An album of unreleased tracks has been under wraps and in the works for a while. Missy & Tim were supposed to be exec-producers of it but, of course, it's on the backburner while they focus on other projects. Also, there were some unfinished tracks that they were considering splicing into collabos with other artists. Hopefully, it will see the light of day in the next couple of years. Blackground made it clear that they don't wanna exploit Aaliyah's death for posthumous record sales like other dead artists and so they want to release ONE final album and make it as finite as possible.

I don't care what anybody says, Aaliyah was a damn good album. Now the music on that album is fresh.

Babygirls 'Aaliyah' album to this day remains one of my greatest and definitely my greatest R&B album, it was fresh like said above and was ahead of its time!! Every track is like a breath of fresh air!!
I miss Aaliyah a lot!! I would always look forward to seeing her new music video and hearing her latest tracks, and the fact that I can listen to everyone of her songs still is just a testimant to how timeless her music is today!! I love and miss you Aaliyah and cant wait for Tim & Missy to get that album done for you!!

They sort of did that with I Care 4 U, but most of those songs didn't seem like Aaliyah would have wanted them released. It was a pretty good combination of old, new and unreleased so I give them credit for it.
I'm sure she has enough material for them to just do one final album and make it a double disc. One would be unreleased material with Aaliyah solely and another with featured guests. I can already see them tapping Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Ciara, Janet, Lil' Kim, Jay-Z, Usher, Ginuwine, JoJo, Tank and T.I. for collaborations. Maybe a nice Aaliyah/B.I.G. collaboration? Possibly Amerie and Keri Hilson too for kicks? I just got myself all excited with that list, LOL. That would be kinda crazy though, but it could be done with Tim & Missy overseeing the project.
Someone needs to ask Timbaland or Missy about this ASAP, LOL.
BTW, while Blackground wouldn't want to exploit her death... it's probably the only thing that would save the label since they are about to lose JoJo for not doing right by her.

I'm bumping this up.
Aaliyah is one of my all-time favorite artists, and I'm listening to the self-titled CD right now and I'm just in awe at how huge Timbaland has become and how huge Aaliyah would be right now if she were still with us.
Anybody else a fan of her work? :)

One In A Million is easily one of the best R&B songs of the 90's. She was so underrated for a long period a time, and it's sad that it took her death for people to realize just how incredibly talented and beautiful she really was. I trully believe, if she was out today, she would have been HUGE.

I'm still bumping songs from all of her albums. The day after she passed was the first day of 8th grade and everyone was crying. She still means a lot to me, love her!
One In A Million is one of the best R&B albums ever!!

'Rock The Boat' is timeless to me. It winds up on one of my mixes every summer. It's the perfect summer song!

I was sick with grief when I found out that Saturday night on MTV, I couldn't sleep, I cried. I grieved for years afterwards, I loved (love) her so much. She was SO beautiful. Are You That Somebody, How Could The One I Gave My Heart To, Hot Like Fire, One in A Million and We Need A Resolution are my favorite tracks of hers among others. I have a hard time to listening to her because I get sad, but I'm gonna try and listen to her more.

When Aaliyah died I barely knew who she was. I only knew Try again and had remembered seeing Romeo must die and never thought she was that great. Now that I'm a bit older and I've discovered her music for myself I've realised how incredible she is. She's like none other and I'm glad I didn't listen to her when she passed because if a pop star I really liked died I'd be so upset.
Oh god if Janet died... LAWD HAVE MERCY! I'd be a wreck!

I was at a bathhouse when she died. Or maybe that was Left Eye. Either way, it was pretty tragic. I came back at like 8 AM and my friend told me and I thought she was lying.

I'm listening The One I Gave My Heart To now. She will be as big as Beyonce, even bigger if she's still alive. :( She died after shoot Rock Da Boat video, right? Tragic... I also remember half part of More Than A Woman video wasn't her, but computer effect cos she died.

Aaliyah was doing it BIG with her self-titled.
'We Need A Resolution', 'More Than A Woman', and the 'Rock The Boat' videos were incredible. She looks absolutely stunning in all three.

If any album is to be released in the future, they want it to be FINAL, as in they want it to be the last Aaliyah album to be released. It also has to be passed by the Haughton family.
That was the case the last time I checked.

Wait...I just realised you're from Australia. I honestly thought you were from America. She was a successful crossover artist from the start and her music appealed to all people regardless of age or race. I remember Back and Fourth in 1994 (I was only 6), that was HUGE. I doubt you can find one person who doesn't know Try Again, Are You That Somebody, 4 Page Letter, or One In a Million (had to bold it, when that released, it was the anthem, THE jam!!). MTV and BET loved Aaliyah, played her non-stop. The singles from Aaliyah weren't as huge, but Rock the Boat was a radio hit and More than A Woman got lots of video play. I Miss You is probably my second favourite song to OIAM.

7 years! Wow. That's the same amount of time that she was in the industry before she passed. I really hope that posthumous album materializes when the time is right. I'm glad they didn't immediately capitalize on her death.
