One thing that annoys me about Muse is their lack of US live TV promotion. In all my years as a fan, I don't think I've seen them once on Leno, Letterman, Conan, etc. They should try to arrange to do SNL while they tour with MCR.

I don't know if Keane is really a good comparison. They haven't had as much Alternative success as Muse, and they really haven't done that much at Pop or Hot AC if I'm not mistaken. (Did "Is It Any Wonder" do anything at either of those formats?) Sure, Keane has been huge at Triple A, but really, how much of an impact does that format have?

Well, I guess I meant in terms of overall sales & name recognition. I think their first album went gold. Perhaps I should have said Snow Patrol instead, although I'm not delusional enough to believe Muse could ever achieve a crossover hit as big as "Chasing Cars". (Unless, of course, Grey's Anatomy adopts them!) Muse's music is a bit too dour and uncompromising for the American Top 40 listener, I suppose.

If Death Cab can get on SNL, I don't see why Muse can't.

Bubbling Under AGAIN this week. So close to having their first Hot 100 hit! They just need a boost - whether it be an airplay/audience increase (hint: crossover) or more downloads. Again, a TV appearance would really help.
Their album has snuck back into the Top 200 - #167 this week with 236k total sales. Their last album sold about 400k or so.

This has an OK shot of making top 5 I think. It's still bulleted although it isn't very high. However, there are songs that are dropping quickly out of that top 10.

Listening to Supermassive Black Hole...I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't release that first here in the States. Should have been a top 5 easily. I like Knights of Cydonia...but meh.

I agree. It even could have been big on Pop, I believe. I guess if "Invincible" (bleh) is big, they could take a risk & release it 4th.

^that most of been one of those double-take moments ;) Big time... I wish I could remember what came on after "Starlight", but I think I was so stunned to hear it over the Muzak system that my brain locked up.

If I'm inside a Taco Bell long enough, I'm always impressed with at least a few of the songs they throw on. Hell, it was the first place I ever got to hear BT's "Somnambulist," a few years ago.

The White Stripes' "Blue Orchid" is the one that comes to mind. Of course, it was after 10:00 at night, so maybe that explains it. And I do also remember hearing some interesting selections at Taco Bell.

it's just about peaked...MCR is right on their tail, so they may not get to #5 by Sunday's update :(

Best "random/wtf" cool music sighting, hands down- On a cruise to Bermuda I took in 2001 (Royal Caribbean), the onboard music video rotation contained the following treasures: Garbage - Push It Radiohead - Pyramid Song The Cardigans - My Favorite Game and some (then) current stuff...very arbitrary (which I loved) For a week, I existed in a musical climate where 1998 and 2001 collided without anyone really complaining or even noticing. Beautiful.
I was walking through one of the bars (drunk) one night, and I thought I was hallucinating as I saw the "Push It" video projected onto a huge flatscreen panel. Insane.

Ironically enough, I came in here to mention that I'd heard "Starlight" on Big Lots' radio network last night. The next song was "It's The Same Old Song" by the Four Tops. Gave me an adrenaline rush equivalent to what I had after two pots of coffee at Ihop's a month ago.

Looking like a #2 hit now (I don't think it'll outmuscle "Famous Last Words"), being the greatest gainer in the top 10. Payola can be a wonderful thing.

Apparently they're pulling out of the MCR tour. Probably cause their fanbase was so distraught.
