There are some facts that someone may or may NOT be using their voices properly...but in the long run it means next to nothing. Half the rock stars out there would be out of jobs for "not singing properly." Christina Aguilera is normally hated on for not singing properly and straining...but I love how she sounds and so do millions others. I happen to think her voice sounds good in this song. It SOUNDS like it should for this song and I like it. Other people like it too. Im not going to suddenly proclaim it sucks because someone barges in swearing that their training in vocals makes them right and we are all wrong. Dude...what is the deal with you? You're like....speaking my mind! Stop, it's creeping me out! No, but really, we have very similar opinions --- at least in what's been mentioned in this thread. :)

You may think it doesn't "suck," but it still doesn't deter from the fact that when someone strains their voice it produces a sound that's not as pleasant. I just think it sounds bad when any artist strains their voice because I think artists should use their voice properly. When they're not using it properly, they're trying to be something they're not. With "Take Me Away," Avril's trying to be rock-ish, and I don't think rock suits her voice type because she strains when she sings those types of songs. Christina Aguilera doesn't strain her voice usually because she has the range. . . but when she does it's probably while she's ad libbing and I personally think ad libbing sounds terrible. Many rock stars train their voices so they can handle that strain, but many of them end up runing their voices (uh, Ozzy Ozbourne?). Back on topic. . . Nobody's Home is picking up fast, do you think it could reach a bullet above 1000?

In fact, I'd like to say that it will, but it's too early to tell. We'll have to wait and see. :)

Hmmm... I don't really like this song. It just seems a bit glum and not as catchy as the first two singles... I'll say it just cracks the Top 15.

I like it a lot. More than the previous two singles, in fact. Good song.

Uh...this is all still opinion. ;) Exactly what I was going to say You are reading my mind now ;) What is pleasant to you may be unpleasant for other people. Likewise, what is pleasant for us may not be for you. Its a difference of opinions, not a statement of fact. Good to see the song picking up. I hope it goes top 10 at least.

Don't people like Chester Bennington also strain their voice all the time? I don't think it's necessarily bad. I think Chester sounds great. I don't like "Take Me Away" tho. Anyway whether straining your voice sounds great or not is an opinion and clearly it works for some people but not for others.

I think Avril sounds good in "Take Me Away", wether or not a "professional" "vocalist" tells me she doesn't sound good.

Yeah, most of it was an opinion. Not the first statement though ;). I think you need a quick review of what an opinion is

Rob64: Alanis has nice teeth, I like them! Dentist: Alanis does NOT have nice teeth. Rob64: I think she does. :) Dentist: I'm a dentist. A professional. You're wrong. Her teeth aren't nice. That = fact Rob64: oh.. ok.. it was just an opinion... Dentist: No. It's a fact. Rob64: ah...

No I perfectly understand what an opinion is, and what a fact is. Trust me I've been on many boards where people debate what's really fact and what's really opinion. o·pin·ion (…-p¹n“y…n) n. 1. A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof. fact (f²kt) n. 1. Information presented as objectively real. There, I went through it myself. "Of course not. You may think it doesn't "suck," but it still doesn't deter from the fact that when someone strains their voice it produces a sound that's not as pleasant. " ^ This is fact. Want to know why? Because there is substantial proof to show that strained vocals cause a more cacophonous sound than unstrained vocals. Rob64: ah...Haha. Funny. Do want me to take back what I said? Cause I realize it sounded arrogant, but now you're just being the ass.

What sounds pleasant or not is COMPLETELY opinion. maybe people LIKE cacophonous sounds. Maybe it sounds PLEASANT to them. Thats an OPINION. Once again...think about the word and what you said.

And that is your opinion and you are allowed to have that. I think she sounds fine and it suits the song :)
I dont think it should be a single though. I still favor Who Knows. Dont ask me why. Most fans dont even like it.

If everyone disliked the sound of strained vocals, Ashlee Simpson wouldn't have a career.

I don't think there's any point in arguing anymore, because obviously I have a different opinion of what's an opinion .

sorry to break the debate but...
morning update: Nobody's Home: +1031 :)
She never achieved a four digit bullet with DTM or MHE. This is definitely a good sign. Still, I don't wanna speak too soon.

It's definitely the song with the best start of the 3 from this CD. It could easily be greatest gainer soon. I think this signals a turnaround in the attitude towards Avril from radio programmers. Until now, she's been in sophmore limbo world -- not sure if she wouuld survive album no. 2.

I think the turnaround came with MHE. She proved that she could still have massive single success.

I like this song. And the video is creative. I'm impressed with Avril's recent material. I thought her debut album was just as teeny-bopperish as any Britney album, but her sophomore album took a new direction. I wish all the luck to Avril in the future. I think this will make top 5, but definitely miss the number 1 spot.

Well, by the time the song had peaked yes, but it was a relatively slow builder. It was as if no one wanted to put her in high rotation in case the song ended up flopping. With this track, there seems to be more confidence right out of the box.

MHE maxed out around +800 or so. What really pisses me off though is that the radio industry didn't have enough confidence in the song to stick it at #1. It was so close.

By the time they had realized the song was actually a hit, it had already been out for too long to quite make the #1 position.
