We will see if this can do anything, and I love her, so I HOPE but besides the Blake songgs, she has bombed at radio with several attempts to launch a new era.... Let Me Reintroduce Myself, Slow Clap, True Baby, etc. all in 2021-2023.

"Slow Clap" was a low key bop, imo, but I also need something really explosive and upbeat from her. Something left of center, something very in the vein of LAMB, and to ditch that schmaltzy sound she has when she works with Blake "HYUCK HYUCK HYUCK!" Shelton.

It sounds upbeat and 80s from that muffled snippet. The 80s throwback sounds should be right up her alley, but she hasn't capitalized on it yet with anything she's cooked up.
Also I would die a little death if it's actually a No Doubt reunion single

Wish something she did would stick. Her solo stuff was so unique and well done, then it seemed like the sounds she started doing got really tame. While I have continued to like it, I can’t think of any artist that had such a noticeable movement into toned-back like she did.

That aside, the lyrics sound like a verse or pre-chorus, so I hope the chorus is strong and the chorus is memorable.

Speaking of songs that were robbed - Totally agree!!! Same with MMLY and Misery. Her latest solo singles have not been bad, but needed some extra oomph. Production sounded good and verses were strong but choruses felt underwhelming. I also agree that she’s remained in Hot AC land and she could still produce more interesting stuff. Hope she can have a comeback… |
