The new album, their sixth, has been announced as Echoes, Silence, Patience, And Grace and will be out September 25th. The single has not been determined yet, but the tracklisting is as follows.
01. "The Pretender" 02. "Let It Die" 03. "Erase Replace" 04. "Long Road To Ruin" 05. "Come Alive" 06. "Stranger Things Have Happened" 07. "Cheer Up Boys, Your Makeup Is Running" 08. "Summer's End" 09. "The Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners" 10. "Statues" 11. "But Honestly" 12. "Home"
I am so psyched for this you have no idea.
Or maybe you do.

I hope the lead single is as rockin' as 'Best Of You' was. One of my favourite songs of the decade, I think, for sure. It's awesome! All the singles from 'In Your Honor' were!

Can't wait for it! I loved "Resolve" from their last album.

I'm definitely excited. I don't know why I'm not more of a diehard fan of these guys. Every album is solid and has your hard hits, radio-friendly hits, and the occasional anthem. I'm guessing this could be big, and it would not surprise me at all if this would have some type of success as Green Day's American Idiot did.

When he's right; I bow down. When he's wrong; I point and laugh.

Excited as well. I loved In Your Honor and I burnt out on it last year.
I expect a #1 debut.

Only a matter of weeks before a sureshot top 3 debut, an agonizing burnout process, and numerous press releases insisting upon still placing this band in Nirvana's shadow. I guess my excitement level is most moderate. Hopefully there'll be some nice videos coming our way.

I guess my excitement level is most moderate. Hopefully there'll be some nice videos coming our way. Yeah, I too find it tiring that Rolling Stone in particular always reviews their albums largely on the basis of Kurt Cobain comparisons, along with just about any post-grunge band, just as they do The Ramones with every modern punk release. Even in their scathing review of Nickelback's album, they mentioned how it's so depressing, even for Kurt Cobain. The Foo Fighters indeed may have been formed, and enjoyed amazing career longevity, on serendipity following the Nirvana fallout, yet they have other influences that don't sprout from Nirvana, and I wish reviewers would rate and review the albums more on how solidly and cohesively they work as a collection of songs rather than how they live up to particular influences. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

No doubt it will go to #1 on its first week regardless of how it sounds because American alternative radio is oh-so-predictable and will play anything by big name acts.

Sincerely, Noah Eaton I mean, why would established, acclaimed musicians such as Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age choose Dave Grohl to play the drums on their records? Is it because he played for Nirvana over a decade ago, or is it because he's just pretty damn good at his craft?

Is it because he played for Nirvana over a decade ago, or is it because he's just pretty damn good at his craft? Rolling Stone would probably have you believe the former. I don't remember their review for In Your Honor, but it made me so angry to read the One by One review and have them assume that after eight fucking years Kurt Cobain was the subject of every song they could possibly link him to. Dave's had that many more years of personal experience to draw from, be inspired by, and write about, so do you think Dave himself buys into all the accolades and credit heaped onto Nirvana? I highly doubt it. It irritates the shit out of me, too, when RS always insists that "What Goes Around..." is about Britney. Their relationship ended over four years from the time that song first appeared. Justin swears it's about his best friend. I recently read it was about the relationship his best friend had with Elisha Cuthbert, of all people. But yeah, Rolling Stone, Justin's break-up songs will always be about Britney.

It seems so long ago, and Justin completely came out on the better end of the breakup in terms of both his career and his romantic partners that you'd think that chapter of his life would be buried right alongside his circa-2000 afro.

Yeah, I'd forgotten too. I wasn't even sure they ever were an item, rather than just a rumor that materialized out of two kids that once performed on the same TV show. Then again, I don't give half a shit about the personal lives of celebrities that are pedestrian to me (which amounts to roughly 99.99999999% of them). If it were up to me, Entertainment Tonight and the entire "E!" channel (when it's not showing SNL glory days reruns) would be the first entities sent straight to hell.

And I fully realized while writing that comment that, with a Justin avatar and signature, to the naked eye, I came off looking like a vapid, celebrity-obsessed "mimbo," but for the most part, the lives of people whose jobs are to make money by exploiting the personal lives of celebrities are worth nothing to me.
