"Don't Tell Me" has entered the Top 20, yet her current modest bullet is showing some signs of wear.
Can this single have legs, or is she doomed to join Pink, Nelly Furtado, Mary J. Bilge, etc. in the Comeback Crush?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I think she'll make it alright. The crappy always pull through (with many exceptions)

I hope it flops. Misses top 10. The song sucks and I know she can do better than that. Not only was every last single on the last album better, but most of the SONGS on the last album were better as well

Nope. Payola worked out just fine for Jessica and Britney, and it's gonna happen here, too.

I hope this flops. Her first CD is classic. Like somebody else said, every single song on her last CD was better than "Don't Tell Me". I love "Take me Away" though!

I love the song and will be getting her CD first day it's out. I don't want to count the song over just yet but I fear the song may have a #13 peak or something and that'll be it. Her first CD was too successful. :( Aw well! My station started playing it and they play it a LOT!

We'll see what the video does for the song, or if it will continue to hold a +400 to +500 bullet. If that's so I think it will slowly but surely reach top 15 and maybe top 10.
Her next single will do well, if it's My Happy Ending.

I think she'll either be fine or else otherwise just top those three.
Mary J. and Nelly Furtado didn't even make it THIS far. By the time Pink did, her bullet was down to the 100-200 range and shrinking quickly. Avril's is steady in the 500s.

It's certainly not hype that pushing her this far. If it was hype she would have had a +1000 or +1500 bullet but she's seen very steady modest gains. I think it's word of mouth that's causing her to be this high (#20), which means that she'll probably go quite a bit higher. Maybe #7.

I don't particularly care for Avril Lavigne (esp. her less serious singles - namely Complicated and Sk8er Boi, the latter of which deserved to flop, but instead became another hit for her). However, this song is listenable, and I somewhat like it.Β Anyway, I still predict this will go top ten. There's almost no reason why it wouldn't. And, I don't understand why people are predicting a flop when the song's already in the 20s (or maybe higher, I don't follow the pop charts much), and it's only been out for a month, probably even less than a month. Plus there isn't a video. I still predict it'll be a mediocre hit (compared to her previous successes). #5-6ish

I also can't see this song losing its bullet any time soon. I think it's been having a very interesting rise, it's been for weeks in the 500s, and has not experienced big spins increase or whatever. I also see a lot of room for this song, and I can totally see it exploding once it enters the Top 10 (something like Nickelback's Someday). I still think it'll be #1.

You know, if this song had once been a quadruple-bullet horse, then I would have surely predicted its demise. (i.e., Janet anyone) But really, it has been keeping steady all this time and I think it's slow rise will eventually pave the way for a top 10 hit. And I repeat what I commented on another Avril topic: the song isn't that bad, guys; at least not nearly half as bad as some of the crap released by Jessica or Britney.

If it gets back into the +500-range, then I'll agree with you. Right now it could be that she's slowing. A relatively slow rise into the top 5 would be ideal and not undeserved.
My local rock station is playing another of her new tracks.

I hope this song goes at least Top 10. Even though, I have to admit, it's not as good as her others. But I just want it to get the album noticed. Judging by songs like He Wasn't, Happy Ending, and Nobody's Home, it is going to be AWESOME.

O-M-G!!!! :o It's in the +300'S now and it slipped to # 21 as Jessica leap-frogs over her. Stick a fork in this one, boys and girls!

Not surprised. A lot of people didn't even know she had a new song out.

I wouldn't be surprised if this song were to peak now. I'm seeing no hype for the song or the album. I kinda heard her rock release on the rock station yesterday but couldn't hear it very well.
Where are you people hearing these new songs?

The rock station I mentioned is The Bear, Ottawa. If you listen to the top 8 @ 8, for sure you'll hear it.
As for Don't Tell Me, my rythmic station plays it (I know - there is NOTHING rhythmic about Avril).

I feel like they released this single way too soon. I mean there isn't a video on TV yet and the album doesn't drop until the end of May. If Avril were the type of artist whose songs were slow builders, that move would have made more sense.
Do y'all think there will be another single released before the album drops?

Just saw the video, it's cool, she looks cute in it, and of course she is breaking things. Her gains are down to +379 but I don't see that as a big deal, I'm still certain this song will go top 10 eventually, especially once the video starts playing on TV (which should be tomorrow according to AOL) and once her album date nears closer. I disagree with most of you, I think this song is very catchy and good, no, it may not be as good as some of her former material, but this is good enough to be #1 imo. I'm still keeping my prediction of #1 sometime towards the end of May.

I think that a video will help the song a lot, with the TRL crowd and such. Let's hope so at least! I still have hope for this song.
