Search functions are almost always worthless on message boards.

You guys know you can sort the topics of any given section alphabetically right? Its what I've used recently since the search feature sucks.
When you're looking at the main section, before you click on a thread, click on "Subject" to sort it by name. Then it sorts the topics alphabetically.
You can also sort it by "Thread Starter" & "Replies". It doesn't get stuck that way so don't worry. Once you leave the section and come back to it, its back to its default way.

You always can go into your profile and relocate your posts. There is also the CTRL F option, though that's not always the best method.

One thing you can do is sort a forum by title so then you can see the threads in alphabetical order. It may take a moment or so to get to the page with the post you want on it, but it's doable.
If it's a specific post or piece of information, the main search from the front page occasionally works.

I've noticed it only really works in the General Artist discussion forums. When you step into the ones for singles, it's way messier, as a lot of threads are titled starting with the song's name and not the artist's. Still, it's better than the actual search function...

It used to work perfectly.

Yeah, it's still picking up nothing more recent than about three months ago. Is that a proboards issue or a Pulse issue? The New Topics header makes search a little less important, but it's still useful at times to have a search function. Most likely an issue due to the size of the board (it's the 2nd biggest on Proboards' entire server). Any other Proboards forum where I've used the search feature hasn't given me any trouble.

What's #1? Looks like PMB has actually slipped to #3 since I last checked. These two are both bigger: realwrestlecrap.proboards.com/index.cgi?wfigs.proboards.com/index.cgi?Apparently wrestling is popular among Proboards users.

Thanks. Yuck. Is ProBoards Support at #4? I would think that's quite high.

Why do we need a Captcha for the Search function? It's an unnecessary waste of time.

What do you use the search function for?

^Finding songs in the Nostalgia forum.
Finding movies in the Arts & Entertainment forum.
It prevents duplicate threads.
The search function used to work great.

I haven't been able to get the search feature to work for several weeks. Has it been disabled or just not working for me? Thanks.

It works and then it doesn't work.
I use it a lot in the Nostalgia forum.

It never, ever works. The best thing you can do if you need to make a search is go to Google, type "site:pulsemusic.proboards.com" followed by your query and search it there.

Occasionally it...sort of works, but generally it's very buggy, and not at all reliable. Slizzard's method is definitely your best bet.

I haven't even tried to use it in years. I normally just use the find function on my computer and either go back to the approximate time the thread was last bumped or sort alphabetically/by thread starter.

Thanks for the input. I've successfully used the Search feature for all forums on this board for years. I guess I've just been really lucky. This is the first time that it hasn't worked for me for a prolonged period of time. I'll try the suggestions above.

It is so annoying, though, that the search feature is not working.

I never use the search function. I usually find the thread I'm looking for by running a Google search.

I usually click "Subject" which puts all the threads in alphabetical order.
But in the Nostalgia forum, it's a pain.
Mickey by Toni Basil could be listed 4 ways:
"Mickey" Toni Basil 'Mickey" Toni Basil Mickey Toni Basil Toni Basil Mickey

It's been working lately. Just went and tried it, and regardless of what I search/the settings I use it only shows results before march 1st.
