Comparing to her first album, this album isn't doing to good. Didn't Avril score 3 straight #1 hits from her debut? I don't see UMS selling more than 3 million.

Well, comparing anything to Avril's first CD is like comparing any of Alanis' CDs to JLP. It's not really a fair comparison. For one thing, I predicted Avril would have one big hit from the CD, a poorly successful followup and then that would be the end of her career but as of now, she's lasted a lot longer than I expected her. She's not really "everywhere" right now so anything she does achieve at this point seems to be done under the radar. 'Nobody's Home' is NEARing the Top 10 and while it might not make it, it's already higher than I predicted for it and it seems to be hanging around...although I don't know exact total of weeks or anything. Three Top 20 singles including a #2 hit from this CD, while isn't *great* when compared to 'Let Go', I think is pretty good for an artist who looked like was going to be a flash in the pan/fad type. I certainly expected more longevity out of someone like Michelle Branch. Either way, I don't think 'Nobody's Home' is over just yet.

I can understand why "Don't Tell Me" didn't do great, it was a horrible song from the beginning. "Nobody's Home" deserves so much more, however. It's one of Avril's best.

i htink the reason NH isnt going top ten is becoz of the log jam at the top. almost everybody is bulleted, and noone looks like giving up any ground. if noone shoots up below her, then she only has BOBD to compete with. im gonna say itll be a painful #11

I take it you prefer "Let Go" to "Under My Skin"? I haven't officially decided yet. I predicted Avril's career would sink during her second album just after her first album was done single-wise, long before there was even news of album #2. She just striked me as that kind of artist. The type with no longevity and a flash in the pan. So far however, she has passed my expectations. While 'Don't Tell Me' didn't do all that great for a first single, 'My Happy Ending' made up for that and now 'Nobody's Home' is doing *decent*. Not *spectacular* but not *bad* either. As for while CD I like better. 'Let Go' has mostly ups with just a few downs while 'Under My Skin' has ups but more downs. 'Let Go' sounds dated while 'Under My Skin' is a current sounding CD and 'Under My Skin' contains Avril's best song of her career ('Nobody's Home'). So yeah, I can't really decide which CD I like better at this point. I'll just say I'm surprised and pleased with Avril's continued not-in-your-face success.

I'm still surprised this hasn't done better. As for the album talk, I prefer Under My Skin to Let Go, easily.

I also prefer "Under My Skin". "Let Go" sounds so childish..."Under My Skin" is a lot more mature. I prefer Avril embracing her rocker side on "Under My Skin", for some reason. :)

It's about to get passed by Numb/Encore too. And there's not enough falling in front of it for it to get sucked up. Looks like #12 was wishful thinking. :(

I agree this is Avril's best song to date. I'm surprised it's not doing better. MHE was also very good. Is Clive senile, or did he actually think DTM was the best choice for first single from this album? I blame that song for Avril's lesser album sales this time around.

If MHE was released first it would've hit #1 solidly, and NH would definitely had cracked the top 5 as a follow up hit. After that she wouldn't have to resort to something as childish as "He Wasn't."

Exactly. I have no idea why they decided to release DTM first. Excessive drug use.

I really like NH. I like Avrils bit of vulnerability but the lyrics are lame and hard, for me anyway, to get into. Her singing tone is good. Really, probably her best vocals on any song she has ever done.

Love the last 2 singles she has put out. Maybe I will buy the c.d. now.

Something I love about this song is that even though it hasn't hit the top 10, it's had such longevity! It's been at the 13-14 range for weeks. It was there before Christmas, and is still there now. I think that's awesome. The bullet is currently +4. Avril will begin her plunge soon. Hopefully - and this is one of the few times I will wish this on anyone/thing - it will be a slow and painful death.

Long live 'Nobody's Home'! It's the first song since 'Before You' by Chantal Kreviazuk that a song has topped both of my charts for double-digit weeks!
As of last updated charts, 'NH' spent 15 weeks at #1 on The Max and 11 weeks at #1 on MT40... compared to 'Before You' which had 10 weeks on The Max and 13 weeks on MT40.

It's already spent at least one week at #13. That's right. It was #13 on the 1/14 chart. Thanks. I forgot it got up there, then got leap frogged.

Avril is at #2 on my personal chart, held back by the public FAVORITE (LOL) Ashlee Simpson!
I think next week, it'll be in Avril's hands though. :)
