"Tennessee" update: It starts in December After several delays, Tennessee will finally commence principal photography this December, 2006. Director Aaron Woodley and producer Lee Daniels revealed the following details about the movie's storyline to Heroes of Mariah:
The two brothers were abused by their father when they were kids and so they ran away from Tennessee to escape him. Ten years later, the younger brother is diagnosed with cancer. His only possibility to survive is to find a bone marrow donor, which is their father. On their journey back to Tennessee, they meet Crystal who aspires to be a country-western singer. Her abusive husband is not very supportive of her ambitions and wants her to stay a housewife. Crystal tries her luck in Nashville, while the two brothers keep searching for their father.
The most ironic part of the storyline is the fact that Mariah's character Crystal is not a good singer, which makes the realization of her dream as a country star more questionable. Source: Aaron Woodley and Lee Daniels

^It sounds kinda good, kinda cheesy. What's up with everyone being abused? At least it doesn't sound that bad.

I think after this next album she will go back on a decline. She is getting older and we all know wat happens to females in this industry once they hit a certain age. So i think she will get 1 maybe 2 more successful albums.

Age has nothing to do with it. Look at Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, and Tony Bennett AND ECT. pEOPLE WILL ALWAYS BUY GREAT ARTIST.
NEW AND YOUNG ARTIST ARE FLOPPING SO I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU. RADIO IS GONNA CHANGE BACK AND REAL MATURE PEOPLE WILL START TO BUY MUSIC AGAIN. NONE OF THESE NEW SINGER'S HAVE REALLY SOLD MUCH OF ANYTHING. SO YOUR POST I'd have to disagree with........

Let say this, when Mariah's 48...she will not be debuting at # 1 in 29 WW or on the Billboard 200...she will not have the biggiest tour of all-time in the world by a female artist...nor will she be grabbing headlines everytime she does something...once Mariah loses her youth..which will be very soon...she really doesnt have much to offer...she doesnt have that personallty or what it takes to be succesful when shes in her 40's...age is Mariah's weekness....shes to worryed about staying young...lol...at 48...shell still be trying to do r&b and hip-hop artist with 23 year old rappers in tight short's....oh...i think weight will be an issue with her too....shes a big girl...we all know that.

She lost that after Music Box, man! The movie sounds, eh, weird. But I'm sure it'll be better than what says. And FU to the Glitter haters, it was a good movie damn it! I'll pull my Miss Cleo out of my arse and say, the movie and album will flop, Mariah will have another breakdown, then make her comeback around 2010, with a hot song and a hot video of her running around in a thong chasing some 16 year old rapper! I know what you're thinking, it's so gonna happen!

The Movie: she showed great potential in Wisegirls and i have no doubt she'll do better than average on this movie.
New CD: Mimi's music speak for itself. I'm not the least bit surprised that the haters are already building walls. She's always been an underdog throughout her career and that has never stopped her, doubt this will. LOL She's found a little niche that she will most likely (and smartly) cater to, Urban AC. It will guarantee her longevity & status as one of the GREATS to EVER come out. Age is an issue to EVERY female singer (as clearly noticed in Madonna's case). Having said that, Mariah is the queen of Ballads. "We Belong Together" & "Don't Forget About Us" showed us that there still is an apetite for A+ type ballads in the market to cater to this 'American Idol'-generation. Age is not a factor when it comes to good song, only closed minded haters lol

Why do you keep comparing her with your wrinkled old idol? Are you that threatened by her that you have to come in here and "worry" and '"compare" her to Madonna? No one here cares about Madonna and 10 years from now she'll be somewhere in a rocking chair figuring out how she can get more attention that she's lost.
And Mariah is an "ethnic" woman and she will have the curves and thickness, regardless. I prefer that kind of woman over some skinny stick, anyday.

Ended up posting this in the Gwen Stefani thread, and thought it was more fitting here to discuss. I still love Mariah, but does anyone understand what Im saying? Or am I crazy?
Its a personal opinion, and since this is a Gwen Stefani thread, I wont go on my tangent. I have been a Mariah fan since 1993, like die hard, crazy lamb. Anyways I saw her live in 2003, when she was struggling, and Charmbracelet wasn't getting very good reception, and she was suffering still from the whole Glitter debacle. I went and payed a crap load of money for second row seats, I saw her in Denver @ Red Rocks. I was shocked she even went there to begin with, its VERY intimate, but she couldn't sell out arena's then. I supported her... As I have since 1993, profusely, and she has continued to make music I feel was very retrospective and meaningful for my life. Anyways, so the anticipation of "Mimi" was huge and I was just as excited as everyone else. But I have never seen Mariah lip so much (the ending of We Belong Together was preformed live once) I have never seen Mariah's promo look so fake (I admire Markus Klinko & Indrani but come on, they are manipulating the world massively.People do NOT look like that) Anyways, then Mariah signs all these big deals with companies, which in the past she was very shy to do. The Claires deal, Pepsi, Intel... clearly for money. I feel like The Emancipation of Mimi does not stand the test of time for me compared to say, Butterfly, or even Rainbow, or Music Box. Anyways, all this era I have had a feeling of detachment, for the first time after loving her for 13 years. Granted this is my problem, I feel that the lack of genuine music lately, and the less then stellar live performances, and all the money-making deals, have sabotaged some of her true fans. This was evident when she announced her 2005 tour, and she had a date at the Pepsi Center in Denver.... I spent like 300 dollars to go see her, only for the promoters to cancel the show and put more shows in area's that would generate more money. I'm sure it wasn't personal and that Mariah didn't make the decision to not play Denver, they canceled 2 other shows as well. But... I feel they could have easily switched the Venue and made it smaller, for a few states. Pepsi is a big company, and it's about revenue, and if they hadn't been sponsoring her concert in a way, or if Mariah hadn't blew up all of a sudden again... I might have got to see her. So The concert was canceled, and I'm still bitter. Not only that, I feel its for valid reasons. I love Mariah so much, but I feel even though Charmbracelet might not of been up to par to most of the world, it was more honest and genuine and beautiful then the Emancipation of Mimi could ever be. I guess I just rant a bit. Anyways in comparison to Gwen Stefani, I feel for very similar reasons she is putting this second album out. Revenue, and I know we're all out to make money, but I truly believe there is true artistry, and it is not recognized at all by the general public. When "I'm In Love With A Stripper" became number one in the US. I then planned my escape, I will finish college, and leave. Amazing what motivates people. Anyways I will enjoy Gwen, and Mariah (still my favorite) but I guess the more and more the music industry changes, and becomes even more state of the art, and mechanical, the more I realize maybe my musical styles differ from the general public more so then I thought originally.
