Obviously that user is a known troll and her music career isn't in the toilet, as she still commands a high degree of relevance and industry respect. But her career as a pop star has been on life support for a decade now (as it's clearly not her focus anymore). Chromatica performed pretty poorly coming off of the giant hype she had from A Star Is Born. This collab is a good choice for her, the public wants this version of Gaga not electro-pop Gaga. Chromatica had plenty of potential to return her to big pop star hitmaker status, but was ruined by a few things. Mostly the start of the pandemic since it halted a lot of her promo plans and more importantly, the album was intended to be for nights out and the clubs. And unlike an album like Future Nostalgia at that time, it actually didn’t have a fun theme lyrically to lend well to escapism during COVID. So the pandemic was all around bad for it. Single strategy was also terrible. You lead with Rain On Me, it should have been so so obvious to them. SL was very dated and I think burned through a lot of goodwill that was there for her going into the era, and then it was back to an uphill battle with RoM (hence the oddly poor radio performance). Then Free Woman, Enigma, and Replay were very obviously the other choices for hit potential, all of which they ignored as singles (lol if her/her team actually thought 911 was a hit). So yeah, just some bad factors + bad choices there.

Post's album doing really great so far, looking forward to the spotify numbers tomorrow!
All tracks of the original album are now top 100 on Apple Music:
1. Post Malone - "I Had Some Help (feat. Morgan Wallen)" 8. Post Malone - "Pour Me A Drink (feat. Blake Shelton)" 9. Post Malone - "Wrong Ones (feat. Tim McGraw)" 10. Post Malone - "Guy For That (feat. Luke Combs)" 19. Post Malone - "Finer Things (feat. Hank Williams, Jr.)" 22. Post Malone - "What Don't Belong To Me" 25. Post Malone - "Losers (feat. Jelly Roll)" 26. Post Malone - "Have The Heart (feat. Dolly Parton)" 28. Post Malone - "California Sober (feat. Chris Stapleton)" 30. Post Malone - "Goes Without Saying (feat. Brad Paisley)" 31. Post Malone - "Nosedive (feat. Lainey Wilson)" 35. Post Malone - "Yours" 47. Post Malone - "Devil I've Been (feat. ERNEST)" 49. Post Malone - "Missin’ You Like This (feat. Luke Combs)" 51. Post Malone - "Hide My Gun (feat. HARDY)" 59. Post Malone - "Never Love You Again (feat. Sierra Ferrell)" 77. Post Malone - "Right About You" 86. Post Malone - "M-E-X-I-C-O (feat. Billy Strings)"
The Long Bed version of the album has 9 additional solo tracks (they're quite good! Really like "Fallin' In Love" & "Hey Mercedes" in particular). I assume we'll see them in the top 200 come tomorrow. Really hoping the Dolly collab does a decent amount of streams to chart on the Hot 100!

How did Katy Perry’s “Woman’s World” end up doing? Wonder if she can get a top 10 single at this stage of her career.

I would love for Dolly to make it to the top 40 - she almost made it earlier this year when her collab with Beyonce, "Tyrant," made #44. She's quietly had a pretty epic chart year - showing up on a top 15 AC duet with Natalie Grant on a cover of Annie Lennox's "Step by Step" (made famous by Whitney Houston), and "Tyrant" also going top 20 on Hip-Hop/R&B. I think she also showed up on another chart - Dance or Rock, maybe - but I can't find which one. And of course Beyonce also took her reimagination of "Jolene" to the top 10, the first time it got that hight on the Hot 100 (or even made the Top 40!) in any version. So it would be awesome to see her top off this active year with her first credited top 40 appearance since "When I Get Where I'm Going" with Brad Paisley in 2005 (I'm not counting "Forever Country" since she wasn't credited there). But I was also rooting for "Rockstar" to hit number one on the album chart so....let's see.

Laugh all you want but you can't deny that it has the potential and will be a contender for no. 1 soon. But yeah, maybe not for 10+ weeks but i wouldn't rule it out. Lets wait and see. I would be happy if Die With A Smile lasted for just 2-3 weeks at #1.

That's huge for Gaga on AM - and the song is not even attached to an album.

WW numbers are...low, but expected since it's a country album. The US numbers are really solid. Looks like Post Malone's - I Had Some Help (feat. Morgan Wallen) is going to be #1 a long time. We shall see. why? It might be close this week because of Post's new album, but it's currently like 50 points behind A Bar Song (Tipsy), even if it reaches #1 again this week (which will be hard), it'll fall again. It's safe to say Gaga/Bruno won't debut at #1, maybe not even top 10? It really need great legs on Spotify/AM and decent airplay.

I hope IHSH will push to no.1 this week. Spotify and AM no.1 plus no.2 in Airplay.

Gaga/Bruno debut at #13 on Spotify US with 1,333,632 streams. Seems unlikely that it would debut in the top 10 based on that start.

I can't see how Gaga/Bruno will lead charts for 10+ weeks with this song in 2024 when Espresso/M$B missed top spot with 350-450 pts peaks and great longetivity at high level.

The excuses y'all use about promotion, as if it is 2011 with people still watching late night shows, are beyond fatuous.

It's a valid excuse but not because of the pandemic itself. Gaga retreated into her mansion and let the project dry out for months before doing a single VMA performance. Meanwhile Dua, Abel, Miley and Doja promoted in creative and unique ways throughout the entire lockdown phase.
Gaga just didn't care or did not have a team smart enough to pivot from the usual promo schedule.

heartless and blinding lights were both released in 2019. for americans, the pandemic was a thing starting March 2020.
save your tears wouldn't have gone #1 without the added Ariana remix.

Blinding Lights hit #1 in March 2020. also, don't think the point is in #1s, it's about promo, and Abel promoted the hell out of After Hours in 2020-21. Remix is also part of the promo, they also gave us that iconic iHeart Radio performance. Great music videos, cool performances, SB, outfits, everything about that era was perfect, except the fact that In Your Eyes wasn't a top 5 hit lol.

It’s really more about the genre of music coupled with the lyrics being as wrong for the start of the pandemic as it possibly gets (club music, but lyrically heavy). It’s one thing to dance the pain away on a night out to Rain On Me like originally intended, but that wasn’t happening in the pandemic. Too real and not even possible anyways. And then, as I also mentioned, single strategy was just bad, pandemic or not.

Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga have to release different versions of Die With A Smile. There should be an instrumental version.
