I think it sounds more like the old Prince.

I think it's okay, kind of bland on first listen. I'll say #12 peak at Pop, with very little attention on other formats.

I have to admit, I was rolling my eyes when I first heard this record. It did nothing for me....however after many listens, I believe Janet has a huge hit on her hands. I love "feel good" pop songs, and the rock edge on this one sounds very fresh. The hook is insanely catchy. This is the type of release you would expect in the summer, however with the lack of quality pop songs on the radio right now, the format will welcome this one with open arms. Should be a huge Top 5 hit!!

This should reach top 5, much better than the lead off singles of the granny-ugly-attention-seeker Madonna and the "voice-is-now-gone" Mariah Carey.
I am glad it is already on the high thirties, should be top 30 in a few days

I didn't love this song when I first heard it, but now I like it a lot. I agree with everyone else who has said that this sounds more like a summer song, and that might hurt it a little. But I still think that this is going top 5, with an outside chance at #1.

This is going to have a huge debut on the Hot 100 and CHR/Pop since it really started exploding right after the charts were published.

I hated it at first, and now I kinda like it. I can't believe it's getting any kind of play at Urban.

Wait, but, then why did my station have it on Friday? Because it was leaked last week, some say intentionally. I'm surprised it's higher on Urban than on Rhythmic. A top 40 Hot 100 debut is quite likely - maybe even Top 30.

I guess I'll be the first to ask this. Why does Mediabase list her as Janet Jackson instead of Janet? Is she going by Janet Jackson again?

I guess I'll be the first to ask this. Why does Mediabase list her as Janet Jackson instead of Janet? Is she going by Janet Jackson again? Charts simply don't credit every song exactly with every featured artist credited. Everybody knows who she is. It's worse if you worked on a hit song but chart, radio, and TV sources didn't credit you so people don't know what you did. Ashanti's first appearances was going I thought officially uncredited in Big Pun's "How We Roll" which flopped, but they liked Ashanti enough to obviously have her make more music. Tammy Rugieri is credited on "I Need A Girl (Part Two)" and I'm assuming she's the female voice you can hear a couple of times at the end. I would guess that most CHR-Pop stations never said her name on the air. "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Jay-Z featured two older artists on the chorus (I forgot their names) that most sources did not credit.

Um, how does this answer Mega's question? ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif) LOL, he is asking what name Janet is going by now on pop radio. You know, like "Prince" or "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince". This has nothing to do with featured artists on a song... And did the title of the song suddently change in the last week? I could have sworn Mediabase had it as "Love Me For A Little While"?

Virgin had a temporary title for the first single but when they released their press release, it was a different title.

The promo ads bill her as simply "Janet"... I assume that's what she's going by (we'll have to see how she's listed on the Billboard charts, since they're pretty good about getting the artist info right).

They usually list her as Janet (Jackson), I think.

Billboard has been listing her as just "Janet" since The Velvet Rope. They even did it with All For You and its singles, even though the CDs and things did list her last name on the side labels.
It seems she's gonna go by just Janet again this time around, so I would guess they'll list her as that, but the Megamix 04 is listed with "Janet Jackson" on the Dance/Club Play chart, even though the promo lists her as just Janet. *shrug*
I prefer just Janet myself, and that's how I list her on my chart

Billboard's review of 'Just A Little While' The following review of "Just A Little While" appears in the February 14 issue of Billboard Magazine:
"Just A Little While" Producer(s): Dallas Austin Writer(s): J. Jackson, D. Austin Publisher(s): Black Ice Publishing/Cyptron Music/EMI Blackwood Music, BMI Label/Catalog Number: Virgin 7243-5-48435-5-6 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: February 14, 2004
Janet Jackson knows how to make a great single. Her latest, "Just a Little While," is another immediate radio hit. The track was leaked to the Internet at the end of January, and while Virgin maintains it did not choose it as the lead single (from the artist's new album), there isn't any reason why "Just a Little While" won't be a smash. The song is supported by guitars reminiscent of "Dirty Mind"-era Prince, new wave synths and the kind of swirling musicality that could garner it multiformat success. In signature fashion, Jackson crafts lyrics that are innocent on the surface yet naughty upon closer inspection. Yes, Miss Jackson is talking about sex, plain and simple. This is the first preview of the artist's eighth studio album, "Damita Jo," due March 30. -KC
