I think they also thought the Luke thing wasn't gonna be a big deal, which admittedly it wouldn't have been if the songs themselves connected in any meaningful way (see: the hits he's had in the past few years).

Just went through the actual lyrics, this trash took 8 or 9 writers? What did they do? Contribute a word each? This is such a tired criticism. Writing credits work as a way to distribute revenues amongst all the contributors to the song, which is a team effort. Having your names on a song doesn't mean much beyond you have been involved in the process. Katy and Doechii are credited, the sample "Gypsy Woman"'s creators Crystal Waters and Neal Conway are credited, the two producers (Luke and Rocco Valdes) are credited. The other 4 writers (including R. City and LunchMoney Lewis) probably worked together in a writing camp for this album. |

My point wasn’t that, my point was regarding the contributions of all these songwriters, part of which Ty answered above, the criticism being for not just this track but tracks wherever you see a swirl of songwriters but you get reductive lines. |

Everyone listens to and appreciates music for different reasons. Some mindlessly listen and only require a good beat. Some need to feel a particular emotion in order to enjoy a song. Others might want some level of artistry and effort in their music. Some incorporate and desire it all. Personally, I don't necessarily live and die by the lyric (as there are absolutely poorly written songs I do enjoy), but if the lyrics are bad enough, if the artistry is absolutely lacking it can absolutely challenge how much I enjoy the song and how I rank it. Also, even if successful at the end of the day, given Katy is a writer, if she were to continually release songs that are poorly written, it will only damage her reputation as a songwriter and I'm sure she doesn't want that as she seemingly takes her work seriously. |

This song has grown on me and I also like listening to it at 1.25 speed on YouTube sometimes because it sounds closer to the original Crystal Waters song. That said, I agree with 👑 Eloquent ™ where my own personal preference of music I enjoy the most has excellent lyricism, interesting production and instrumentals, and solid vocals including background vocal arrangements, if applicable. In other words - the full package. Not that I don't enjoy things that don't make the mark of all of that, but those songs don't rise to my upper echelon of enjoyment. |

That would only require around, what, 300 spins across the nation to hit top 50? I don't think most would be surprised to see her clear that. Especially given "Woman's World" hit top 20 just last month (deal or not). Meanwhile I would be thrilled if this somehow did take off, as it's actually one of the bops on 143 IMO! Video is ace too! I honestly think had this or "Gorgeous" led we'd be in a whole different ballpark (maybe not a massive comeback, but at the very least far better recieved). |

This is the song performing the best on streaming and honestly it’s by far the best option IMO. Lifetimes was not going to work but it is probably the second best choice behind this

Never got an adds date or a push of any kind. It SHOULD'VE, but it didn't. But haters and the like think anything released is an official single. That's where that notion comes from. Same goes for this song, up until the adds date. I'm glad it was mentioned this is the official 2nd single, so it puts all those tired theories to rest regarding releases. It's like saying Never Worn White was a single which it obviously never was. |
