This song is really, really good. MuchMusic has already thrown it into ultra-high rotation, I see it on there every time I flip by. The video kind of disturbs me, when she's that homeless girl, but it's strong and a very good song.
I bought her album back in early July and it's pretty solid. I dont listen to it anymore just because I can't listen to albums for more than a month, but this is one of the better songs on there, and that's saying something considering most of the songs are good.
That's true about the Cranberries comparison, she does hit some notes that remind me of their songs. Avril looks great in the black/white part of the video.
I really liked "Fall To Pieces" alot too
I'm fairly certain NH will go at least Top 10

It's a pity that she wants to release He Wasn't last. "Fall to Pieces" would be the perfect 4th single.

"He Wasn't" will be major musical regression for her if she releases it.

UGh, I'd rather she stop at three (4 if you count "Take me away") singles than release "He Wasn't". She shouldn't release "How Does It Feel" either. I'd love for "Freak Out" to be released, but a lot of people hate that song. I love it

He Wasn't? Oh jesus. Fall To Pieces, Slipped Away, and Who Knows would all be good fourth singles.

He Wasn't? Oh jesus. Fall To Pieces, Slipped Away, and Who Knows would all be good fourth singles. ... except not "Slipped Away." "He Wasn't" is not a bad single choice. It's certainly not the best song on the album, but people will like. Critics also call it the best song on the album. But if I chose the singles, it would look like this. 1. My Happy Ending 2. Fall to Pieces 3. Nobody's Home 4. Don't Tell Me

Good song...it's been one of my favorites from Under My Skin when I first got it. However, I'm not sure how it'll do on Pop. To her credit, Avril has always been successful, with the exception of Losing Grip, but this song...it's very good, but I'm not sure. It may do well because tons of young females, and even males, can relate to it, but it may not do well because most people are expecting break-up songs from Avril, etc. As for the fourth single? Wow, Avril would be right back to square one if she throws out He Wasn't. I feel the same way about Who Knows and Freak Out. I think her 4th single from Under My Skin should be Take Me Away. My favorite on the entire album. And I think it would be a good choice because it's mature, just like Nobody's Home. Back-to-back good songs? It would portray Avril as a better musician. That'd be good for her, since the majority of people do not take her seriously. I mean, as a big Avril fan, I can admit that I don't take her seriously, although I do enjoy her music. I say "Take Me Away"... And as for the Avril/Michelle comparison? Just wanted to say mine. Here goes: Are You Happy Now? >> Don't Tell Me. Breathe >> My Happy Ending. Til' I Get Over You << Nobody's Home.

I don't like "Take Me Away" that much, but it's a lot better than "He Wasn't."

Um. Take Me Away is her worst song. Ever. Not only is it her worst quality song, but it's also her worst vocal song. Never has she sounded so terrible in a song. Gag. Don't remind me of that song. It IS gut-wrenchingly awful.

"Take Me Away" would end the album on a worse note than "Losing Grip" did for Let Go. It's not radio friendly at all. :(
"He Wasn't" would have a run similar to "Losing Grip". It wouldn't sound bad on the radio, but it wouldn't go Top 10, and it would have a fast fall.
I think "How Does it Feel" would be best to close the album, be it 4th single or be it later.

I'm completely standing behind my choice for "Fall To Pieces" fourth.

She sounds terrible on Take Me Away. I agree that Fall To Pieces should be released next.

I completely disagree. I believe it's Avril's best, to date. I'm a vocalist. And a song writer. Avril is a great singer, but she strains her voice in the chorus and it sounds terrible. The song quality is just your opinion though.

A lot of people LOVE how she sounds in it. So you cant just say, well I am a vocalist so my opinion is correct! There is so much grey area...even a qualified person may have different opinions from another qualified person. Credentials dont make your words facts.

I didn't want to sound arrogant at all. Song quality is someone's opinion, and someone may like Avril's voice type in the song, but she's still STRAINING HER VOICE. When one strains their voice while singing it produces a BAD SOUND. That = fact. Not opinion.

Person #1: The new Christina song sucks. Person #2: I like it, she sounds good in it Person #1: I'm a writer. And a vocalist. Her song sucks. You're wrong. Person #2: ah... I happen to like her voice in that song. I don't think it's strained. It sounds good and goes with the song. What makes you a vocalist? You took lessons? LOL! I'm a vocalist too, I sing sometimes along with songs on the radio :)

I'm not that stupid. Why is that people freak out when someone back's something up with experience? I said I can tell when someone is straining their voice, and I KNOW because yes, I've had lessons. I call myself a vocalist because I PRACTICE singing. You're not a f**king vocalist if you sing along to the radio. I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything, I'm just pointing out that when you've practiced singing from more than 3 years, you can tell when someone is straining their voice. AND AVRIL IS STRAINING HER VOICE IN THIS SONG. I actually love Avril's voice, but this song doesn't suit her if she has to strain her voice like that in the chorus. Geesh.

It's actually your opinion that straining sounds bad. Maybe some people have an opinion that a strained voice suits this type of song well.

No there's actually factual evidence as to whether or not vocals are used properly.

There are some facts that someone may or may NOT be using their voices properly...but in the long run it means next to nothing. Half the rock stars out there would be out of jobs for "not singing properly." Christina Aguilera is normally hated on for not singing properly and straining...but I love how she sounds and so do millions others. I happen to think her voice sounds good in this song. It SOUNDS like it should for this song and I like it. Other people like it too. Im not going to suddenly proclaim it sucks because someone barges in swearing that their training in vocals makes them right and we are all wrong.
