She still looks a mess, but that performance was a billion times better than anything she ever did on Idol and on her solo projects. Bravo.

I thought whoever dressed her, and from looking at the pics it was most likely Robert Verdi, did an amazing job. The way they had the lighting set for that performance and the way it hit that long black dress and the slicked back hair was just beautiful. Visually it was stunning

That dress was AWESOME. She was definitely one the "best dressed" of the night. Definitely don't understand the comment of her looking a "mess". I think people have a problem with her because she doesn't wear the wigs or weaves or extensions, perhaps if she had a long weave on people would like the look better.
She looked beautiful. Fantasia needs to take that guy (Robert) with her where ever she goes.
Props to CBS for giving Fantasia the royal treatment and highlighting her throughout their entire show with beautiful Fantasia photos and giving her the last performance spot of the night.
Broadway has toasted their newest star and made her look fabulous doing it.

I didn't think she looked a mess, but she is bigger than I've ever seen her before though.

I LOVED THIS! ahotmess.wordpress.com/2007/06/11/will-the-real-singers-stand-up-a-short-essay/Now, not to say that Ms. Keyshia Cole isn’t a GRRRRRRRRRRREAT singer *cough* but seriously, this is singing. Fantasia showed them why she has boosted ticket sales on Broadway and why she won American Idol. She showed that SHE IS HERE. You can’t even watch that clip and not think even the slightest bit of “wow.” That is singing! You see those tears? She felt that thing. She connected with it. It resonated deep in her soul. She was pitch perfect and she hit every note. That is what true music should do. Not make you snap ya fingers and buy dranks. That’s all well and good…but songs like “I Am Here’ stand the test of time — “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” do NOT. And Jean Baylor who knew that she could sing like that? I mean, we knew she could sing. But my JESUS, she to’ this up. You see that same passion and feeling from her that you felt from Fantasia. She feels this too. She mean this. It sounds fantastic! She’s playing the piano. She wrote the song. This is amazing. I present Evidence A & B that music is still alive. R&B is not dead. We just got the wrong gatekeepers promoting it! T-Pain? Shareefa? Cassie? Really? For every 30 of them though, there are 1 or 2 people somewhere who are really snatched from the past vocally and artistically who make music that is still about the vocals and talent. Enjoy this — it’s few and far between these days. Note: This is first in a hopefully continuing series of posts on random thoughts on music, culture, celebrity life, or whatever else the hell I feel like ranting about! Agree? Disagree? Let’s discuss it.v

got this from SNOW on .net GO GET EM TASIA! Fantasia Barrino Sings the Praises of Literacy and Education GREENWICH, Conn., June 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 30 million adults in the United States have below basic literacy skills and are unable to comprehend and use written information(1), yet the increasingly competitive job market makes education and literacy more important than ever. This is why beauty brand Suave® and Dollar General® stores are teaming up with American Idol winner, recording artist and Broadway star Fantasia Barrino to award scholarships to students who are dedicated to education, as well as to recognize their invaluable role models -- especially mom's who have encouraged others to pursue their dreams through education. The "Suave Essay Contest" invites students to write about how someone has helped them improve their life through education for the chance to win a $10,000 scholarship and a trip to New York to meet Fantasia. Having overcome her own challenges with literacy, Fantasia Barrino is a true idol to both children and adults. She has served as an inspiration to millions who admire her courage. As an integral part of the "Suave Essay Contest," Fantasia is helping raise awareness of an important, sometimes overlooked issue as well as build excitement in students for learning and education. "I am thrilled to partner with Suave and Dollar General on a program that delivers such a vital message about literacy and education," said Fantasia. "Having struggled with literacy, I know the importance of reading skills and how important a good education is. I encourage all students to think about bettering their literacy skills to realize their dreams." "Now in its fourth year, the 'Suave Essay Contest' continues to grow, awarding much-deserved scholarships and recognizing the role mentors play in the lives of Americans," said Lisa Klauser, Vice President, Unilever, Brand Building and Marketing Excellence. "We are thrilled to be able to honor role models or any mentor who has been an inspiration and made a positive impact- especially moms who have so much to juggle on a daily basis. "As an ardent supporter of education and a firm believer in the life- changing impact it can have, Dollar General is pleased to partner with Suave to offer this scholarship opportunity to our customers," said David Perdue, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "Education is a powerful tool that not only benefits the individual, but positively affects communities, businesses and future generations. We hope these scholarships will open doors for some deserving students who will then share their knowledge and love of learning with others." (1) According to National Institute of Literacy's 2003 National Assessment of Adult Literacy Submit an Essay for the Chance to Win Scholarship Money! The "Suave Essay Contest" program asks people five years of age or older to submit an essay about how a role model (mother, parent, teacher, relative or friend) helped them improve their life through education. Beginning Monday, June 18, students can enter online at www.dollargeneral.com/ or www.suaveessaycontest.com/ or by picking up an official entry form at any Dollar General store. One grand-prize winner will receive a $10,000 grant toward a college savings plan and three first prize winners will receive a $5,000 grant. All four winners will have the exciting opportunity to travel to New York City with a guest to see Fantasia star in "The Color Purple" on Broadway and meet her after the show. In addition, 2,000 second-place entrants will win a $50 Visa Gift Card. Entries submitted by mail must be postmarked by Friday, July 20, 2007 and received by Friday, July 27, 2007. Online entries must be received by Friday, July 20, 2007.

Thanks "areyouready.....It's all good, cause she is #3 on the R&B singles chart...J needs to ship...original shipment was 400,000.....also she needs more digital sales...But for a record not being promoted either by the artist or the record company, "Fantasia" is doing darn good!!
Peace

They need to get off their butts and ship more copies if that's the truth. Whether an album is selling strong or not, when it hit 400k in sales, they should've been on it already shipping out another 200-300k more copies to retail.

There's a lot of noise about the next single being one of the following: Baby Makin Hips, I Feel Beautiful, I Nominate You, Surround U and Two Weeks Notice. I'm pushing for IFB, TWN and Surround U. As long as it's not I Nominate You, all is well. :)

I really can not understand why this album has not went 2x platunium yet...The album is excellent...The 1st single should have been ,"When I See U", then 2nd "Baby Makin Hips",perfect for the summer and 3rd,"I Feel Beatiful", in perfect time for the grammies..J records is so dumb as we all already know from whats going on with Kelly Clarkson new LP if ur label is not behind u expect to fail. I know this album can redeem it self..More PR ..damn, I feel for my girl Fantasia she would do better on Interscope or Geffen

I do feel like she's outgrown J. It seems like more than a couple of their young black artists have complained about a lack of promotion, and a notable amout left them. Busta, Rah digga, Rhymefest and a few others.
I'd love to see her on G.O.O.D., though Keyshia's kind of the queen of R&B over there. It'd be awesome to have her sign to Aretha's new label, but that's basically still J. What label is Quincy affiliated with? Can Oprah start a label? Harpo Records - that would be cool.

ceddie05, this CD hasn't shipped 1 million yet, so it hasn't reached platinum status. Clive Davis and J Records have taken the snail route on Fantasia. Her pre-release promo was lame (actually all promo has been non-existant), Hood Boy was released too late and radio isn't warming up to her like they did with Free Yourself.
Steadily and slowly, but surely, this album will see itself double platinum and award-winning.
