I do think that JoJo has some buzz to her name right now. Her single is huge, she can sing circles around most popstars today and her album, even though it did not open remarkably, is holding up surprisingly well, which I attribute to excellent word-of-mouth.
Her success shockingly mirrors the success of Christina Aguilera when she hit it big 5 years ago, but only on a smaller scale. And we all know what happened on the 42nd Grammy Awards, don't we?

Christina neither the critical or commercial frontrunner, but NARAS saw past all that and went with the real talent, and haven't stopped awarding her since!

We are not compairing the sales of "In The Zone" to "Baby One More Time", were compairing the sales of "In The Zone" to "Britney"
You know what, i am done arguing about her album sales. Her fans obviously don't want to face facts so we'll leave it at that. Some think it's a hit, others think it's a dissapointment, i have a right to think what i want and so do you.

You don't think he'll actually keep to that promise, do you?

You don't think he'll actually keep to that promise, do you? Is it just me or do you have an overly obsessive problem with me?

The R&R Pop/CHR chart is not the sole indicator of how hot someone is commercially or critically. I have to say I don't think Britney has a lot of buzz right now.

I think that one thing that might work in JoJo's favor is her age. There would be a lot of media attention paid to the Grammys nominating someone so young (does anyone know who the youngest nominee or winner was, and how old they were at the time?).

Leannne Rhymes was the youngest. I think she was 13. I'm not sure on the age but I know for sure she is the youngest Grammy winner. But Jo Jo is no Leanne Rhymes.

According to All Music Guide, LeAnn Rimes was born August 28, 1982 and won the 1996 Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, so she was 14.

Britney has scored six nominations in the past. The general feeling is that is overdue, not that she would ruin the repuation of NARAS. Rofl. You're kidding right? The general feeling is that her music has got worse as time has gone on, and that she has become more and more of a laughing stock. No one cares about her music anymore. The fact that a good few people on here still think otherwise is just hilarious.

JoJo doesn't come across as the warm 13-year-old type they would award.

I don't think Atlantic will be pushing this for consideration. What do u think they will be pushing? I mean she has gotten excellent reviews. I dont think i have read a bad one for her album. think she could do as well as Justin did with "justified." I used his album for example because both albums sound similar to me with the Timbaland production. But she actually recieved better reviews than he did.

Hopefully the Grammys do give Brandy a big boost as her "Afrodisiac" album is fantasic and her best yet.
She should release "Afrodisiac" and "Saddidy" as singles to try to salvage the album.

I get the feeling the industry doesn't respect her.

I get the feeling the industry doesn't respect her. just because she didnt win a VMA doesnt mean she doesnt deserve it. The general consensus was that she should have won over Beyonce. Even non Britney fans admitted toxic was a better vide than Naughty Girl. The VMAs and MTV choices have nothing to do with respect in the industry. i think MTV gets LESS respect than anyone else. Not to mention Madonna didnt win a Grammy OR a VMA until "Ray of light" and she was around for 20 years and was a video Icon. Same as britney. MTV kissed Madonnas Ass every chance they got, same as britney,. MAdonna performed on Numerous VMAs same as Britney. Madonna had NUMEROUS MTV specials with ever album and tour, SAME AS BRITNEY. So I think Britney is Alright until her time comes. I mena as much stuff as MTV does for her guess they cant give her everything no matter how DESERVING she is.

Actually, none of those artists deserve VMAs. If they were legitimate awards, they would go to the directors -- or at least be shared with the directors. Mrs. Ritchie won her first Grammy in 1992. Plus industry people respect her (even though she's always copying Cher). Just because Britney made a somewhat decent video is not enough to convince industry people that she's talented.

The big nominees will be Usher, Norah Jones, Kayne West and Alicia Keys.
My early nominees for: Female R&B Vocal Performance are: Monica-"U Should've Known Better" (She was robbed last year) Alicia Keys- "You Don't Know My Name" Patti LaBelle - "New Day" Anita Baker - "You're My Everything" Teena Marie "Still In Love"
Of course I want Monica to win, but Anita or Teena deserves it. The favorite is Alicia though.

The Female R&B Vocal Performance will probably feature some combination of these folks: Alicia Keys - You Don't Know My Name/If I Ain't Got You Jill Scott - Golden (She could go traditional too though) Mary J. Blige - It's A Wrap Monica - You Should've Known Better Janet Jackson - I Want You Tamia - Questions Brandy - Who Is She 2 U? Joss Stone (Any of her singles would work)

OK, for R&B Female I'm gonna predict nominations for Jill, Anita, Alicia, Teena, Brandy, Patti, & Monica. R&B Male- Usher, Mario Winans, Al Green, Kem...damn I'm runnin' out of options here, the males definitely didn't come thru this year (except for Usher ). Everywhere else, I'm rooting for Sarah MacLachlan, George Micheal, Kanye, Joss Stone, and maybe a few others.

For best new artist, I could actually see Franz Ferdinand getting a nod. Its almost platinum if its not already, they've charted on multiple charts. There's definitely people going to their shows, not to mention they have a reputaition for putting on a damn good show. That, and they've gotten a ton of prestegious awards already this year (just won the Murcury Music Prize from the Shortlist.)
This band is on a roll and I think they'll get atleast one or two nods.

Hopefully.

Anita Baker is a lock for traditional r&b vocal performance. Teena Maria is a joke to even be mentioned for the award, especially with Patti Labelle around. Jill Scot could find her way into the traditional vocal performance category as well.
