Ouch. I am actually surprised by the low debut on Spotify. I didn’t expect anything high but barely scraping Top 200? Oof.

I don’t think people can or should underestimate how much WW hurt her this era. It’s sad to see tbh.

I don't even think it's from WW. Her label is barely promoting anything from her. Just a post/tweet here and there. Didn't give WW any placement but a radio deal.( regardless of how ppl personally felt about the song). Yes she's not in her prime, but damn what's with the minimal promo?

Perfect storm. She was already struggling but then she dropped a middling song, a terrible video, a controversial producer choice and addressed none of it whatsoever probably to not anger said producer because her team was dumb enough to get him on the whole album.

This project got a lot of hype, it was going fairly well until that terrible WW's snippet came out. Then it was leaked that Luke was heavily involved and by the time the song bombed there were enough signs there for the label to not waste any more resources on the album.

Honestly WW was a terrible choice but it was even dumber to go so hard for it on radio. If it had straight up bombed they could have at least used the radio deal budget for this which is way less polarizing. It's alright radio fodder that could have even gotten people to stream it and build a bit of hype on streaming apps. Or you know, any of the other songs bc some Katycats keep saying the 21 Savage song is a surefire hit. Granted neither Katy nor her most engaged fanbase seem to know what a current hit is, but I'm 100% sure there's gotta be better choices than the song that goes "sexy confident so intelligent" in robotic voice and completely kills the vibe instantly.

It might be the whole discourse and "anti hype" around her atm, but I find her voice so irritating on a song like this. It suits better for vibe-y mid tempo tracks and not these screechy songs. Just my opinion of course.

The song is fine I guess, seems like it'll burn fast though. Shocked that they're not trying this at radio to at least have something in place of "Woman's World." Are they not going to go into the album release with something on the radio?

I feel like her team might just wait until the VMAs or launch of the album to send a radio single, they might have been seeing fans wanting the 21 Savage collab as a single so they might be saving the radio push for that? That's just pure speculation on my end but this doesn't sound like a song that would really work Stateside (I feel like I've said this before in this thread so sorry for bringing it up again).

Lifetimes is doing 700K daily streams on Spotify which is not disastrous, the song did get some spins on its debut day. As far as the VMA's? The VMA's are not a big deal like it was 25 years ago. We might have to face the reality that Katy's days of having big pop hits could be over. I can still see her have some Hot AC success though. Anyway, I am still rooting for her.
