I guess I'll go with... In the hit that preceded this one, she requested that certain business remain under wraps. Next set: 75. This act is, evidently, only worth about 3 cents in U.S. currency. 74. This artist made a scandalous debut in 1984. 73. A group that intentionally misspelled the first word in their name so that it would be pronounced correctly. 72. This artist, though not the one your thinking of, got into hot water for something that happened during a live televised performance. 71. What you'd be doing if you said those naughty four-letter words.

All correct responses.
If you're stuck on #85, join the club. I don't know enough about the artist to come up with too many more clues so I'll come out and say...
...it's Mrs. Terry Lewis.
That oughta point you in the right direction.
#72 is still on the table too.

Guess you didn't need my last clue, anyway.
Five more to add to #72:
70. The one that started that impressive streak of number 1 hits.
69. Another hit from the same album that brought us #98.
68. This song was from an album inspired by a movie in whch the artist starred. Her performance, you might say...was breathless.
67. A line of data used to designate one's identity
66. The first of two songs on the chart that mention Bob Dylan in the lyrics.

Bry managed to clear out the backlog. Moving forward:
65. A song from a movie that would probabably have been one of Alexandre Dumas' favorite films.
64. Ahhh!...Cover your ears and step away from the windows! This song is capped off by an ungodly high note.
63. In a year seemingly dominated by women, this was the only song with a male vocalist to top the R&R chart.
62. One of two, almost consecutive, number 1 hits from the Boomerang soundtrack.
61. A cover of a song from the 70s. All the members of this group then went on to chart with solo hits.

64) Someday/Mariah Carey
62 - I'm thinking of "End Of The Road" by Boyz II Men, but I have a feeling that would be higher up. I don't know any other songs from "Boomerang" so I'm going to guess "I'd Die Without You" since that was #1 soon after "End Of The Road" and I'm almost sure that "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" is NOT from that movie.
OK, Cerebro, let's have the next batch...

OK, Cerebro, let's have the next batch... Both correct. Yes, "I'd Die Without You" was the other song from the movie. Actually, there was a third top 40 hit from the same soundtrack -- "Give U My Heart" by Babyface featuring Toni Braxton. But that one barely cracked the top 20, much less number 1. The next batch, it is: 60. This song just wasn't powerful enough to top the pop chart for more than a month. 59. Always in a hurry, can't slow down. 58. Perhaps the oldest song on the chart. It was first recorded in 1961. 57. The third time's the charm for this group. This was their third hit and it spent three weeks at number 1 on the R&R chart. 56. This song's title is an oxymoron.

57) No Doubt - Don't Speak Nope, that one's a bit higher. Of the three unanswered questions (#60, #57, and #56), two artists have already appeared on the chart and one hasn't.

57) Hootie And The Blowfish - Only Wanna Be With You That'd be the one! For #60, let's do a slight rewording -- This song just wasn't strong enough to top the pop chart for more than a month. -- maybe that'll jog a few more brain cells. For #56, well...it's not exactly an oxymoron, but if your read the right meaning of it, it could be. Five more to bring things back to life: 55. The first hit from this boy band's sophomore release. 54. They started as a quartet, but this vocal group ended the decade as a trio. 53. The naughtiest song on the chart. 52. What you might be saying while recovering from a bout with amnesia. 51. Better than 4, but definitely not good enough to be 6.

60) Sheryl Crow - Strong Enough (I balked at this at first because it never reached #1 on the pop chart and I thought it did) 56) Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) 55) Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way 52) Madonna - I'll Remember
