Yeah, a #1 debut that has already gone multiplatinum. What a failure. I know, what a disappointment. Shut up, people. Jeez. How many songs do you have on radio right now? Oh, yes, that's right... And I do not agree with the payolla at all. Z-100 is increasing her airplay, but it's because the song is growing on people. I do not believe Geffen is paying anyone right now, except themselves. Stop hating. Jeez.

It's simple, you moron. I don't and can't sing, can't write my own songs, and don't play any instruments. Thus, I am not a singer or in a band. Consequently, I don't have any songs on the radio. That doesn't mean I can't diss Ashlee for having crappy songs and being a dumb famew**re. btw, You said the most retarded thing you could say when defending Ashlee Simpson. HER SONGS ARE ON THE RADIO BECAUSE SHE IS JESSICA SIMPSON'S SISTER. WHETHER YOU LIKE HER OR NOT, THIS IS A FACT. If I was Avril Lavigne's little brother or Justin Timberlakes cousin then I could have my "songs" on the radio too. Geesh.

im surprised that i still like this song. I thought for sure that it would get old, but not yet.
I dont care what people say, I think the video rocks! But it would have been better if the video revolved around the storylines she describes in the song with a "Toxic" kinda vibe.

Ashlee may not be able to sing! Her personality may suck! She may not have any discerniable talents, whatsoever! But Pieces of Me was a good song... wasn't it?

And thats probably why it did well. The more bland, boring, and personalityless the better...just so the artist is running around with spiked belts and bracelets, dyes her hair back, and screams about how she is a rock artist.

As opposed to some chick on a piano making up lyrics about unicorns flying high in coats of white? Here's the deal - we've all got different tastes. There's no need to argue on it. You can argue why Ashlee sucks all you want, I'll still like her in the morning. I can argue why Vanessa Carlton sucks. You'll still like her in the morning. Is there a point? No. That's the way I see it. *shrug*

If you want to go to the Vanessa topic and argue why she sucks...go ahead See unlike some people here, I actually like people to be able to say their opinions. When fans come shrieking in about how haters should shut up and never say a negative opinion...I just laugh. Its all so silly to me. I was born as a human with a voice and a brain. I think that other humans should be allowed to disagree and critique. Why put some iron clamp down on people and say no negative opinions allowed? Because you are too immature to handle it? Well...grow up.
(Oh and the VC song utilizes a metaphor of vampires and unicorns (and historically what they stand for) to explain her feelings about the world-I wouldnt expect you or Ashlee to know what a metaphor is or how it works though

Who the hell are you to tell me that I'm immature and that I don't know what a metaphor is? I happen to like Vanessa to some extent, thank you very much, I just dislike "Harmonium" because it's boring and the lyrics suck. She tries hard to sound clever by throwing in a bunch of lines that are supposed to be clever, but together, it's shit. You've got a lot of nerve, and are rude and disrespectful, judging from your "holier-than-thou" attitude. And for the record, a metaphor is a comparison between two objects, without using the words like or as. Surprised?

1. Like I said, if you want to bash Vanessa, go to her thread and do so. I wont tell you to shut up because I have grown up and understand that people have different negative opinions and that debate is allowed. Yes I think you are immature because you have viciously attacked every single person who dares speak against Ashlee in this topic AND your defenses are 1. Viciously attacking other artists you happen to know those people like or 2. declare that we cant complain because how many songs do we have on the radio (both asinine defense mechanisms) 2. **screams with laughter** MY GOD! THAT IS PERFECT! What you described is NOT a metaphor-its a simile moron There IS a difference

In case any of you want to sing along, here are the lyrics. I don't think they've been posted prior to this. My apologies if they have been.
You can dress me up diamonds You can dress me up in dirt You can throw me like a line-man I like it better when it hurts
Oh, I have waited here for you I have waited
You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor I'll be a french maid When I meet you at the door I'm like an alley cat Drink the milk up, I want more You make me wanna You make me wanna scream
You can meet me on an aero-plane Or in the back of the bus You can throw me like a boomerang I'll come back and beat you up
Oh, I have waited here for you Dont, keep me waiting
You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor I'll be a french maid When I meet you at the door I'm like an alley cat Drink the milk up, I want more You make me wanna
You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor I'll be a french maid When I meet you at the door I'm like an alley cat Drink the milk up, I want more You make me wanna You make me wanna scream
I feel safe with you I can be myself tonight It's alright, with you Cuz you hold, my secrets tight You do, You do
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la la
You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor I'll be a french maid When I meet you at the door I'm like an alley cat Drink the milk up, I want more You make me wanna You make me wanna la la in the kitchen on the floor I'll be a french maid When I meet you at the door I'm like an alley cat Drink the milk up, I want more You make me wanna You make me wanna scream
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la You make me wanna la la, la la la la Taken from azlyrics.com ;)

C'mon, people... It's one thing to express your opinion. It's another thing to call someone an "idiot" or a "moron" because you don't agree with them. Say what you want about whether or not you think Ashlee has talent, but I think the vast majority of people, whether they'll admit it or not, loved Pieces Of Me. I was out with some friends at a bar here in Madison on Saturday night that was playing mostly new music. It wasn't a dance club or anything, so most people were basically ignoring the music. Then Pieces Of Me comes on. Of course, half the guys in the place roll their eyes... but as the song progresses, people start singing along. By the time the chorus hits, the entire packed bar was singing along to Ashlee... It was hilarious! Something about that song is just irresistible. --DanG

I don't know why I'm arguing with some 12 year-old, so whatever. I don't want to get this thread closed, so I'm done. And thank you for whoever said that people should express their opinions, whether they are positive ones or not. DanG82, I personally think Pieces Of Me is an incredibly bland and boring song. Seriously, I don't see anything special about it at all.

Say what you want about Ashlee, but “La La” is catchy as hell. I love rolling down the windows in my car and pumping this. It’s might not be as good as the first two singles, but it’s exciting to listen to, that’s for sure.

I love this song and love the album. Pieces was very popular and many though the chorus was catchy. She has sold 2 million.
The song isn't doing as well as I hoped but it is several factors behind that which is making it fail.
Her show starts in January and she isn't going away.

Yeah, my local station isn't really playing it much and the reason is because they hated Shadow, so they picked up La La as the second single instead. They were already burnt out on it by the time it actually became the third single. So there's a good 40-60 spins a week the song is losing.

If we're done with the childish bickering, can we get back to the song now?

Ashlee Simpson to Headline First Tour
Associated Press
Dec. 21, 2004
NEW YORK - Ashlee Simpson, whose appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" went awry in a does-she-or-doesn't-she lip-synch moment, will go on the road next year in her first headlining tour.
The tour, scheduled to start Feb. 18 in Los Angeles, will include shows in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Dallas, Geffen Records announced last week.
Simpson, who released her debut album, "Autobiography," earlier this year, will host the West Coast portion of ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve 2005." The 20-year-old singer also will perform at the Orange Bowl halftime show in Miami on Jan. 4.
