this album is sooooo much better than people give it credit for Yeah, I still wouldn't rank it ahead of "Hot Fuss", but I don't think it's anywhere near as horrible as some make it out to be.

"Read My Mind" is their newest single right? Yep, one of my favorites on the album. It's already peaked higher than "Bones" at alternative, and it should do well at pop, too.

As a big fan of Dire Straits, I had to post this: www.stereogum.com/archives/004652.htmlThe Killers Cover Dire Straits We would have been more impressed with a "Brothers In Arms" cover, but The Killers chose "Romeo And Juliet," and it actually suits them well. Yup, that's two count 'em two consecutive Killers posts that are more or less hate free. Don't worry, the law of averages dictates that Brandon will do something stupid pretty soon. But for now, watch 'em do Dire Straits at Abbey Road studios here. --------------------------------------------------- Well, on first listen I can't say I like it as much as the original, but it definitely could've been worse.

Billboard.com:
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Undoubtedly the best track from "Sam's Town," the Killers' sophomore set, "Read My Mind" is a gloriously melodic Duran Duran-meets-Springsteen tale about "breakin' out of this two-star town." Fusing new wave with pure Americana, it opens with huge synth washes and builds to a dark, romantic swoon driven by muscular rock guitars, while frontman Brandon Flowers delivers one of his best pop hooks to date. Even better, he makes no attempt to hide his crush on the Boss, offering lines like "I pull up to the front of your driveway/With magic soakin' my spine," which suggests long nights spent with "Born to Run." Eighties lovers hungry for more should check out the lush Pet Shop Boys remix.

Looks like "For Reasons Unknown" will be the next single after "Read My Mind", which holds steady at #74 this week on the Hot 100.
Also, The Killers will be featured on the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack (out May 1), with a song called "Move Away".

Billboard:
The Killers earn their first Triple A chart-topper as "Read My Mind" supplants Norah Jones' three-week reign with "Thinking About You." It's the first No. 1 at Triple A for the Island Def Jam Music Group since Melissa Etheridge's "Breathe" reached that spot in the Feb. 27, 2004, issue when it similarly nudged a Jones track -- "Sunrise" -- from the throne.
