As great as the song is, I think the video is about as disappointing. I mean seriously, what was that?

Anyone else think that the Foos will be up for Best Album Grammy this year? They are in the veteran rock band slot that RHCP and Green Day occupied the two previous years, and Foo Fighters always gets lots of Grammy love with multiple wins in the Alternative Rock category.

Anyone else think that the Foos will be up for Best Album Grammy this year? Unless it gets an unprecedented amount of acclaim, I doubt it. Off the top of my head, Amy Winehouse will probably be in there, though.

Haven't heard the album yet, but I did like the cover they did of "Keep the Car Running" by the Arcade Fire

Couple updates back this had the biggest bullet on the format, just 30 spins ahead of Kid Rock and it was #1! When is the last time a song on the format got this big in Audience & spins? (Serious question since I haven't followed these charts for awhile)
1 1 FOO FIGHTERS The Pretender 2575 2376 199 11.646 4 2 LINKIN PARK Bleed It Out 2235 2069 166 9.074
Linkin Park isn't getting to #1 this time, no way they can beat Foo Fighters.

Also, it could be because by now just about every Alternative station in the country is playing this song, or else if they're not they just plain suck.

Well, LaborDay or not, songs that get to #1 have to stablize at some point anyway so even if there is a super fast rise, there's only so high a song can go.

He forgot some 'ones' with the 1's Or the ever effective 'eleventyhundred' ;) Also, it could be because by now just about every Alternative station in the country is playing this song, or else if they're not they just plain suck. Yah it pretty much had every station playing it within its first week and ALL stations within the second week for sure. I think any station that doesn't have it top 10 right now sucks Wouldn't be surprised if it goes back to 2500ish with 11 million audience and +300ish bullet after September 11th.

My guess is either "Long Road to Ruin" or "Cheer Up Boys, Your Makeup Is Running" will be the second single.

I'm still going to buy the new record opening week, no doubt about that. But after the promise of "The Pretender," it doesn't sound like I'm going to be any more impressed with the new record than I was with the last several, judging by the last couple of lines of this 3-star Spin review: "It's hard to criticize Grohl for his lack of innovation, because he's never wanted to start a revolution. But at this point, Foo Fighters' consistency has become predictability, and it threatens to trap them in the modern-rock ghetto, dangerously close to those guys in Hinder."

Like I pretedicted, just too dominating. Here is your #1 for the rest of the year, seriously - I don't see anything coming close anytime soon unless there's another big act comeback lead single or something lol. Seether is pretty big, but I don't see em going #1 anytime soon. Jez at LP's first single still having top 3 audience :o:

I'm hearing bad things about this album, and I'm skeptical about buying it...pretty much all I've heard is that outside of "The Pretender" and a few other tracks, it's very similar sounding to previous stuff. Although, that's not a horrible thing.

Now I start to believe that this song may have a chance to break the 16wks record at No.1 on Billboard Modern Rock

Now I start to believe that this song may have a chance to break the 16wks record at No.1 on Billboard Modern Rock Since "Long Road To Ruin" isn't going for adds for another five weeks, I think it's all but inevitable at this point. There's just no competition at this point. Only the single's own demise can push it from the top spot, and with impressions that high, I don't see that happening either. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Yah they are pretty unstoppable but with the selection maybe aside from "Empty Walls" from lead singer of System of the Down I would say its the best song so it SHOULD stay at the top for this long!
It would be pretty interesting to see Paramore at the top but with their spreading Pop success I don't think they need to be, they won't get it. This song best represents Alternative rock music and this week it will gain #1 on all major rock formats, amazing!

Well look who's back at #1 in overall audience 3 months after its 20-week run at #1 in airplay.

I mean, The Foo Fighters--There isn't a soul on this planet that hates The Foo Fighters, and I can't think of any other band in existence, ever, about whom one can say the same. But that just shows how deep the mud this format is trying to run in is.
I hope it sticks around longer, overall, than "Paralyzer" at least. Let the record be held in worthy hands.
