Oh no! What's the difference between chr/pop and mainstream hit?! :o CHR/Pop is the one that Radioandrecords uses. Mainsteam hit has more stations on their panel, including Sirius Satelite and MTV.

It helps that the #1 threshold is so low this week... historically, a song with 7200 spins wouldn't even be at #1. The week of 5/21/04, for example, shows Nelly's current spin total would have placed him at #6 (where a +1800 would still be remarkable, but less so). See, that's what I meant about a "weak chart" in the "Tim Mcgraw" topic.

It's funny how "weak" the chart is, yet I still feel like I hear the same song(s) over and over again. I think an important measure of variety on the pop chart is to take a difference between the #1's spins and the #50's spins. The larger that number, the more overplaying is occurring.

Yes, but if you're like most people, you're always listening to the same stations. Most stations are still repeating their powers 12-14 times per day. A weak chart means that the stations aren't agreeing on which songs to play, which leads to low spin totals. Songs can still be way overplayed on individual stations.

For example, KIIS hardly plays "Breakaway", but when I listened to San Diego's hit station, I was amazed at the number of times I heard it. Most stations look like they're agreeing on "Over And Over", however, so that should fix the low spin totals.

Slinky hit the nail on the head with regards to JCMF3's issue.

I'm addicted to the "Over and Over" song. My two favorite songs right now are #1 and #2 which is awesome.
