I got tix today for Cleveland and Pittsburgh through the VH1 presale. Gonna do a road trip to Pitts in October. Should be fun. I waited too long to get the tix to Cleveland and all the good ones were gone. :( It's going to be a bummer being soooo far away when we had been within 20 feet at his April show in Columbus. But at least we have a seat. Those GA shows are killers! Here's the link for tix, if you want to get in on the presale: www.vh1.com/artists/az/thomas_rob/tours.jhtmlEnjoy your shows. Sorry your Cleveland seats aren't the best. I'm going to two shows as well. Any other pulsemusic members going to a show? Anna Nalick will be opening for my two shows. I'm anxious to hear what her live show is like. I would have also liked to have seen Antigone Rising. Maybe next time. Looks like Rob will have a nice increase on the album sales chart. Tour promo helped. Now if only CHR Pop would pick up TIHAHB. My HotAC started playing the song in heavy rotation yesterday.

I'm really hoping that tickets for one of the Beacon Theatre shows (looks like they added a second one because it's selling so well) are still available once I find out whether or not I'll have midterms that week.

My radio station has been giving away tix all week. Yesterday they had three people who called in beg for them and the best one got the tix. I don't think I'd demean myself like that on the radio, even for Rob!
Hey, does calling in to Pop stations to ask for TIHAHB do any good? Just wondering if the decision has been made on this song and no amount of asking is gonna get them to play it. I love it and can't sit still whenever my station plays it.

I love it and can't sit still whenever my station plays it. I think it's still worth a shot to call your local Pop station to request the song.

I'm going to see him at The Mohegan Sun in CT and in Toronto. Can't wait! :) As for TIHAHB, my Hot AC station has it at #1 this week!

This is a Canadian station, right? I believe Rob's album sales have actually been much more steady in Canada than in the US. I don't think his album has been out of the top 50 yet in Canada. :)

I don't think his album has been out of the top 50 yet in Canada. :) Yes, this is an Ottawa station. I think our stations are pretty Rob-friendly. The Nielsen Soundscan Hits chart for radio airplay for last week had STB at #49, the week before it was #46. The R&R Hot AC chart has TIHAHB at #1 and LNM 5th most played recurrent, and LNM is #1 on the AC chart. OK, that was probably way more than you wanted to know about what's happening on Canadian radio! LMAO! Thanks about the shows. I know I'm going to enjoy them! I bought my tickets through the fan club too, and should get really good seats. :)

I found this on The Hockey News website. Idiot!
"The concept of cause and effect means many things to many people. For discerning music fans, it means Matchbox Twenty lead singer Rob Thomas’s solo career (the cause) has the effect of creating two successful musical entities undeserving of their success in music."
I've never understood why MB20 and Rob have so many detractors in the media. If you list the hit songs from their albums, it really is quite an amazing career. To say they are undeserving of their success is just ignorant of the facts.

I have tix to the Cleveland show already, but they suck. And now my friend says she doesn't think she can go. Sooo, this morning there was a special presale through the local radio station. I did a ticket search for 1 ticket and I got one on the center aisle in Row M on the floor. Wooohooo! Gonna sell the other ones. My first search for tickets popped up with row D, but on the very end of the aisle. Almost got that one, but tried another search and then it was gone. Oh well, the row M on the floor is much better than the K in the balcony, IMO. Psyched!

Has anyone heard Rob Thomas doing a cover of Madonna's "Borderline?"

Has anyone heard Rob Thomas doing a cover of Madonna's "Borderline?" Yes. There's video and audio links in the Madonna thread somewhere.

Congrats to Rob for being the first solo artist to have two songs in the top 5 simultaneously on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart!

If he does TIHAHB, I'll be really frustrated. He needs to do a performance of "Ever the Same" and knock it out of the park on national TV.

Oh, and one more thing, I just checked on tickets for Rob's tour (yeah, I'm behind. I think his tickets are a little bit overpriced! Tickets to see him solo are going for more than I paid to see matchbox twenty, Sugar Ray, and Maroon 5 at the same show!!

I agree, and I don't get it either. But critic/shmitics, they are only opinions. I often disagree with them, and rarely buy something because they say it's good. Could music be a more subjective art form?
As for the media at large, sometimes I think it's made up of a bunch of bandwagon-jumping lemmings.
I'll be at Rob's Oakland show, and I can't wait.

I read somewhere that he will be performing TIHAHB tonight. I don't think he should abandon this single quite yet and move on to Ever the Same. I think there are still a few months to promote TIHAHB before they even think of releasing a next single.
I do wonder what Rob will be performing on this weekend's Hurricane Katrina telethon. I'm hoping he sings When the Heartache Ends from his new album. The lyrics seem very appropos to the situation. Really don't want him to do 3AM...again. Maybe Streetcorner Symphony? Especially since John Mayer will be at the show too, maybe they'll duet. That would be neat to see.

If you're used to seeing Wilmer Valderrama play goofy and lovable Fez on That '70s Show, you're about to see a much different side of the actor. Valderrama will play a "psychotic, kind of crazy guy who talks to birds," in an upcoming video for Rob Thomas's song "Ever The Same," Thomas told People Magazine at the recent Fashion Rocks event in New York City.
So, how did the pairing come about? "It was my wife's idea," says Thomas. "We met him and became friends with him and he's one of the nicest guys. He has such an interesting face. Mari was like, 'Maybe instead of being something funny and silly wouldn't it be cool if he was dark and spooky and scary.' He was too." The video will hit the small screen sometime in the next few months.

Anyone have any recent sales figures for this album? Wonder if the next single will give him pretty decent Christmas sales. Does anyone think there will be a fourth single from this album?
I read that Rob is in the UK promoting the TIHAHB single which will be released next week over there. I have read several news items that say that solo Rob is doing much better in Europe than MB20 ever did. He's gained a lot of new fans in Spain because of the latin tinge to Lonely No More.

Anyone have any recent sales figures for this album? He sold 12,900 last week, bringing total sales to 999,800. So that means he passed the 1 million mark in the US this week :)

I would of expected Rob's album to be doing a lot better than that. :(
I'm glad that he's about to reach the 1 mil mark though. :)

VALDERRAMA LANDS A SPOT IN THOMAS' VIDEO Actor WILMER VALDERRAMA is thrilled to have landed a spot in the video for ROB THOMAS' new single EVER THE SAME, because he credits the rocker with helping him learn English. Although Valderrama, 25, was born in the US, he and his family left for Spanish-speaking Venezuela when he was a young child, eventually moving to Los Angeles in 1994. And Valderrama, who met Thomas at a party earlier this year (04), has now been able to thank his idol personally, after agreeing to appear in his new music video. He says, "When I was learning to speak English, his CD was one of the first purchases I ever made. I was able to sing in English because of his songs, so you know I'm a fan." 15/09/2005 09:16 www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/valderrama%20lands%20a%20spot%20in%20thomas%20video
