This is great news.
3 Doors Down have their second consecutive #1 on the pop charts. How often does that happen these days for a rock band?

What's Beyonce doing on the rock charts anyway?
And what's a thread about the rock charts doing in the pop forum, anyway?

I'm not sure when the last time was... probably the Goo Goo Dolls with "Iris" and "Slide".

And the Goo Goo Dolls were almost number one on the year end charts twice in a row. "Iris" was easily the top song of 1998 and I'm sure it came very close to topping the 1999 chart, but Sugar Ray won the gold that year.
BTW, do you think Beyonce could possibly hit the top? I was hoping she'd hit first, since 3DD would have eventually gone all the way, too, to keep the "number two peaks" (or lack thereof) going.

It'll be weird if Baby Boy didn't hit #1 on the Pop charts (but managed #2), but did so on Urban and Rhythmic, considering it's extremely poppy. It'll be like "Foolish".

It doesn't even look like Beyoncé will reach #1 anymore.

Before the old R&R message board went down, I actually predicted that Beyoncé would have missed the top spot on the pop charts to settle for #2. I had some odd feeling that she'd do that.
This is a little off topic, but I also predicted on the old R&R message board that Hillary Duff's "So Yesterday," would have peaked at #15 on the pop charts. She has made #15 and it looks like she is nearing to peak at that position.

I was hoping for "Here Without You" to make #1 before "Baby Boy" because I assumed 3 Doors Down would lose steam first.
I'm still optimistic that "Baby Boy" will get to the top. The two songs are only 19 spins apart as of this morning, and "Baby Boy" has higher audience impressions than "Here Without You".

"Baby Boy" is suddenly steaming up again. She will most likely make it this week.
I want to see both of them have 2-3 weeks at #1, and it would be very cool to see them flip-flop every week. Has that happened before?

I think Beyonce will make #1 this week, but this will be her only one, I don't see this song lasting a lot longer, as for 3 Doors Down I could see this song spending many weeks at #1, there just isn't anything else out there right now that I think can take this song over, besides currently Beyonce, but I also think this song has the holiday feel to it so I think that the song could still be in the Top 10 at the end of the year, if not still Top 5. Basically, I don't see "Here Without You" going anywhere too fast.

Beyonce is #1 according to the latest update; I think she'll be able to hold through Sunday.
Yes, this definitely seems like the "Again"-"Love Don't Cost A Thing" battle that took place some years ago. Of the two songs, I feel 3DD will have more staying power.

And so the "number two curse" continues...
Since the Top Two are far ahead of the rest in spins, the "curse" could last for at least another month. Possibly for the rest of the chart year (which ends November 28, I believe).
The question is, can it last for the rest of the calendar year? We'll have to see!

And so the "number two curse" continues... There's still two more days to go. Beyonce was ahead of 3DD most of last week too remember. I think Baby Boy will be the year's first #2.

I really don't understand the big deal about this 3DD song. It's easily my least favorite song by them to date. There's nothing worse than whiny, sappy, cliche lyrics from an alternative band.

Was CHUD the only song to even peak at #2 this year counting the weekdays?

Was CHUD the only song to even peak at #2 this year counting the weekdays? Didn't it peak at #3 on the actual chart?

Was CHUD the only song to even peak at #2 this year counting the weekdays? We can guess if somebody has the Top 3 or 4 spin totals every week the Number 3 or 4 song wasn't a Number 1. So no song did well enough to make a song peak at Number 2. Yes, "Can't Hold Us Down" peaked at Number 3.

Yes CHUD, peaked at #3 but got to #2 durring mid week, and i was wondering if it qualifies as the closest call.

wow CHUD did better than I thought it did
It made #2 on the pop chart at one point? That's great
I thought it's #12 peak on the Hot 100 was fairly disappointing, so I didn't think it did that well on Pop

I think so, I'm looking at the #3's of this year (all I can think of is "Bump, Bump, Bump," "Get Busy," "Angel," and "Unwell") and the only one I think that could have gone to #2 mid-week is B2K, but I'm pretty sure they didn't.

Oh no! Why? :( :'( "Curse" isn't the right word here. This year, any song that went to #2 eventually goes to #1. I wouldn't call that a curse. Lol, I'm stilll shocked about the ALCS! It seems the Red Sox and Cubs curse is still in effect! I know the "curse" was not to blame but still...(!) Was CHUD the only song to even peak at #2 this year counting the weekdays? You're right, radiorules; CHUD did peak at #2 sometime midweek, but lost a few spins before the final update. I don't think any of the other #3 peaks reached #2 midweek. And yes, j, I have to agree with you; the "curse" continues! ;)
