I’m shocked Die With A Smile isn’t debuting at #1. Is it cuz it was released on an odd day? Not a full week of points?
If it’s not one of the biggest songs of all time I’ll also be shocked. It’s as close to a perfect song as you can get. Their voices together, lyrics, the production, all insane ear candy.

It had no radio deal and isn't being pushed with a thousand unnecessary versions to boost sales and streams. Despite that, it's going from being projected to debut Top 15 to Top 10 due to unusual gains in streams over the weekend, even on a Sunday on both Spotify and Apple Music. Whatever it debuts at will probably not be its peak.

Honestly if the GagaBruno song behaved like most big name collabs the alright debut would have turned into disaster by now. The fact that it has held on and even increased on some markets is great for it.
It was never a #1 debut in the making. The only time Gaga did that recently was with Ariana Grande at near peak levels. Bruno has been away for a while as well and he's usually the type of act to grow into #1 not putright debut there.

Well, even Bad Romance didn't go #1 for Gaga, and Shallow needed an Oscar performance to get a week, so there are several factors to be considered but Die with a Smile is definitely going to have legs.

It actually sounds a tad like Lost Stars by Adam Levine. Anyone else hear that?

Yeah, who would expect a #1 debut from either of them? Even at their peak, that’s never been their thing. Rain On Me was the exception, since as you mentioned, it had Ariana at peak levels and she is also the Queen of #1 debuts since TUN. This song also had zero promo or heads up it was coming, it just dropped out of nowhere. They’re refusing to hitch it to any project either so far. It’s doing phenomenal so far on streaming, all the early signs are there for her biggest hit this side of Shallow.

The lack of promotion for DWAS beforehand is definitely a factor. There's demand for both gaga and bruno - the increase in streams & chart position shows that - but people have to be aware the song even exists before they can, yknow, stream or buy it.

Remember leave the door open debuted at #4 behind the drake songs but had great legs and hit #1 many weeks later (the 2nd time)

DWAS is up to top 5 on Apple Music, which seems pretty great to me. Honestly I'm surprised how well it's doing on AM, it struck me as a pretty Spotify skewing song.

Birds of a Feather is currently projected to be at #5? right? and it's still outperforming DWAS in every metric, besides sales. For a possible top 5, they will need much bigger streaming numbers in the next few days. It kinda reminds me of WCBF, when it was predicted to debut at #15 or something, and it debuted at #1 at the end.
speaking of WCBF:
such a smash hit, shame it wasn't bigger on the BH100.

^ I am so surprised about the "WCBF" fact for how fast it seemingly came and went. It literally felt relevant for like two weeks. Congratulations to Ariana though, that's great!

Actually, DWAS is ahead on YouTube even though it won't account for much of its weekly points.

This song sounds so much better than everything in the top 10 currently. And it’s Lady Gaga AND Bruno Mars. Yes I’m shocked it’s not debuting at #1 but again I’m old and the charts are fickle just like they were when I was young.

Die with a Smile is up to #3 on US Apple Music and is almost certainly going to experience considerable gains on Spotify in tomorrow's update.
I have to say, it's been nice seeing a really good single organically rise in streams throughout a tracking week. We've all gotten so used to singles by big-name acts scoring massive streaming debuts right out the gate that it seems weird when they don't, all the while forgetting that the biggest hits usually take some time to grow along with audiences discovering them. I see the song being a massive hit when it's all said and done.

^Agreed. I can definitely see it getting a noticeable boost whenever it gets performed. I wonder whether it will end up in a Lady Gaga or Bruno Mars album.

^ With Lady Gaga getting primary lead artist billing, the song being released on her label and the music video being released on her YouTube page, my guess is that it's a Lady Gaga song and it'll end up on her next album.

Bruno brought the song to her, and she said that it’s to tide us over until LG7. To me that implies it’s not part of the project, but since it’s looking to be a hit I can see it being added to the track list.

They really kinda blew the era not leading with it. It might’ve been her biggest hit ever with lead single momentum on its side and set up the era to be another TUN. The title track as the follow up single with a continuation of the movie theme for the video (and cameos from the big actors in that) could’ve been a massive second single imo. Then end her typical 3 single era fittingly with bye, the other most hit friendly song on the album.

I don’t think there’s any way DWAS ends up on LG7 since that album sounds completely different from it from what she’s teased. Would probably stick out like a sore thumb. If anything, it will be tacked onto Joker if it wasn’t already planned bc it fits perfectly for that.
Anyways, insane it’s jumped from top 15 to maybe top 3 projection for its debut. This is so a future multi-week #1 on the chart. It feels so much like a Fall juggernaut too.
