IT depends on what chart you are looking at and Kelly Clarkson is going win her by a long shot whether or not she had the bigger hit.

This is not gonna work because 1) there's an over-abundance of popheads on these boards, and 2) Rhythmic/Urban listeners are quite rare here. I vote Tyrese.

Don't you want to look at the whole picture anyway? Most people, I would argue, are probably popheads anyway, therefore we'd represent the population as a whole. Isn't that what defines how big a hit is anyway by how many people that actually know the song? I didn't voluntarily listen to either song at any point this year... well, except for the one or two times I listened to Tyrese because I never heard him anywhere else. I vote for Kelly.
If this were an Urban forum, I think the results then would be very biased. Looking at the whole picture, why not relay some chart stats for each song? Radio, video, single sales, and if you want to, include album sales and other media forms.

Looking at the Hot 100, I vote Tyrese.
...and for people who think Tyrese was not that big of a hit, you listen to way too much CHR/Pop. Tyrese was getting as much airplay at Urban and Urban AC over the spring as Kelly was getting at pop.

Take my school for example, it would be very hard to find a pophead. Some may know who Kelly Clarkson did because of American Idol, but they may not know "Miss Independent." If you're looking at the "whole picture", then this board would be an inaccurate representation. The truth is, the percentage of Rhythmic/Urban listeners here is much less than in the "whole picture".Looking at the Hot 100, I vote Tyrese. ...and for people who think Tyrese was not that big of a hit, you listen to way too much CHR/Pop. Tyrese was getting as much airplay at Urban and Urban AC over the spring as Kelly was getting at pop. Thank you. And it was on BET all the time.

I also think with polls like these ["Which was the bigger hit?"], quite often people just vote for the one that they prefer because if they hate the opposing song, they refuse to call it a bigger hit.

IT depends on what chart you are looking at and Kelly Clarkson is going win her by a long shot whether or not she had the bigger hit. OVERALL. If you were to say both songs to your parents, which would they know? Dont start making excuses for ur stupid comment I also think with polls like these ["Which was the bigger hit?"], quite often people just vote for the one that they prefer because if they hate the opposing song, they refuse to call it a bigger hit. Im not saying i dont like Tyrese's song. I liked it alot when it was out...all I'm saying is in 10 years which will everyone remember? "How You Gonna Act Like That" or "Miss Independent"...and I know I'll get a reply with 'oh Tyrese...because of the urban listeners' but thats not the case...i garuntee you 75% of people 10 years from now will remember Miss Independent

I don't think people will remember Kelly besides her maybe being a #1 pop hit. They're both forgettable songs.

Tyrese...
i refuse to get involved in a battle of the wits over which genre is better or whatever... all i know is that what Josh said about both songs being forgettable was nailed right on the head...

I didn't even see the Poll Question.
I never even knew there was a line that says "Poll Question..." I may have voted wrong for a lot of polls until now.
I simply voted for the song I liked better - Tyrese (#15) vs Kelly (#DNC).

Same thought here... you can't rely just on charts to determine which song is a bigger hit.

Thats totally what we didnt want happening. We? Who's "we"? If you didn't want it happening, then you should have made it clearer, like put it explicitly in your first post or something. As I've already explained, I voted for my personal favorite because I didn't see the poll question.

They just can't handle Tyrese having the more popular song out of the two nationally.

That makes NO sense. What is your definition of "big"? How much you like it? It can't really be defined... something about how well-known a song is. If it's reached a wide range, it's a big hit.
