A 12 year old child should not be watching a man and woman making out or 2 members of the same sex making out, it's inappropriate for a young child to see that. There's a big difference between a peck on the cheek, a quick kiss or a make out kiss.Just giving my opinion. Yet it took a video with two women kissing before you decided to make that statement. Interesting. Just discuss Sabrina Carpenter Taste song. |

With the pop rock vibe of the song, I’m hoping hot AC actually decides to embrace this song out of the gate. Hot AC took their sweet time with Feather, Espresso and PPP until they became top 5 CHR hits, even though none of those songs are particularly rhythmic (or explicit like Nonsense was). I honestly think she’s too vulgar/explicit to be a hac darling. The target audience there is like 35-45. Same thing held the likes of Gaga and Rihanna back from smashing the format for years until they started putting hac baiting stuff like Stay and The Edge of Glory out. Though oddly enough, one of the format’s biggest darlings ever - Pink - always got away with the vulgar stuff there. |

Guaranteed you’ve never said that about a man and woman kissing in a music video. The answer, then, is parents who agree with you need to monitor what their children are watching. I'm not sure if you're advocating for censoring the artist, or what, but I don't think anyone here (on this thread, or in general in 2024) agrees with you. The video is darkly comedic, as is the kiss/twist at the end. I think even a tween could recognize that. |

it's never the artist's job to make their art "child friendly". if it's a problem for the parents then they should be monitoring what their children watch more

I think it's early to compare those two eras, but SOUR is objectively and chart-wise still bigger. SnS is only beating SOUR in pure album sales, but Olivia didn't have competition that week like Sabrina, and without vinyls and deluxe versions. SOUR had 67M streams more in its debut week with one less track, and it moved 186k units in the 2nd week - I'm interested to see SnS 2nd week numbers, I think it's 150k+ for sure? also, I know we are strictly talking about breakout years, but it's worth mentioning that SOUR is eligible for 6x platinum in the US and it's the most streamed female album of all-time, with 13B+ streams. On the Hot 100, Sabrina's biggest hit Espresso still can't touch drivers license and good 4 u, I think it'll surpass deja vu this week on the decade-end chart. During its debut week, nine SOUR songs were in the top 20 (only jealousy jealousy #24 and hope ur ok #29) vs SnS five, and the lowest one Lie To Girls sits at #41. Even in the 2nd week, SOUR had 7 songs in the top 20. These are all numbers, but if we talk about social media, acclaim, which one has more likes, fans, better music videos - basically subjective things, it'd turn into an endless discussion where everyone would be right and nobody wrong. Like I said before, I don't like comparing Olivia and Sabrina, really like them both, and both SOUR and SnS are great and very successful albums. EDIT: back on topic, it really sucks Taste missed the top spot, hopefully it'll get there soon, since it's easily the best SnS single so far. |

Driver’s License and SOUR had a lot more cultural impact. Good 4 U would have been a multi-week #1 if not for the BTS fans buying up the inventory and Billboard ignoring the blatant fraud. Don’t get me wrong. I like Sabrina and S&S. But it’s really not comparable even now. Sabrina is “just” a pop star in the end. But Olivia (and Chappell) had/has impact beyond pop. In the middle of COVID, SOUR was a shared experience for GenZ and Millenials and more. In the same way, Chappell has been bringing together LGBTQ GenZ-ers like no other album in a long time. |

I'd argue the opposite. I would hear Olivia's songs on the radio in 2021, but I knew absolutely nothing about her.
But I feel like Sabrina is everywhere in 2024. The Eras Tour. Her over-the-top videos. Covering Chappell. Every pop culture influencer I know is talking about the triangle with Shawn and Camila.
I was over a co-worker's apartment this weekend for a mini-BBQ. Someone was saying Chappell, Billie, and Sabrina are the Powerpuff Girls of 2024.

I’m not ready to say Taste is better than Espresso. The longevity of Taste has yet to be tested. Espresso, although unimaginably robbed on the Hot 100, peak-wise, is still hanging around, “challenging for no. 2 for next week’s Hot 100… that says a lot. Will everyone at the office be humming Taste like they were Espresso since it’s been out? Hmmm .. only time will tell.

Sabrina's the It Girl of 2024, SCU's are warranted lol. The way I see it, 'Nonsense' crawled so that 'Feather' could walk, and in turn so 'Espresso' could run (which further made it so that 'Please Please Please' and now 'Taste' could fly).

Unpopular opinion probably (or maybe not since she’s not very popular lol), but Tate’s music so far just hasn’t really been it as far as being a mega pop star goes. They’re fine little bops, but rather forgettable overall. Greedy definitely feels much more reminiscent to Feather (which wasn’t some mainstream breakthrough smash) then it does any of these SNS singles (which very much are mainstream breakthrough sounding smashes). |
