Which single of his from the last five years other than Leave The Door Open sounds like this? Skate was pretty upbeat (although not as good as the other two pop singles from that album) and Smokin Out The Window was a funk/soul driven track. His entire musical identity is just throwback ever since Uptown Funk and the 24k Magic album. And it works and sounds great. Can't say the same for other male artists...

I guess if you prefer Bruno Mars retreading the exact same slow boring ballad 5 years straight then go for it. I'd rather hear something that doesn't sound like 1974 So why do you keep complaining about him instead of doing just that?

If someone dislikes a song or an artist so much, I don’t get why they keep posting in their thread.

Well if you're trying to understand why someone likes this, I guess I can try to give my take.
I am only an occasional Bruno Mars fan. (And I've seen UF mentioned, I absolutely hate that song, lol.) I could care less about Silk Sonic. But I do really several of his other songs, 'Grenade', JTWYA, 'It Will Rain', all great for me. Any male artist could have sung this song, but I think Bruno's voice works really well here. He has great range and control and isn't over sung. And having Gaga added in to it creating a real duet - a duet from A-listers with good legacy behind them - is a rarity these days. Especially a song that is inoffensive and has a well intended message. The production is definitely nothing groundbreaking. This song could have been released in 2010 so I feel it definitely has some nostalgia feel going for it, nevermind the 1970's inspired video. But it's simplicity but strong melody make this very accessible to a wide range of listeners. Despite the apparently strong streams, I don't feel this song is necessarily aimed specifically aimed at just Gen-Z. And it's good to have a break from the constant overexposure to depression triggers, drugs, drama, sex, etc. we normally get in most songs in recent years.
I admittedly also prefer really radio friendly often termed "generic" pop fodder anyway. My 2010 self squealed for joy when I heard this for the first time. That's my thing. So that's one persons take.

But my point is if you feel that way why did you expect a throwaway collab to be his sudden creative rebirth?

39 adds on Pop today. Bringing its total to 146 adds when combined with week 1's 107 adds. {Spoiler} It also got 2 adds on R&B. 0 on Rhythmic

Everyone should listen to the latest Switched on Pop episode. Explains the song's charm pretty well.

It's okay to have a style and stick with it if it works. Making it work for decades and still producing great and infectious work is pretty innovating IMO.

Since this song looks to be sticking around, are we gonna have to wait until 2025 for LG7? I really hope not because I want a new Gaga album by the end of the year. 😩

I’m trying to think of other instances when an artist had a movie and album out at the same time that weren’t connected. Will Smith? J Lo perhaps?

im predicting LG7 in Feburary with 3-ish singles beforehand.

I am not following... why would a movie prevent her from releasing new music? These are two completely different things and art forms. You don't go to cinema to listen to her album lol
I am not saying the album should come before Joker: Folie a Deux but it can very well be released in October/November once the press tour for Joker is done.

I don't think she'll release anything from LG7 this year. Now we have DWAS, Joker is in October, and I bet she'll have some Oscar-worthy song to promote until March. Also, she should avoid November and December because of Christmas, I think the best time for her lead would be in March, right after the Oscars.

Promotion lol. If there’s heavy promotion planned or hoped for either, they might not want to split it with the other. Which was why I asked about if others had done both at the same time and how that was handled. But if Joker has a soundtrack with tracks Gaga is on, it might be best to not mix or confuse the two, which would happen with promoting them both.

I think the soundtrack will have something sung by her but nothing that would bother the charts. From Wikipedia:
I don't think there's anything worth promoting.

You can tell she cares about both careers, so it's better for her (and the fans) to separate them.

You don't go to cinema to listen to her album lol Ariana Grande seems to think this is the case. Until the Writers and Actors Guild strikes happened last year, her sole focus was on Wicked. We probably would not have had new music from her until after Wicked Part 2 in 2025 if she had her way. Even now, she's stopped all non- Wicked promo and the eternal sunshine era is more or less finished.

It's a big film, she's gonna be promoting it internationally up until release. If the film/her performance/original song are well-received, she'll no doubt be working the circuit throughout fall/winter.
If the movie ends up trash, it'll probably free up a lot of her time, lol. But it's the holidays, terrible time to launch new music anyway.

Big agree that launching LG7 at the same time as joker would be a terrible, terrible idea. Especially with Joker being a musical. No way would it be smart to split that kind of promo. And she would be stretched too thin and LG7 would prob suffer pretty badly in terms of videos and performances and whatnot.
Tragic as it is, she’s doing the right thing waiting until next year even if the album is nearly ready (and it kinda sounds like it is). It’s even smarter if the “Oscar worthy” buzz about her in Joker is true and she actually wins. Her momentum off an Oscar win right into LG7 could do massive things for the era.

Courtesy of nympho at UKMix:
“So last night in Bruno’s Vegas residency show they performed the song TWICE as encore. And it was professionally filmed. With different camera angles. No phones are allowed at the show so no video leaked, just some photos. I doubt it’s for YouTube, so rumour is it was filmed for the VMAs. They recreated the music video, playing instruments and then Gaga doing her dance.”

I just don't know why she announced LG7 for this year when it was very obvious if it wasn't dropped during the summer it was gonna be most likely moved to next year. I think she could probably start promoting it well around Oscar time, take that extra exposure and casually start mentioning your album and stuff... but first they need to gauge the reception to her performance to see if she's actually gonna be in some sort of awards seasons tour or not.
This song is probably already being added to the tracklist as we speak; even if it dies tomorrow it's already a big win with great peaks.

I am fine if LG7 waits until early 2025. This year has been STACKED with more pop album releases than I can recall — releasing something next year she will be up against a lot less pop competition on the charts and end of year lists.
Add in the good graces of this song, the Joker, performances at award shows that are likely to happen… she could stack all this for a nice launch into a single in Feb or March.

Speaking on Gaga, she got her name back out there with this single, so this should hold over during the film's run. Imo, I feel the LG7 era will officially go after the Oscars.

We are not even in Q4 yet and some of you are postponing her album to 2025 because of a movie. Personally, I don't see a problem with the these two things happening at the same time and a month or two is a long time in pop culture anyway, just ask Sabrina, Charli or Chappell. Like we didn't even know about DWAS three weeks ago, who knows maybe there will be an album in three weeks from now.
