Good guesses guys. #44 is the only one we're missing.
After that, there's:
40. This being will grant you three wishes..just rub his containment vessel.
39. Villians, no doubt, dislike him...always foiling their dastardly plans.
38. Probably the first true chart hog of the decade. With the rapid chart turnover rate of the late 80s, it had been a while since a song spent this long on top.
37. Action one does after a stage performance.
36. Untitled, L.P....Geez, can't these guys come up with better names for their albums?

Slightly off-topic, but I think I'll use this hot topic for a shameless plug of an upcoming similar game in the not-so-distant future: Look for the guessing game of my Top 100 songs of 2001 - for my Personal Top 30 charts. You Christian music lovers might want to join in, as there will be plenty of that type of song on it. In the Christian Music Forum, I'll post a link to the topic. BTW, this won't be for a few months yet. Just thought I'd mention it now while I was thinking about it.

Wow! Clean slate. You're all on a roll. Here's the final set of clues for the evening. I'll break into the top 30 first thing in the morning:
35. The only artist to top the pop chart without being signed to a record label.
34. Fush Yu Mang! This act couldn't hardly wait to top the chart.
33. The longest reigning number 1 hit...on any R&R chart.
32. A nice little song to put your baby to sleep.
31. This artist just recently went back to billing with their full name, after only going by the first for several years.

Before a clue is even posted, and before I screw it up, I say that #30 is "Mmmbop" by Hanson.

You could guess #31... it's by Janet Jackson, if I'm not mistaken.
My guess: All For You

All correct answers. But when did she ever dump her last name? Starting with the first Velvet Rope single ("Got 'Til It's Gone" ) and through the All For You years ("Son Of A Gun" ), she was billed on her singles as just "Janet". "Just A Little While" is the first single since '96 where she's billed, in full, as "Janet Jackson." Next Five: 30. You do this every time you go to school. 29. After this song, you might want to get back to reality. 28. Talk about multi-format success -- pop, A/C, R&B, dance -- oh yeah, the song's writer made it a country hit too. 27. Despite the fact that this is one of pop's biggest acts at the present time, this debut hit started off awfully slow on the chart. 26. Where your eye color is displayed.

Holy mackerel! This game is really whizzing by! At this rate, it will probably be over in a few hours.
Although, I thought Iris would have ranked higher than 25. That song was on the charts forever and the number one song of 1998.
I cringe to think of what song is going to be number one because I have a feeling that it is my least favorite song of the 1990s. Oh well, let's not get ahead of ourselves...

Holy mackerel! This game is really whizzing by! At this rate, it will probably be over in a few hours. I suppose it moves a bit faster when you start running out of songs. Although, I thought Iris would have ranked higher than 25. That song was on the charts forever and the number one song of 1998. I suppose it could've been a worthy contender for a higher position, but their were a number of factors involved in the tabulation of this chart. What were they? I'll divulge some of the nuts and bolts at the end of the game (if I did it now, it might be too helpful). We're into the final sixth of the chart: 25. You'll have to turn left here, or maybe right, it could be a dead end, or maybe there's one of those nifty cul-de-sacs... 24. Standard position assumed by one proposing marriage. 23. Just a song about living the crazy life... 22. ...and this artist might like to do just that. After all, she's not asking for very much. 21. Thank goodness we've got recurrent rules now. This song was in R&R's top 50 for an entire year.

Yep, seems like these are definitely getting easier for you people. ;)
The home stretch is, quickly, creeping up on us:
20. This foursome is often compared to another foursome. And both acts call the same country home.
19. You'd probably like to meet this person every time you go to sleep.
18. Diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires...
17. 604,800 seconds.
16. Hmm...maybe a type of dance one does in a bathroom?

20. Ace Of Base - Don't Turn Around Is good. Of course, the other foursome that this act has been compared to is ABBA (also from Sweden). We'll slow down just a little to unveil the top 15: 15. The Wright Brothers made great strides in proving that man could do this. 14. If it weren't for this song, another act could have done the unprecidented -- scored the top song of the year for two consecutive years. 13. These guys must be taking lyrical cues from The Police. Oh, wait...that one was " De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da"...D'oh!
