NEW YORK - Ashlee Simpson, whose appearance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" went awry in a does-she-or-doesn't-she lip-synch moment Can sleeping dogs lie?! I mean, Jesus, Britney Spears has made a career out of lip-synching, and she's still selling millions! Leave Ashlee alone already! This happened a long time ago! Jeez!

Say what you want about Ashlee, but “La La” is catchy as hell. I love rolling down the windows in my car and pumping this. It’s might not be as good as the first two singles, but it’s exciting to listen to, that’s for sure. I agree! Well, not about the car part, I don't drive, but about the fact that it's fun pumping it and is exciting to listen to. I love singing along, even though my vocals are about as good as William Hung's. In any case, it's a fun track, and that's why I enjoy it so much. :)

Did this show up on any radio station's year-end chart, just out of curiosity?

What type of venues is she playng...I know she's a new artist but she's sold quite a bit and already has a strong following just from her show

Can sleeping dogs lie?! I mean, Jesus, Britney Spears has made a career out of lip-synching, and she's still selling millions! Leave Ashlee alone already! This happened a long time ago! Jeez! Times have changed. Britney was catching a lot of heat before she faked her leg injury to get out of her tour. Reviewers are not going to let artists slide on lip synching anymore. Concert tix are expensive and the patron deserves the real thing. If an artist can't deliver the real thing the public should know before they buy the ticket. Ashleys debacle at SNL after claiming to NEVER lipsynch makes her a liar as well as a fraud. If she takes advantage of her many second chances she'll sing live and take her chances with the critics. She'll feel better about herself and maybe become a real artist.

To me, the pathetic thing is that at least with a Britney show, you should pretty much know what you're getting. You know you'll basically get a spectacle with canned music, and she generally delivers. That's not my thing, but there's definitely an audience for that. Ashlee doesn't put on that kind of show, she doesn't even dance (the hoedown on SNL doesn't count); so she doesn't even have that flimsy "excuse" for lipsynching. Not to mention that she's promoted herself as a "real" "rock" artist (which I never believed, but quite a few people bought into that image). Maybe that's why she's finally been called out as an example. Although I do think it blows that she's the only one being used as a pariah while others like Hilary Duff are getting away with it. It seemed like there was going to be a fuss over Lindsay Lohan on GMA, but that kinda fizzled.
To Ashlee's credit, it seems as though all her subsequent performances are live, although it's sad that off-key yelling (which TRUE rock singers do not do on a regular basis - they'd lose their voices) is praised solely because it's live. The positive with "La La" (see, back to topic!) is that she can perform it live and nobody can tell the difference.
So, is this getting more play in all dayparts now? Or are there still some of those stations who only give it "CD Preview" (aka payola) spins in the middle of the night?

Well, the Black Eyed Peas's "Shut Up" flopped, and they went on to have hits, did they not?
I'd hardly say Ashlee is over. Not yet. I just think this isn't the single that would have put her back on top.

But BEP didn't have the whole snl thing behind them. Everytime my radio station plays Lala (which is rare) the dj's always bring up snl.

I just think this isn't the single that would have put her back on top. I wouldn't say she's over yet either. But I do think this single is telling. Shadow wasn't as big of a hit as Pieces of Me, but I didn't think it was a very good fit for pop radio. So it charted about what I thought it should chart (if not higher). Where as La La is charting a lot lower than I thought it would. If it tops out under 30, I'd say that's a good indication that radio really isn't interested in her anymore. If that's the case, she'll need one hell of a good lead single off of her next album (I'm going ahead and figuring La La is it for Autobiography) to get radio's attention again. Or it's buh-bye, Ashlee.

well she is bringing back her MTV show so obviously she'll have that following behind her for her next single bet it from Autobiography or a new CD. Ashlee is not dumn apparently, she got so many sales by 1. being Jessica's sister and 2. by having her own show promote the CD. I doubt seriously if she'd have gone back to doing the Ashlee show had the SNL mess up not happened. Ashlee needs to hold onto that MTV tween/teen crowd and the best way to do that is have a show on MTV. Look at her sister, she was a mediocre pop star until Newlyweds hit the air and then she blew up. I'm sure Ashlee is hoping for that same kind of success to be generated for her. as for the song LaLa, this song completely sucks. what kind of lyrics are those anyway? "I'm like an alley cat drink the milk up I want more??" LMAO

I doubt seriously if she'd have gone back to doing the Ashlee show had the SNL mess up not happened. it was always planned for her show to come back. her show was huge and bought in sales. Do u really think MTV wasnt dyin to bring it back another season, just like they continue to bring back the not-so newlyweds.

oh I have no doubt MTV wanted it back, what I said was did ASHLEE want to go back and do it again?? she's supposedly working on her "movie" career and her album sales would indicate that she's the new IT girl in music so why go back to MTV for another round of reality television? she got what she wanted out of it right? and I don't recall any ads for the show returning when it went off the air last season but then again I rarely watched it other then flipping by looking for something else to watch.
and yes the not-so newlyweds need to go too!

Ya know Ashlee has done more with less talent than just about anybody in the business. The law of averages has to catch up with her for lot of reasons: 1. She really is a bad singer, 2. She really is not a good actress, 3. She is not beautiful enough to become an "it' girl, 4. Shes not very bright or interesting.
She hit the jackpot for her limited skills and got OVERpaid. But what do I know - I'm just talking to myself on a message board.
