I enjoy buying a physical product sometimes for my favorites like a CD or vinyl. I might not use them a lot but I like having my collection and having something to physically own.

My original plan was to purchase this album on vinyl, like I have been for all of the albums I have purchased in the last year or so. That said, based on the quality of the songs that have been released, I am rethinking that strategy because I don't want to mar my collection and break my perfect streak of flawless albums. I MIGHT buy it on CD just to have the physical, but, for once, rather than get something on release date and run the risk of being disappointed, I think I will wait, listen to clips on Thursday night and make my decision. If I like the rest of the songs that haven't been released, I don't want to stream them a lot because I don't want Luke to get any money outside of the initial purchase of the album. Hell, even for streams, doesn't it take like a million streams to even get a penny?

Also SPRΞΞ going back to the Kendrick Lamar subject, if you were to get streaming or at all check out some of Kendrick's discography I think there's multiple ways to go. "DAMN" is Kendrick's mainstream leaning album, lots of hits, catchy hooks and a pretty solid track listing. "To Pimp A Butterfly" is his most lyrically heavy but incorporates some jazz elements in which makes it such a good listen sonically. It's currently rated the #1 album of all time on RateYourMusic. "Good Kid, Maad City" has a good mix between both lyrics and catchy hooks. Most fans would probably consider that their personal favorite and has tons of hits on there to boot (Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Swimming Pools (Drank), Poetic Justice, Money Trees, MAAD City, etc.). I feel like those three are essential 2010s albums that any music listener could enjoy. I would definitely recommend them.

I mean, I totally get it. I wish I had that desire to surround myself with music all the time. But when I’m working 12 hour shifts and dealing with screaming kids and trashy, loud tourists, I simply enjoy my peace and quiet. ESPECIALLY driving home. I want no music or noise whatsoever. So my music time is basically the gym. Classic rock playlists, oldskool trance/house music, 70’s, 80’s, etc. I don’t feel the need to spend $10 a month on something when I’m perfectly content with ads on Pandora playlists.

The Video Vanguard Medley hasn't done much to the recipients' careers in recent years. Let's look:
2018: J. Lo (still waiting for the next hit) 2019: Missy Elliott (still waiting for the next album or I guess any release whatsoever) 2021: Nicki Minaj (I guess she is still relevant but not because the medley) 2023: Shakira (she had the big viral hits with Bizarrap and Karol G before the medley but not much since - it's been only a year though)
So yeah, don't expect Katy suddenly selling/streaming bucketloads because of the medley.

Spotify Free is only worth it through a computer IMO, I get by perfectly well on desktop/through my browser with plenty of control over what I'm playing (with the caveat of you can't control the ads obvs). I never use Spotify on my phone. Anyway, it only took 4 days for us to get some spins on the board. MOCK-UP:-- ?? KATY PERRY I’m His, He’s Mine f/Doechii 4 0 4 0.015

Terrible. She has no chance of a top 10 album. Mixtape Pluto dropping and going number 1 as deserved. She really fucked up starting by announcing leaving idol for this bs

This song and video are going to pop music history, Katy is back! History in terms of the biggest flop for her artist of her stature? I'm kinda confused...scratch that...VERY confused...about the type of history you think she is going to make with this release. Also, since the streams have literally decreased with each release from the new album, how is Katy back? Even her flop albums before this both had singles that performed solidly, so I don't know if you are joking or what.

Doja is in no rush to do full time pop again let alone with Luke. She credited the man on Woman and gave him free royalties so he wouldn't interfere with her last album.

Let's see if this random poll results in streams for the song. I guess not. It would be nice if she got ONE hit from this album, but they will be on the...4th single/"promo single"/whatever, so I dunno.
