Normally it takes a while for a song to grow on me but i loved DWAS instantly from the first time i heard. It sounded like a classic, that's why it's doing great in my opinion. Yeah, I mentioned it already, but exact same for me. I already remembered how the entire song went after the first listen, including large chunks of lyrics. Thats exceptionally rare for me.

Debuts at #3 on US Billboard Hot 100. Her 18th top ten hit, his 19th.
"Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” surges onto the Hot 100 at No. 3 with 27.4 million streams, 13 million in radio reach and 21,000 sold (digital and physical singles combined). The duet, released Aug. 16, also starts at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales (becoming the former’s 10th No. 1 and the latter’s ninth)." (Billboard)

I think this will go #1 Hot 100 in late September and have amazing longevity throughout fall/winter.

It will go top 5 on Pop then collapse from bad callout scores and not peak any higher on the Hot 100. Quote me

When a song rises organically throughout it's debut week it's kinda wild to expect callouts to tank.

I mean, we can all argue about how we think it will do. Now all we can do is wait and see whose guess is closest to what actually happens. Not sure why anyone needs to keep harping the same guess on repeat.

What's with people coming into this thread and spouting complete nonsense. Now "LTDO" was only a thing during it's debut week, lol. That's just factually incorrect.

LTDO being forgotten after a single week March 2021 is up there with "this is performing like Woman's World and Coldplay's single" in bad takes on this thread.

The reality is that this song is poised to be a smash. The sooner these gerls accept it, the sooner their lives can go on.

The general public won't care about this longterm, there's nothing current about it. The same way Leave The Door Open was a nothing burger outside of radio and debut week I mean... Leave The Door Open spent two weeks at #1 weeks after it was released. 1.36 billion streams on Spotify isn't too bad either.

For the record, I think this will go far … but, even if this isn’t a massive long term hit, so what? It’s still doing outstanding in its first week and been a nice addition to both of their catalogues. It’s already served its purpose. I think both of them can call this a “win”.

This song screams worldwide smash hit. The fact that there's still so much more room to grow is scary.

Didn’t “Leave the Dooor Open” also win ROTY and SOTY at the Grammys? lol

Didn’t “Leave the Dooor Open” also win ROTY and SOTY at the Grammys? lol Impressive that it both got nominated AND won those awards all within its first week of release since that was the only week it was relevant! I wonder if they used payola to get around the Recording Academy’s deadlines?

I guess if you prefer Bruno Mars retreading the exact same slow boring ballad 5 years straight then go for it. I'd rather hear something that doesn't sound like 1974

Skate was pretty upbeat (although not as good as the other two pop singles from that album) and Smokin Out The Window was a funk/soul driven track.

Bruno Mars hasn't exactly been an innovator since "Uptown Funk". The entire album after that was very been there done that and then Silk Sonic always, by design, sounded like it was following previous hits and sounds of that genre. No one should be expecting him or even Gaga (this sounds like it could have been on ASIB or even Joanne) to innovate every single time.

His entire musical identity is just throwback ever since Uptown Funk and the 24k Magic album.

At least someone recognizes he's been doing the same exact thing for like a decade. Edit: I had not even seen this comment when I made my first reply and it says almost the same thing lmao
