Yup. Had a good run but he should have taken a break when he got overexposed and then he just kept going. It's like: Leave me alone. Bully teas. Then he got sideswiped and the rest is history. His songs were getting streams daily appearing all over spotify and apple music and then this summer was the first time he stopped charting in the top 200 daily. I guess it's a new era. I'm sure the songs will chart in the 40s-60s next week.

He has not released anything other than throwaways or quick collabs. Random reject songs he dumped on spotify are not an indication of anything. Drake is still outstreaming overall The Weeknd, Kanye, Eminem, Kendrick, Ariana, Zach Bryan, etc. For 8/10 alone on Spotify, Drakes top 10 streamed songs still cleared about 6 million streams. Far from done. LOL

also not an indication, because he has like 500 songs lol, double, and even more than almost every artist you mentioned, besides Kanye and Eminem, and those two are 20+ years into their careers.

exactly, which is why we should be waiting until a full new album era to see what happens. if others are spouting out foolishness pulling facts to spin however they want, I'll do the same. But while it is true he has more songs, if he really was done, people wouldn't be going back to old songs as well. it just is silly to judge yet until there is some real concrete proof and there truly isn't any way to determine his career trajectory at this time positive or negative

OK the Drake number is bad for him no? There's been little push to promote it so far, but he doesn't usually need one either.
I agree that an album is gonna be the real test - but he has also launched eras before by taking a throwaway and making it the lead. "God's Plan" for example. Unless these songs are growers I don't think they're gonna get added to any album.

I don't think it is that bad for a 24 hour release so far on a SAturday. Over 2 million streams for track 1 in the US. Definitely shows people are still checking in. Destroyed Katy and Shawn combined (probably not really an accomplishment lol) but still. For no promo , pretty good

Austin - 113K - July 2023 Twelve Carat Toothache - 121K - June 2022 Hollywood's Bleeding - 489K - September 2019 Beerbongs & Bentleys - 461K - April 2018 Stoney - 58K - December 2016
I am hoping for 200k, he has some massive hits right now and country fans seem to really embrace him - not to mention a ton of superstars from past and present are stacked on the album.

It is even charting on CHR now so let's see if it can make it in I was hoping it would chart on CHR a few weeks back, and figured once it didn't that it would never. Glad to see it actually did make it on! Is there an actual push for it on pop, or is it just riding off Last Night / I Had Some Help's coattails??

I think people might finally be ready to move on from Drake. It's been a long a very boring run at the top. Maybe it took Kendrick making Drake seem icky and uncool for it to happen.

Is Aubrey Graham actually over? Are we finally in a post-Drake era? If so, I really wonder what hip-hop will be like in a post-Drake era.

the one thing that makes me really excited for Drake being done potentially is that there will follow a period of vying for the top spot by other artists, while obviously the biggest rapper comercially after Drake would be Kendrick, he as a whole isn't commercial enough to really pick up that mantle. The frontrunners are probably Carti, but he's too... cult-like, and Travis, and if I had to guess for the rest of the decade he would probably be the top rapper

Carti is the obvious front-runner for the title, but it seems like he doesn't want it. He could've had the biggest rap run this year if he continued jumping on tracks and finally dropped his album around Q2 2024. But he’s too focused on maintaining his mysterious “persona” and not caring about his fans.
Since 2022, the direction of hip hop has clearly been influenced by Carti's sound, so it makes sense that he should be leading this new era.

Nearly 1 million streams for a random time on a Saturday drop for a random old song he just threw up is not showing anyone is "over" lol if anything it is showing his power is still there

Drake is far from over, I just think he isn't in the everything will be an instant hit stage anymore, which is great, and I hope he'll improve with his music, since the 2020s material is subpar and totally uninspiring, to say the least.

While I can't say that I agree with the idea that Drake is "over" or "done," I can't say I have an issue with the people who choose to run with that narrative (if only because they've been pushing that narrative even when Drake was putting up bigger streaming/total consumption numbers than literally every other artist on the planet, so why wouldn't they push that narrative now?).
All I ask is that for consistency purposes, those people also adjust their commercial expectations for Drake's music moving forward. If he's no longer to be regarded as a giant in the industry and the biggest figure in rap, then surely, expectations that anything he drops should automatically do damage on the charts, should also seize. I don't know who has been selected to act as his replacement , but whoever that person is, should be the one with all the lofty commercial expectations placed on them moving forward. If we can all agree on this then I have no arguments.

We need to wait until a full album era with singles, videos, and promotion to determine what is happening with Drake's career. As of now, there is no proof on either side to determine anything. That is what I accept as well. People keep saying he is "over" so yeah, I am going to spout of facts then. He literally did 2 million streams for a nothing song over the weekend. That is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed at though.
