Your confident about Delta Goodrem cracking the US, huh? Has she signed a domestic deal yet? Yeah she has. Her album is due to be released in America in July *June for Canada* and she should be heading over to North America soon to start promoting as soon as she finishes filming her first movie here in Australia. TCorey, I think that Delta might also get nominated for: "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Record of the Year" for 'Born to Try'. According to an article that was in the Paper here a few weeks ago Sony USA are eager to get Delta to perform at the 2005 Grammys so that should help her exposure in America.

Your confident about Delta Goodrem cracking the US, huh? Has she signed a domestic deal yet? Even if Delta doesn't do so well initially in America she'll prolly still get some Grammy nominations. When Norah Jones came out no one barely even knew about her until her album was nominated for 8 Grammy awards and now look at her! Anyway, Delta has Sony USA behind her and she's been earmarked as a Top priority. I think Delta has a strong chance of winning 2 Grammy Awards next year for "Best New Artist" and "Best Pop Album".

I really hope Vanessa Carlton receives nominations when her album comes out! She better not be overlooked which I believe she will.

Do you all think that Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard could be up for some Grammy nominations this year? I think they could be up for a couple each and Clay could win one or so.

it's a good list...
unless "sorry 2004" was eligible last time, i'd add it to male R&B vocal

I think Delta's only competition in the "Best Pop Female Vocal performance" and "Best Pop Album" categories will be Norah Jones.
That Norah!

He was nominated last year for "Superstar" afterall. Plus, he just doesn't have the same cringe-worthy cheese factor playing against him. Delta may have a shot in more categories, but the two I listed I think are her strongest since we don't yet know how her stuff is going to perform here.

In a magazine I bought today it had an article on Delta and said that she will be going on a promotional tour of Europe in May and in June she will head to New York for a "showcase" before releasing her album *with some newly added tracks* in July.

If Delta's debut album can make a solid impact (along w/ herself) here in the U.S., then I can definetely see her being nominated, if not win a Grammy, perhaps for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Norah would be her only competition. As for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, ugh.

Do you really think Toxic will get a Grammy nod? I mean, it's an excellent song, but I don't know if it can get a nod by the "committee".

Do you really think Toxic will get a Grammy nod? Yes. Oops and Overprotected have been nominated, and Toxic is 100x better than both of those songs. It clearly stands out from all the pop songs that have been released in recent times.

It looks like Norah will have another big year at the grammy's if the nominations end up like this.

I'd say she's a lock in the Female Pop Vocal and Pop Album categories. She's been nominated in those categories for the last two albums. The Record of the Year nomination is more of a stretch, but it is the best pop song released this year so far. Critical response has been positive with most conceding that it's her best song in years.

I'd do the rock and country categories, but that Academy's nominations are always so off-the-wall in those categories that it's pointless even trying to predict.

Heres the article where I got the info about Delta's American Release Date: Guy Chambers, the mastermind behind all of Robbie Williams' solo albums, has been in Los Angeles writing new music for Delta Goodrem. Goodrem has recruited a group of top shelf writers in LA including Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, Aerosmith) and Billy Mann (Nick Lachey, Vitamin C). Goodrem's contract with manager Glenn Wheatley ran out last Thursday and she is rumoured to have signed with a high profile management company in the USA for the impending release of her Innocent Eyes album. Sony USA are pitching her for the "Celine Dion void" in the American market and plans to go with 'Born To Try' as the first single. The new tracks will be added to the American release of 'Innocent Eyes'. The album will be released in the USA in July. Source: www.undercover.com.au/news/2004/apr04/20040407_deltagoodrem.html

Lorreta Lynn has become the clear frontrunner for "Album of the Year".
Record of the Year is still up in the air, but as of know, "Toxic" and "My Immortal" are in the lead.
Best New Artist, Joss Stone by a mile, no one is even chasing her.

Delta Goodrem will win "Best New Artist". She hasn't even broken the US yet. I don't even think she will. Joss is unbeatable.

I think Tamyra Gray stands a good chance if her album does well.
