the vinyls already shipped last week and it was barely 4k or whatever. you think they stockpiled like 20k waiting for an opportunity, when they went crazy with all those versions last week? the song also sold only 3K CDs first week, no one cares about buying a physical single for the song.

Well fuck, Teddy is performing "Lose Control" on the CMA Awards. We are never getting rid of this song.

Among the solo performances slated, Shaboozey will do a medley of his still-Hot-100-topping “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and the new single “Highway.”

^She definitely got the "Taylor Swift" boost from performing in some "Eras" shows. I read that they did a song called "US" together with Taylor. Close to You had been teased more than seven years ago somewhere. I Love You, I'm Sorry is now blowing up on streaming. She just finished her own tour. And having Aaron Dressner and Jack Antonoff as producers, defintely has given her a song that appeals to good amount of female public.

Ugh, not DWAS turning into Bad Romance 2.0 where it’s gonna come close to but not #1 for several weeks… I still have hope it at least happens after the holiday if it doesn’t before. Vinyl and CD shipping date for DWAS is now November 12th. The team is probably waiting for the gap to be close enough and seize the #1. Well, this is the week that they have to make it happen. I expect to see Die With A Smile #1 on the November 23rd chart. It is deserving of one week. A Bar Song will be performed during the CMA and cause it to return to #1 before Mariah Carey takes over.

I think A Bar Song is close to a perfect song so if any song has to spend that many weeks at #1 I’m glad it’s a good song.

A Bar Song is the song that no one is gonna remember in 3 years. Not Like Us is absolutely the 2024 song of the year and that’s coming from a Drake fan.

I feel like it'll be extremely popular as a country song, it seems like the sort of thing that gets solid recurrent streams for years (à la Wagon Wheel or Chicken Fried). It's gonna go CRAZY on fourth of July playlists. NLU will definitely be the most remembered song of the year, though, I agree.

Gracie Abrams is the Selena Gomez of the pop girls rn. She can be on her version of Only Murders in the Building and actually murder her music career because of boredom.

I mean… it may very well end up the longest running #1 in hot 100 history, so that seems extreme. The only one in the 15+ club that doesn’t seem particularly well remembered now I feel like is One Sweet Day. And that’s really just bc it’s the only one not from the past decade, and Mariah has tons of songs that overshadow it today.

Lol, here in UK I overheard some customers saying ABS will become the next “Sweet Caroline” and I have to laugh, the football going crowd absolutely hates any country leaning song and this wasn’t a runway hit here unlike the Hot 100

Both versions have 390k combined, not saying it's forgotten or anything, but those numbers are really low for such a huge hit.

A lot of the longest running #1s feel like 'novelty songs' in one way or another (from "Macarena" to "Old Town Road" to "Despacito"), and I think "A Bar Song" fits that in some ways. The path for songs to have longevity is all kind of different, so we'll see. I can see "A Bar Song" finding a certain niche.
"One Sweet Day" streams decent for a 1990s song in general, but it certainly doesn't match what one would expect for a 16 week #1. Having said that, how many people on a daily basis are wanting to listen to any song about a loved one dying? In that way, it's its own sort of novelty song.

Maybe in certain parts of the U.S., but both football and country music are huge in the south and southeast. Not sure who I am quoting as jenglisbe’s original quote doesn’t mention me, but the UK crowd prefers big sing along tracks - hence tracks like “Sweet Caroline”, “Wavin Flag” and also songs which can be made into chants like “Three Lions”, “Vindaloo” etc

Much of OTR's Hot 100 success in streaming came from YouTube memes counting toward its weekly points. The OTR original version was only #1 in US Spotify for 2 days, while the remix peaked at #5. I think it if you combine both of versions US OTR Spotify's RTD numbers, I think are probably around top 75 at best.
